I was brought down by wheelchair from my doctors office, I was so sick. My doctor even called and ahead, and advised them of my symptoms, and what they should check for. I waited to be seen by a triage nurse, then even longer to get to the back, but I knew that there could be life threatening emergencies ahead of me, so I was patient. When seen by the triage nurse, I explained that I was having severe abdominal pain, and that my groin was very painful too. I gave her all of my information about what meducations I was taking, and previous surgeries, such as having my gallbladder and appendix out. A doctor came into the triage room, and touched my abdomen, and said yes, she needs pain meds. I waited in the waiting room, then was finally brought back into the ER. They had no beds, so mine was in a corner in the hallway. I was just greatful to be able to lie down. They could not start an IV on me, so they did a CT scan without contrast, of my abdomen. After the results were back, the nurse came to prepare me to go home, but I hadnt even seen a doctor yet, except the few seconds in triage. That same doctor did come to see me and told me it was good news, I didnt have appendicitis. Good, I replied, I dont have an appendix. He looked dumb founded. They never addressed my groin pain, which was so bad that I could barely walk. But the doctor gave me an antibiotic, yet where was the infection? Two days later, I went to a different hospitals ER. I was admitted. They managed my pain, did a full GI work up, as well as an MRI of my hip. They found out that I had a fracture in my hip. After that, I was made non weight bearing, and eventually sent to rehab And by the way, the ER nurse was rude. Dr. Dusty ___, , you really blew it. I had heard great things about this hospital, but after this fiasco, I will never go back there again!

My mother had a stroke and was also suffering from severe COPD and was brought to emergency by ambulance at 7:30am. They put her in a room, got her on oxygen and monitored her heart, etc. But she was extremely agitated; talking gibberish but thinking she was getting through to people, and becoming more and more exhausted and restless. We waited and waited and waited and waited for feedback, and to be seen by a doctor. The one who was coming on duty at 9am didnt come to see us until 11am. There were only 2 docs for all the patients, and the nurses seemed to be sitting around talking to each other. If I hadnt been keeping tabs on my mother, no one would have known it was time for her nebulizer treatment, or that she needed to urinate, or wanted water but was unable to swallow, etc. The doctor who finally did come seemed about 30 years old and gave us a cursory review. Then we waited and waited and waited AGAIN until we were admitted at 4pm. The torture continued as she tore her IV out and they couldnt find a vein--tried 3 times. The nurses in the ICU were much nicer, but she died in the early morning hours, and I cant help thinking it was largely because of the torture and restriction she experienced. I will NEVER use this emergency room again. I see that many people have given this hospitals emergency a 1 star review. Why doesnt management DO something? Hire more docs. Be more attentive. My mother suffered at their hands, needlessly. I also wanted add that the internist in acute care, Dr. Panja, would only speak to me on the phone and he was very rude and hung up on me when HE was finished talking. After that, he didnt sign the death certificate for almost 2 weeks and hung up the crematorium and our work of dealing with the estate. What a jerk.

I am very upset with this facility. I brought my son here when he had fallen and gotten a bad gash on his forehead. There was only 3 people in the waiting room, which I was happy about because my son is only 18 months old, and had just taken a bad fall, that included a heavy chair falling on him. Well, My son started throwing up in the waiting room (now meaning he had a concussion) and I was told they would get me right in after this occurred. Well, the nurse came out and took someone in who came in AFTER us, the front desk confronted the nurse, but she ignored her completely and ignored my son, who was bleeding from the head and had vomit all over himself and me. Well, after we FINALLY got a room, there was blood on the floor, and an open package from a previous used wet wipe. The room had obviously not been cleaned. I had to call someone to clean the room. Then, my son did not get a CT scan, because the doctor believed him to be "fine" without checking anything at all. At my sons follow up appointment (which the doctor as this ER told me he didnt need to go to...after a concussion for some odd reason) his pediatrician was shocked that he did not receive a CT scan to check for any other issues, and said they should have checked his pupils.. which they did not, even after I asked them to. All they did was poked his head a little. They then, put "skin glue" over his cut on his forehead... which did nothing. the gash was still wide open and will now scar horribly. They did not put the skin glue on in a neat way either, the skin glue literally is just smeared all over his forehead. This was the worst experience at a ER I have ever encountered. Please, If you have any other options for ER, go elsewhere.

Came here because i found out im pregnant and i was bleeding. I am RH negative, meaning i need a rhogam shot, i have history of misccsriages and an ectopic pregnancy. I suffer from PCOS, PID, MS and have scar tissue on my left ovary and fallopian tube. Im high risk for ovarian cancer. Now, i am a young female so i feel like they just thought i wouldnt have any clue what im talking about. But thats not the case. I know an awful lot about my health. So, I told the RN my concerns and told her im worried a regular urine test wont confirm pregnancy and asked for a blood test. She said Itll work etc and talked to me like im and idiot. Kept asking about my parents. Im a grown woman. I live on my own. Well my urine was mostly blood so i was concerned itd mess up the test. Sbe said no. Came back 10 mins later saying they did 2 tests both negative. Which is BS. and i kept saying thats not right i took 8 at home tests all positive, some very faint. Showed her pictures of test and she said they were negative. Like lady theres clearly two lines there. She insulted my intelligence and told ne im just having a heavy menstrual flow. Which is not the case. I ended going to halifax and they actually listened and checked everything. I have multiple cysts on both my ovaries. I am also pregnant, about 5 weeks. And they are having me come in every 2 days to check my HCG and to look and see if it turns tubal. I thought this was the nice hospital. Having nice equipment doesnt really matter when your staff is rude and ignorant.
