I was very excited to have my daughter here in Feb of 2015, however I wish I would have went elsewhere. I arrived early in the morning and was told I would be starting petocin very soon they just had to get a room ready for me. After almost a 2 hour wait, they have a room but tell me that they do not have a nurse to care for my baby, so it will still be a little bit before i get Petocin. I ask the nurse if I can get something to eat b/c we rushed to hospital without breakfast and it seemed like it would be a long day, she said yes something light. My husband went to the cafeteria and got me something, however when he returned another nurse said that I could not eat it and could not eat until after my baby was born. At this point I was hungry and tired but settled for a nap, I was about 3 cm dialated and it was a little hard to sleep, so after an hour or so I asked to walk around. I was immediately told no and that they would need to Monitor my baby, so I could not walk around ( i was so upset as I was told on the tour this would be fine). When I was 3-4 cm The nurse I had kept telling me I better get the epidural or I was going to be in to much pain to sit still, i was scared so I took it, but I Wish I wasnt so pressured as I felt like I could have managed the pain on my own. I did not recieve pitocin until 9pm, all day I had gone with only a few ice chips and a popsicle, my throat hurt, i was exhausted and hungry and hardly ever saw nurses. I was checked through out the night but progressed very slowly. Finally around 2pm on the second day of my stay I was ready to start pushing. Although the nurse kept telling me My baby was right there truthfully I was not making much progress . I pushed for over 3 hours and when my Dr. Arrived, he was extremely upset the nurse allowed me to push for so long as he normally does not let his patients push for more then 2 hours, he checked me and said the baby has not made it past my pubic bone and ordered and immediate c-section. My baby was born via c-section at 5:51pm. Although I wanted to breastfeed the combination of not eating for the past 36 hours plus the length of labor and pushing I was to exahausted and asked for a bottle for my crying baby ( mind you we have not been moved to our room, we were still in recovery) I was shaking and just wanted to close my eyes but the nurse refused to give her a bottle and said no your paperwork says you want to breastfeed so you need to do that. I begged to give her a bottle ( my first baby, I wasnt even sure how to breastfeed) she never offered to come help me or anything. When we got to our room about 2-3 hours past my delivery I was finally given formula for her. My Dr came to check on us and also told me they would have to give my daughter an I.V because after a certain amount of time past your water being broken you are supposed to recieve antibiotics and the nurses forgot to give them to me. I was not happy about this, if I would have recieved the proper care my daughter would have not needed an IV. The rest of the stay I was just hoping to relax and get the help I needed with breastfeeding, instead I got everything from you must schedule an appointment to see a lactation consultant to she is making her rounds and will be here soon, also no massages ( I was told the person that does them was on phone duty). Pictures were taken of my daughter the morning after her birth, i was still in so much pain (and had catherdar in) so I couldnt get out of bed. The lady stayed for about 30 minutes photographing my daughter and then came back an hour or so later to show me the pictures I really did not want to view the pictures then I was tired and just wanted to be left alone but she persisted to stay until I ordered. I could go on but am almost out of characters. All i can say is dont go to this hospital just based on their tour/website. It was not a "boutique expierience" at all!

There has been great progress in making hospitals more patient-focused in recent years. Stays are shorter, facilities are nicer, and services are more varied. Some hospitals use concierge services and will do things like dry cleaning, washing your car, or even delivering your mail. Lets take a little rundown of this whole place: First impressions: Nestled in a great location on Fairbanks Avenue: not too far from the nice part of Winter Park and not too close to the not-as-nice part of Winter Park. The main entrance off of Loch Lomond Drive is very nice and is completed with a beautiful fountain out front. Self-parking is a little bit on the tough side, but if you are so inclined, there is a valet service available. Not a lot of shaded parking, so if youre parking in the summertime: crack those windows! Sidenote: the emergency room entrance is on the other side of the building, off of Lakemont Avenue. Parking is even slimmer there, but again, there is a valet service if you need to. Entrance: Dual sliding doors make way to a very spacious lobby area. Plenty of seating available, into intake areas on the left and right sides for separate needs. There is some construction going on currently, so there may be a little dust and tarps hanging around. Staff is very friendly, check-ins are usually fast here. If you get cold waiting, just asked receptionist for a warm blanket! Patient areas: The hallways can be long, but they end in very nice, clean, and what looks to be recently remodeled patient wings. Most, if not all, of the rooms are private rooms (One patient only) and are average size or larger The wings are quiet, and are kept very clean. In fact, there is a "quiet time" between 1 and 5 PM (At least on the wing I frequent). Cafeteria: A little tricky to find, the cafeteria is actually on the "basement" level. If the main fare lines happen to be closed, then youve got considerably fewer options. There is a salad bar that is always there, some desserts, and a beverage case. Staff: Finally, what can be the most important part of any hospital: the staff. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable, and do the best they can to try to meet any request you have. No complaints here. Overall: Great little underdog hospital that doesnt always get enough credit. Great surroundings, great staff, great service. Tough parking in the afternoon.

Patient care was poor. Patient was left in bed with stains on sheets which had not been changed in 3 days. If the wife had not brought this to the nurses attention, they would not have been changed then. This is an elderly couple, patient was the husband. When I took her to visit, she sat down on the chair and he told us to be careful not to get blood on her clothes. His IV had pulled out and since he was on a blood thinner, he had bled all over the sheet covering the chair. By the time the nurse came in to replace the IV, all that was done was the sheet was covered with a blanket to cover the bloody sheet on the chair, it was not removed, disinfected. He used the call button 3 times to get someone to help him get up to the bathroom and nobody came. I went to the nurses station and insisted that he get help and he did. On another occasion, when we arrived, he was huddled under one blanket, up to his neck, shivering. He said he had called 3 times for another blanket and nobody responded. I went to the station and got someone to bring him a blanket. There were many instances that he talked about but he did not like to complain. All of the support staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Dietary aide and housekeeping were wonderful. Some nurses were also very attentive but on one occasion he waited 20 minutes for a nurse to respond to a call. At 78 years old, he was afraid that if he made a fuss, the nurses would be annoyed and give him even less service. My chief concerns wwere the lack of changing the linens, bloody sheet on chair for a long period of time and lack of response to his calls. He NEVER called unless he legitimately needed help and on many of those occasions got none. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone who is ill and doesnt have a family member who can stay with the patient 24 hours to be sure their needs are met.Since he was in the hospital for more than 14 days, I would have hoped that an administrator would have made rounds and asked about the care. In general, his wife and I are very disappointed and concerned about sanitary conditions regarding linens, especially.
