First, Id like to say...I dont usually write reviews...but, I felt this was a good outlet for my frustration. My cat, Ginger, was pregnant & had difficulty delivering her 7th baby. The kitten was partially delivered (paw first) & was stuck. I took her to Kathleen Animal Hospital to be examined. Two x-rays were taken &, who I assume was the vet (as he didnt introduce himself), told me the only way to remedy the issue was a c-section; which would cost $1500...plus the fee for consult, x-rays (x2), & medications. I love my cat...but, am not in a position to pay more than $1500 at one time. When I asked the gentleman what our other options were, he was very matter-of-fact & said..."we can euthanize her". The thought of euthanizing my mama cat...who has 5 newborn kittens...broke my heart. In tears, I begged to make payment arrangements...$500 down & I would pay the remaining balance on Wednesday. After speaking with the vet, the vet tech (who was very nice) told me...they couldnt help me & I should try to take my cat someplace else...but, not before I reconciled my balance with their clinic; which was $177 for no more than a 5-minute consult & two x-rays. I understand...my cat = my responsibility. But, it really makes me sad for the state of medicine (especially with all that has happened this week) that the life (and, possible death) of not only my cat...but, a member of my family was contingent on what I was able to pay. From start to finish, this experience kept circling back to cost. =/ On a happier note, I took her to Dr. Irelans office on Marcum Rd. Dr. Irelan was able to sedate mama cat & manually remove the kitten without surgery at all. The staff was so accommodating &, in all honesty, it felt like he & his staff actually cared for us & not only for profit. Consult, sedation, manipulation, physician administered medication (x2), post manipulation x-ray, & at-home medication (x2)...all for $362. What if I hadnt gotten a second opinion & euthanized mama cat today? Shame on you, Kathleen Animal Hospital. Thank you, Dr. Irelan.

Unfortunately, we had the same experience as K.H. at Kathleen Animal Hospital. It was our clinic and vet of choice. They had been so kind to me when I had my cat put down, but things changed ... and I was shocked at the lack of concern or care. One of our dogs had a problem with its eye and a visiting vet, first didnt want to see her because it was 1/2 hour before they closed, then told my daughter she would need a $1000 surgery and gave no pain medication. I called to set up an appointment with our normal vet, for a second opinion, and when my daughter called to follow up, the vet canceled the appointment and wouldnt even see her because one of their vets had already given their prognosis. Ended up going out of town for expert advice and dog is fine and did not need the surgery, but if she had, the out of town vet would have charged less than 1/2 the price. We have found a fabulous new clinic and vet, much further away (but it is worth it) and now both cats and dogs go there. I would like to say that the best part of Kathleen Animal Hospital were Gail and Sherry. They have always been wonderful and I am and will always be grateful for their competency and great customer service! Its too bad that things didnt work out, but the only 2 that even cared we were leaving was Gail and Sherry. The attitude of the vets and rest of the staff are going to destroy the good will that was once a part of Kathleen Animal Hospital.

Friday 10/18/13 I took my min. schnauzer to the vet because the cyst on his leg started swelling and looked about to break open. (On a previous visit the vet said that it was a fatty cyst and if it wasnt bothering him not to worry about it.) I requested that the vet remove the cyst. He refused and instead gave me a referal to an oncologyst because my sweet baby had cancer - he was completely certain in his diagnosis. My choices were; an oncologyst, amputation, put the dog down, do nothing until he dies. I was completely heartbroken. Sunday 10/20/13 Woke up to find that the "tumor" had broken open and was draining. I took Sam to the emergency vet (highly recommendParkway) and they cleaned the area, cut away some dead tissue and stitched up his leg. Instead of cancer, my dog had an abcessed cycst. I contacted Kathleen to let them know what had happened, and asked for 3 things; an apology, a review of the vet that diagnosed cancer and a refund of the money I spent on the 18th since I had to spend even more getting the cyst cleaned and stitched at the emergency vet. I got nothing - the explaination was "professional difference of opinion" take your fur babies to them at your own risk (and theirs)

The most unorganized, expensive, inconsiderate, vet veterinarian clinic Ive ever been to. I took my 11 year old pitbull there because he was acting very strange. So the forced me to pay 76 dollars for a Parvo test before bring him in the clinic, which I know he didnt have parvo. The test came back negative, then they wanted to do blood work, altogether came to $186, after about 30 min, they come back into the room to tell me he has a high white blood cells count. The vet also felt underneath him and said he may have a tumor. They didnt try to help him at all, told me I should put him down, and he wouldnt last in three days. They kept trying to force me to put him to sleep, but I refused, so I brought him back home. The next day he leg swelled up, I knew right then he had been bitten by a spider. I gave antibiotics for a week, now hes back to his normal self. Its bad when youre a doctor and you dont even have the passion for it, you in it for the money, but to everyone here, I will be opening up my own veterinary clinic in two years. I am all for the poor who love their pets and I will be the most inexpensive veterinarian clinic around so remember me. P.s they are the worst DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

My Lab recently went under surgery for his hip at this Kathleen animal hospital and i must say i was not impressed. This place was the only place open and i had no other options at the time as he was in desperate need of surgery. I payed over $1400 to get his surgery and TAKE HOME MEDS and i had to argue with the lady to get take home meds because they screwed up. They wouldnt honor it so i had to pay out of pocket once again for take home meds which they were suppose to include in price. After my dog had surgery they didnt even call me to give me an update or ANYTHING! i had to call. While my dog was being hospitalized their for 3 weeks he became skin and bones they claimed they were feeding him but i doubt they were. Any time i would call to check on him and see how his progress was it was a long drawn out ordeal cause no one knew what was going on.. When i went and picked him up to go home they didnt schedule a follow up visit remind you had major hip surgery, they said he will be fine. I will never use them again the staff is not friendly, doesnt care about the well being of the animals and they are way over priced. I would not trust my fur baby with them ever again. Dont take the chance!
