Love the dentist. Love the office and staff. I moved to Florida in 2011. I had issues with a big part of my mouth and finding a dentist was tough because I had nobody to ask. I was told by the first dentist I saw that I would need 3 implants. I decided that after all of the trouble I have had with dental work that I should look around. I saw no less than 5 dentists. I stopped at Dr. Abdo. I was sick of failing dental work. Think multiple failing root canals and retreats. To hear Dr. Abdo was a specialist gave me hope that if he placed the implants, there might be a better chance that they would last. After visiting and getting a thorough education on implants and the condition of my mouth, I finally felt ready to go ahead. Finally, all of my questions were answered. After terrible experiences "in the chair", I was petrified of pain (in my mouth and to my wallet - as an adult, I still cried whenever I got the bill). Everyone in the office put me at ease. Implants require a decent time spent with these people. I had better like them. Not only did I like them, but everyone I ever met in the waiting room loved them as well. I always knew I was in the right spot. I ask A LOT of questions and complain A LOT, but Dr. Abdo never once seemed put out. He answered every question in detail and waited to proceed until I was comfortable. This was a big change from former dentists (there was a long list). He spoke with passion about what he does, so much so that I knew I was finally in the right dental chair. I need to give Kristy credit too. She convinced me that Dr. Abdo is where I needed to be. She spoke about Dr. Abdo with such a zest that I was convinced. You cant fake that and we all know everyone carries at least some contempt for their boss. Not Kristy! Dental work always hurts in my estimation, but with Dr. Abdo, from the novocaine shot to the extraction of my teeth, I barely felt much. I suffered more anxiety than pain. Over time after realizing how gentle he was, the anxiety abated. I still dont love visiting the dentist (sorry guys), but I have since chosen to go ahead with 2 more implants rather than attempt another root canal re-treat. Yes, it costs more, but I truly trust that it is the best decision because I am in more than capable hands. I have written such a lengthy review because I know how hard it is to find a good dentist. What can you investigate other than their education and malpractice? I hope someone finds this helpful and stops at 3 opinions instead of my 5. I also hope I can help Dr. Abdo and his staff. They have done so much for me. :)

I was referred to Dr. Abdo by my orthodontist. After my orthodontic treatment ended, I wanted to change the the appearance of the two teeth I already had a bonding on, so I went to see him. Not to mention, my ortho didnt really give me another option because he was resilient that this could only be done by Dr. Abdo because they collaborate on some patients. After a while, I decided to continue with the treatment plan he proposed to me. I made appointments on a multiple occasions, but had to cancel several times due to EMERGENCIES I had. I am pointing out at the fact that I was geniuely unable to make them. Anyway, I called him again to make an appointment, and his secretary informed that I was dismissed as a patient due to multiple cancellations. You should be able to trust your doctor. I am a medical school candidate myself, and I am aware of how the patient doctor interaction works, and for you to be told that youre dismissed as a patient due to emergencies you had is just unacceptable. I cancelled my appointments in advance, so none of them were no show appointments, which is something Id like to point out because he did not miss out on any other patients as a result of my cancelled appointments. If he as the doctor is able to cancel an appointment to see a patient from Canada with a medical urgency, how is it that I am not able to do the same as the patient when I have an emergency myself? Both my ortho and him made it seem like Dr. Obdo is the only dentist in WPB area that can fix my previously bonded teeth. And now I am told I dont want to be seen at that office again, and I am simply heartbroken to think that my smile is never going to be perfect. Not to mention, I already paid my consultation fee which I was told was going to be applied towards treatment, so obviously I lost that money too. Now not only I need to find another dentist, but also have to pay another consultation fee. My trust in the dentists is forever deteriorated because they see their patients as part of a business. My orthodontist sends him patients and vice versa and they basically make money off of each other. This, in my dictionary, is not the true definition of a caring doctor! Keep this in your mind before you schedule your appointment because God forbid, you might have to cancel your appointment because you had to leave town to visit a funeral and he just has his secretary tell you: "Dr. Abdo wants to dismiss you. We can no longer see you as a patient." So just watch out.

I needed extensive dental reconstruction work due to failed root canals and old crowns and bridgework (a fake cantilevered tooth). Two previous root canals in an upper jaw molar, followed by an appicoectomy had failed to relieve discomfort from the original root canal 30 years prior. I was terrified of dental work because of previous pain and bad dental experiences when I was a child. When I went to Dr. Abdo I was seeking a second opinion because my dentist offered no temporary tooth/teeth during the recommended 9-month implant/crown work proposed. I was unwilling to be toothless for 9 months. Dr. Abdo immediately reassured me that he could make a temporary prosthesis of four teeth that would be sufficient during the extraction of the infected tooth, removal of adjacent crowns and attached fake tooth and any subsequent work that ensued, prior to healing and implant. I was given a very extensive schedule over 9 months of proposed work. There were options I could choose, for example another extraction if an adjacent tooth with a root canal failed, with a bridge rather than an additional implant. It was a very complicated set of procedures that needed to be done, all the while Dr. Abdo assured me that my missing teeth during the procedure would not be visible due to his computer-constructed temporary prosthesis that he personally would create for me. The procedures were expensive – more expensive than those proposed by another dentist; however Dr. Abdo offered me the added benefit of not being toothless during the 9 months of treatment. Moreover, he and his staff were available to me anytime I phoned or visited on a moment’s notice if I had questions or problems. I cannot express strongly enough how grateful I am for the work Dr. Abdo did for me. My replaced teeth – 2 implants, 3 crowns and a one tooth bridge – are beautiful and satisfactory in every way. No more pain, no more discomfort, and I did not suffer the embarrassment that I would have if I had been toothless for even a day. Dr. Abdo is a tooth wizard. I actually grew fond of him over the course of my treatment because he is so personable and competent. I recommend him without any hesitation for any reason. He is the best!
