I am a relative of a patient staying at this establishment. I visited her for the first time today. I am appalled by the actions of the CNA and RN on duty. She is supposed to be using a bed pan due to the fact that she just had sugery on her femur and cannot get up. When she told the CNA that she had to urinate, she was as told that she was just changed and if she had to go, to urinate or defecate on herself on the pad beneath her and the pad would later be changed. What!?!? She had a wet spot about 6-7 inches in diameters on her gown, which I pointed out to the CNA. She said it was not urine(it clearly smelt of urine) and was possibly pus from a sore on my grandmothers inner thigh. She then showed me the sore by lifting my grandmothers dressing gown showing her thigh with an open wound also exposing her private area with no concern for my grandmothers dignity or privacy. She then insisted that she was not wet and roughly moved her legs causing my grandmother to verbalize that her handling had caused her pain. My grandmother had an open wound on her upper inner thigh and they are telling her to urinate and defecate herself in the bed? Is this safe or sanitary? Could this cause her wound to become infected? The CNA then said that she needed another persons help to change her and that it was her break time and she would return after her break. What!?!?!? Shocked, I then asked if it was protocol to leave her in a gown with urine on it while she took a break. I honestly didnt know the answer to that question(maybe it was protocol?). She didnt reply. She left and returned with an RN. They proceeded to once again roughly show me that her bed pad was not wet by aggressively moving her leg again and pulling up her gown so her private area was showing again with no regard for my grandmother. My grandmother once again winced in pain and said ouch. I felt my grandmothers embarrassment and tried to move her gown down to cover her private area. The nurse then aggressively said "I am holding up her gown, you cant pull it down". I asked if we were all speaking the same language as the CNA repeated herself about 10 times that her bed pad was not wet. I wasnt disputing that. I was questioning the urine on her gown. They then aggressively took her gown off, window shade wide open for anyone to see in the room leaving my grandmother to lay completely naked in the bed. My grandmother moved her arms to cover her chest. I could tell she was deeply uncomfortable. Again, there was absolutely no regard for my grandmothers privacy or dignity. I will be contacting administration this morning as all this occurred at 8:30 PM on a Sunday night to find out if this treatment is acceptable and normal behavior on their part. My grandmother is a human being and should be treated as one.

By far one the most dangerous place I have ever worked. I know all HCRs are not the same, so please note I am only referring to the one on Eagle Ridge in Ft Myers ran by Sally Boswell, NHA. I hope that the corporate office will take notice with this review. I did my duty reporting to the state and federal boards. As well as, the whistleblower committee. Let me start by stating the medical director is phenomenal, however, the administrator, scheduler, current HR, and the patient treatment is horrific. I have seen patients come in with dime size blisters and 3 weeks later have gaping wounds with sepsis. Incident reports not completed on patients with falls from 6 months prior to my start date. Short staffed up to 4-5 nurses a day. Although it doesnt appear that way because the nurse managers have to work the floor. Constant turnover of nurse management and no question as to why by corporate. Reports to the regional nursing about safety only to be reported back to the NHA as if tattling like a child, yet the regional agrees with the problems. Reports made to regional HR about scheduling shortages and some many staff working 16 hours a day only to return in less than 8 hours for another 16 hours without follow up because of friendships. Harassment by the scheduler to staff. Please people do not take your loved ones there. Nurses and CNAs please dont put ur licensure and certification on the line until drastic administration changes are made. How do I know all of this I was the acting DON for a short 2 months in 2017. I, also, have emails, photos, and texts to back up all comments I have made. I did call the careline and HR directly in the corporate office. Please call the last 12 employees that have left the facility. Dont allow that to continue.

6 reviews 1.0 star rating 5/26/2016 Being privately owned, this facility staffs lazy aides who look at you with a face when you ask them to do their job. My mother was in the Thalia memory care wing and was oxygen dependent. About 90% of the time we visited her tanks were empty or her nose device was off. Staff would only say she had just run out of oxygen or she would remove her piece, which she never did when we visited....why not do your job and place the device back in her nose. Mom was wheelchair bound so her bed was to be kept as low as possible but she fell and broke her elbow due to her bed being in the high position ( I took videos of my mom and she could get up when high but not when bed was low like it shouldve been). They even started making excuses how she couldve broken her arm without the fall causing it in order to cover themselves, which I thought was outright distastefull. Im disappointed with this facility from management who never did anything about complaints to the aides who would watch Family Feud on the TV in the dining room while patients were screaming for help in their rooms or down the hall. I would also find patients slouching over their chairs for hours on end without being assisted by staff. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Do all you can to bring your family member back home so they can last their remaining days with respect and dignity and be surrounded by loved one when they pass.

Manorcare is the worst. My husband was in Thalia Unit. I found Aides sleeping and watching TV. When asked to take my husband to the bathroom, was told they were busy taking up dinner dishes. Another time asked aide to take him to the bathroom and all of a sudden he was no ones patient. He had a sore that drs think was a burn for something hot(coffee) on his leg and not one aide reported seeing it. A report was made. As far as PT and OT that was also a joke. When I picked him up to come home, yes I brought him home, I was told he could walk 200 ft. That sounds great, but he was not able to get into bed, on the toilet by himself, dress himself. He was not even able to get in and out of the car. All these things he was able to do before he went to Manorcare for rehab. I had Home care for him when he got home. Home PT and OT did more for him in 4 weeks then Manorcare did in almost 3 months. Aides were lazy and just kept patients in wheelchairs all day. Never really saw any activities for them except the TV. If I could have written this review with out hitting a star I would have. Please dont ever consider putting your love one in Manorcare.
