Absolutely atrocious staff, none of whom know how to communicate amongst each other. Came in complaining of pain beneath my ribs a few days before Christmas. Was given a chest xray, diagnosed with pneumonia, and put on antibiotics, steroids, and some other stuff. All fine and good (Despite a number of just general conduct problems -- nurses with bad attitudes, doctors and nurses either outright lying o purposely omitting information, possible HIPAA violations, and stuff like that). I start feeling better and doc comes in and says hes releasing me. Stikes me as strange because the nurse had told me like an hour earlier that the pulminologist wanted to drain fluid from my lungs. So as Im packing to leave he actually shows up ready to do it. I told him I was discharged and he was like, "Oh okay no problem" and waked out. I was DISCHARGED and was back ~16 hours later exponentially worse than when I went in. I woke up in the middle of the night, entirely unable to breath. I had to take a load of treatments just to attempt to stabilize my breathing. I ended up back in the hospital a few hours later with a 133 heart rate. Took them 12 hours to stabilize it. Explained to the ER everything that happened and they were appalled that they discharged me at all in the shape I was in. The entire situation was an absolute nightmare and now, 12/26, Im still here. This place needs to be shut down or severely evaluated and a number of people in charge removed and replaced because as of right now it is way out of hand. I am considering a law suite for the numerous violations I observed involving both myself and other patients including ethical, HIPAA, and technical (Who doesnt send a patient home on prednisone after having him on it foes 3 days? Come on). I missed a very important Christmas I will never have the chance to get back, I will be missing wages from my employer because they were in suuuuuch a rush to get me out that I ended up having to come back, and I will likely have to be filing for bankrupty because they drastically overcharge for every little thing they do. The last time I came I was here for 8 hours and got a 30k hospital bill. I imagine this will be a couple hundred grand and even making decent money like I do theres no way Ill ever be able to (Or even want to because of the awful, shoddy care I received) pay something like that off. The best part? Ive heard multiple employees acknowledge that they routinely "discharge" people to make room for new patients even though theyre not ready only to end up back much worse than before. This is a recurring pattern and it is NOT okay. In conclusion DO NOT come here unless you got shot in a gang fight. Any other reason go somewhere else. If anyone else would like to discuss their personal experiences with me, please get in contact with me -- as I said this hospital is a joke and I plan to file a lawsuit so the more people we can we together to testify about their experiences the better well be. I can be contacted at [email protected]. I also plan to speak with the Medical Board of Florida, the Board of Nursing, and whoever the patient advocate-type person is here (If they even have one -- I wouldnt be surprised if they dont because its pretty obvious, based on my experience and those of others here, that person would be working 30 hours in a 24 hr day)

If you have ever heard of the HORROR stories regarding Lawnwood Hospital...I beg you please take heed. If you havent yet heard of the HORROR stories regarding Lawnwood Hospital and their nurses, please find out before you take your LOVED ones there. Its a death trap! Your loved one might not make it out that hospital due to the UNCARING nurses, who laugh at their patients when they are in pain...when you report it to the case workers, they dont bother calling you back. They are rated 10 out of 10 for their "I dont care attitude!" - I dont care about the patients, I dont care if your dying, because you will die here anyway, I dont care because my smoke break is more important than your timely medicine, I dont care, because what can you do - sue me. My husband has leukemia so he is admitted there often, especially to the 3rd floor if ever anyone is admitted there it is a death trap. They cant even take him a cup of water, I have to take him water from home. The nurses, staff and management dont care about the patients...they just care if you can pay or not. They will misdiagnose you, just to admit you to send you to the death trap floor. Please get a second or even a third opinon. They wanted to have an emergency surgery on my husband to remove his appendix, we both had to protest, it landed up being a bladder infection. My husband red blood levels drop and needs to be transfused, once his hemoglobins drop to 8 the decline happens rapidly...hey those nurses dont care. Nurse Portia today made up some ridiculous lie about there being a nationwide shortage of platelets - that was her excuse for not giving my husband his platelets at all, so if he knicks himself he will bleeds to death...and then she just left to go home before checking in on my husnband at 6:30pm before the nurses change shift like she said she would...she just left my husband hanging and went home. So an order from the doctor came in at 8am this morning, they only started giving my husband the first pint of blood at 2pm - which take 4 hours, they make him wait another 3 hours then they give him platelets....and it might be 11pm before they give him his second pint of blood...so he might only finish with an order that was given at 8 am this morning..it will only finish at 3/4am the next day Then there was the time the Medical ICU section, also on the 3rd floor sent my husband home, even after we protested that he was still dizzy and couldnt even stand...he landed up collapsing on the front lawn of our apartment. So I called Moffit to see if they would transfer him there, they werent able to, so all I could do was call 911 and have them take him back to the hospital they just discharged him from half an hour later. And the head nurse quickly calls me to offer his "sympathy" or hopes that I wouldnt report it so he wouldnt get fired. No fear there because the case worker is an utter ....well you know "itch" I refrained from writing a review a year ago, hoping this hospital and their nurses werent the worst, low lifes even but I was wrong, they are...from now on I will document everything and I will even write another review from all the other times and my experiences But Im sure some employer will write a glowing 5 star review after reading this

This one takes the cake !!!! On Christmas Eve , I couldnt hardly stand up and walk.. My back pain was severe.. Luckily my 29yr old son was visiting for the holiday and helped me get to Lawnwood ER.. This is where the unbelievable begins.. The check in receptionist says they sent most help home becsuse " ee were elow ".. Now were busy... They wheelchair me into a hallway and Dr asks me questions and immediately calls for shots to eleviate my pain, which was a blessing since I was in alotta pain.. I forget what they gave me but it didnt even take the edge off the pain I was in.. They did ask me what meds I was on and I told them I had high blood pressure and told them the meds I took for that.. They sent me in for cats scan.. I wss in soooo much pain it was darn near impossible to get myself from gurney to cat table.. After much effort we finally got that done.. I return to the hallway in ER and the Dr. now ups my meds to dilauded a much stronger drug.. That did help a bit more.. I then realize something and said to my Son.. " You know Ryan, they never took my vitals (blood pressure/pulse ect..) What Drs office or hospital ( let alone a trauma center ) takes in a patient and doesnt check vitals first thing ??? This is treatment 101, is it not ??? How can this step get overlooked and missed ??? Ive been to Lawnwood more than a few times.. Hernia operation, heart catheterization and several ER trips.. My synopsis if you will.. Who the heck is running that place ??? Whos on the board of directors and chairman of the board ??? In my opinion each and every one of them should be replaced immediately.. I"ve been there enough now to know its a poorly run establishment.. To boot its a trama center for crying out loud.. My 1st cousins husband is Chairman of the board at Lady of Lourdes hospital in Camden NJ.. Its the best run hospital you could ever want to be in, so I know alittle bit about a first class hospital operation.. Lawnwood on the other hand has got to be close to the bottom of the barrel.. Im sure they have doctors there that are excellent at what they do.. The board of directors on the other hand just dont cut it.. Ive been in enough hospitals to know.. Lawnwood overall may get on overall "C" grade.. But I give the ones running the show ( The BOD ) an "F-".. Especially the Top Dog (Chairman of the Board) , because any shortcomings of any business starts at the top.. Eric Weed Ft. Pierce Florida County tax payer and medical insurance carrier..
