I moved to Westminster when I came out to Colorado with my then-4 month old mastiff mix, and searched the area for nice, clean, friendly vets. I stumbled upon Arrowhead and was impressed with the facility and the secretaries. The vet seemed friendly as well and administered vaccinations no problem. A couple months later, I awoke to a tennis ball-sized growth on my dogs face, so I immediantely called the vet. He explained they see this every so often, its probably a grass seed stuck in the dogs skin causing swelling - he explained the procedure was simple and 99% of the dogs who undergo it never have a recurrence. Well, I mustve been the 1% due to VET ERROR. The day after he finished his antibiotics, my dog had a BASEBALL SIZE growth in the same spot! I called, set up an appointment with the same vet and demanded they do the procedure (cost me $450 or so the first time) without charging me since they obviously didnt do it right the first time. LITTLE TO MY SURPRISE they would not go lower than $275 and they all of a sudden found a grass seed in his salivatory gland! He explained the first time they didnt even bother looking for it and just put a drain in. How unprofessional! I was able to set up a payment plan for 1/2 and 1/2 (since i had already spent all my money on the first surgery...), paid the first 1/2...and TWO DAYS before the second payment was due, they went ahead and withdrew the money from my account WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME which led my account to go negative in balance! I called them right away and they fixed it, but didnt tell me why they couldnt have waited two days for the real due date when I was planning on paying it off! All in all I would NOT recommend this clinic although the facility itself is nice.

Ive been taking my white German shepherd to Arrowhead for over 3 years now. Ive moved a few towns away and its now about a 2 hour round-trip but Im still making the trip to Arrowhead. They have provided world-class care and the staff is terrific. They have a lot of flexibility with appointments and while they are always busy the staff never seemed rushed and take the time to answer any question and provide helpful guidance. Its apparent to me that Dr. P and his staff genuinely care about their patients and are deeply invested in their wellbeing. The last time I was there one of the front desk staff was telling someone it was the best job she ever had and that she loved her employer. She had worked at other places for 10 years but made the decision to come back because Dr. P was the best employer she ever had. Those are the kind of people I want caring for my GSD. I pass a half dozen other vets on the trip to Arrowhead but wouldnt consider going anywhere else - Arrowhead is one of the best service providers Ive ever encountered.

I am going to say the positive first in my review. I went to Arrowhead for many years and always saw Dr Pfretzschner with my cats. I think he has always been a great vet and I respected his judgement. Of course I went back when I got my new kitten and saw Dr Pfretzschner. We had scheduled my kitten to be spayed and at that time he gave me a estimate of the cost. Unfortunately, Dr Pfretzschner no longer does the surgeries and Dr Cordell was assigned. When I brought my kitten in the morning to be spayed Dr Cordell had a whole different estimate almost double in cost to what I was quoted before. He told me there was a mistake on Dr Pfretzschners part and this is what he was charging and why. He also told me that he would take the Rimadyl 25 mg chew off his quote for that was mainly for dogs. Needless to say we wont be back for I got quoted one thing and then the morning of us being in there it changes. If you cant trust the billing estimate or the vet doing the surgery I cant trust the best care for my kitten!

This is the worst vet I have ever been to! The staff are rude and inattentive. They do not even acknowledge you when you walk in the door. We brought our dog in for knee surgery and over $3000 and a couple months later, he was not healing and continuing to limp and loose leg muscle. Dr. Ziegler said he was fine after bringing him in several times (paying for each visit). Finally, they did an X-Ray and found that his knee needed to be worked on again and refused to offset the cost, even though it was their fault. During the surgery, they found what was causing the leg to continue to have issues. During the first surgery, they left a piece of gauze in his leg which got infected. Again, their fault and they would not take any responsibility for! I cant even believe anyone would give this vet 5 stars. They do not deserve any stars! If you care about the well being of your pet, do not take them here! Take them to Community Pet Hospital! They are much better!

Hi folks my name is john depiero and i would like to relate my experience with Arrowhead Animal Hospital. If you need to find a vet already have a vet or just wanna feel the love Arrowhead is the place to go.The vets are fantastic especially Dr Jim Houchens. You will absolutely never find a better veterinarian or a human being in general. The ladies in the front are always friendly and will bend over backwards to meet your needs and the most important thing about these people is They care! Ive known Dr Houchens almost 40 years and it just doesnt get any better than him or Arrowhead. So in closing let me tell everyone again if your animal needs a doctor or anything for your furry children your search stops at Arrowhead.

This place was one bad experience after another. They tried to cheat us out of money, the desk staff was absolutely horrid to us. I have seen them tie dogs to the trees outside next to very busy Sheridan street on hot days, no one outside watching the dogs. The dogs are open to the street, heat or any creep that might come by thinking to mistreat or worse. I wouldnt put any animal in their care. Great for those of you who havent had a bad experience with them YET. But if you know theyve been bad for so many others, why would you chance it with an animal you love?

I have known Don Pfretschner since he was fresh out of vet school, and have always enjoyed my experiences with him and the other vets and their techs at Arrowhead. Today, 5/31/14, Don and tech Ashley went far above and beyond the call of duty when they came to my home and picked up (literally!) my completely disoriented, neurologically afflicted Airedale, who was circling blindly in the basement and couldnt or wouldnt climb the steps. They took him to Arrowhead for observation, and will follow up with a neurological consult on Monday.

This hospital is very friendly and helpful. The staff here are all animal lovers. I have been bringing my two huskies Luna and Zane to this place for over 3 years now and I have never had a negative experience with the staff. The services are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and can answer all of your questions. I recommend this place to anyone that wants their pet to be treated like a family member rather than just a patient.
