Please, all pet owners know that I had the worst customer service experience with any of my animals ever at Animal House. My parakeet’s toes have been curled in for a while but it never stopped her from doing anything normal, so when I took her to Dr. Rupp it was actually for something with her oil gland. He asked if she had any previous conditions or issues and I informed him that her feet were somewhat crippled. I don’t know why, but he just sort of shrugged it off so I figured it was not anything to be concerned about. Keep in mind, this was 2-3 years ago while Dr. Rupp was at another location in Davie. I took her to regular check-ups until her gland was healed. Within this past month, her feet got progressively worse. So bad, that she could barely stand properly. I found out that Dr. Rupp had moved to Animal House so I took my parakeet here to get her looked at. He tested her uric acid and said that it was at a level 20 while normal parakeets’ levels are an 8 which means that she has gout. He informed me that it was a common problem in parakeets. I asked him since the level was so high if that means that her gout is progressively bad and he assured me that it was not because he had seen birds with uric acid levels as high as 40 and 50. I also made sure with him that he never actually saw himself anything out of the ordinary with her feet since he had handled her very time I brought her to him, despite my initial statement when I first brought her in for her oil gland and he said no. I paid for a pain reliever medicine and a gout medicine for my parakeet which he told me I am to give her both twice a day. A week after starting both medicines, my parakeet passed away in the middle of giving her the medicines. I called the vet office three times the following day and Dr. Rupp was never able to take three minutes out of his day before leaving the hospital to return an obviously concerned customer’s phone call. He finally called me back the following morning a little after 9 and persisted that both medicines twice a day was not too much for her body to handle. When I told Dr. Rupp that my parakeet died in the middle of giving her the medicines, he said that he had previously told me that her kidneys were FAILING and that she only had a FEW DAYS OR MONTHS TO LIVE. I brought both my sister and my dad to the appointment where he told all of us that she has gout and we were supposed to bring her back for a check-up in two months, and I can assure you that he NEVER disclosed any information of that sort to any of us! In fact, he had told me that the gout was NOT in critical condition. Why would he even advise me to pay for two medicines that were supposed to help her improve her gout if he knew that she only had a few days or months to live regardless? I feel that injustice has been done to my pet and I as we have been shown untrue care for animals and such poor customer service! On top of that, my parakeet had to spend the last days and moment of her life being stressed out and uncomfortable because I was advised to give her these medicines, which I had to open her beak to give her and it stressed her out a lot. I will NEVER bring any of my precious pets back to this place or Dr. Rupp and will NEVER advise anyone to do so with their pets either!

Animal House put a dog up for adoption... at the exact moment in my life I was not only looking to adopt a dog, but I WAS LOOKING FOR A HUSKY AND THEY HAD ONE! When they posted on Facebook about the dog, I could tell their love for animals by the way they described him. Ive never adopted a dog before, so I called to get some information, and everyone at their office was so professional, polite, knowledgeable and didnt mind any of my questions. I rushed over to their office, which, if youve never been, Google Maps took me of course a little bit. Theyre in the plaza on the corner of Pembroke Road and Flamingo, but they are on the West side of the plaza (FACING Flamingo). My first impression of the office was that it was incredibly clean, well-decorating (for Halloween!) and you could tell by the doggie treats on the counter that they are awesome people. They let me meet my buddy Cash, and play with him, and we exchanged questions to see if I was a good fit for my new dog. Since Ive adopted him, Ive had to annoy them quite a bit with tons of questions about his history. My normal vet is a customer of mine, that is much closer, so it makes more sense for me to bring him to my vet for his checkups and stuff - but my vet did just check him out and said he is the happiest, healthiest Husky shes ever met. Which to me was a big compliment to Animal House, because they made sure he was as healthy as he could be before they put him up for adoption. I am forever in debt you guys, for introducing me to my best friend. Id also like to add that all the times Ive visited the office, there have been customers with animals that have had surgery, and the customers smiles explain the service and compassion that Animal House shows everyone. Thank you for everything!

Dr Rupp and his staff have cared for my dogs since 2006 and I cant say enough about how great they have been! During this time I have had 3 elderly dogs with serious health issues. Dr Rupp & staff took the time to get to know my beautiful and challenging dogs and in the process, got to know me. He explained what was going on with my furry family members in a way that I could understand and went above and beyond when things got tough. They have held my hand and offered a shoulder to cry on when the time came because the humans that bring their pets in are as important as the pet! I dont know if I wouldve been able to cope with my dog getting sick a few years ago if it wasnt for them. They took my calls all hours of the day and night and even came to the house when needed. His staff is always friendly, cheerful and welcoming. They are extremely knowledgeable and enjoy teaching people about animals. I have learned SO much. The people at Animal House have become much more than the place I take my dogs too.... They have become friends and I dont think I could ask for better people to take care of my fur babies! If you are tired of being a number or a dollar sign, please give this office a try!

I am pretty picky about my vets ever since I had a couple emergencies with my miniature pinschers, but all I can say is WOW. Dr. Rupp was a very knowledgable vet and explained everything about my dog to me that he needed to. Neither him, nor his staff, tried to pressure me into any services that my dog didnt need and I ended up coming out of there paying less than what I thought I would. For a full vaccination, blood work, de-worming, rabies, heart worm medication for 6 months, and examination I only ended up paying less than $300.00. Considering that this was the first checkup I had done in a while for my dog, it was very thorough and thankfully he is a healthy boy. They were so nice to my dog and so gentle, I trusted them with anything they needed to do for him. I cant say enough nice things about this animal hospital. Thanks Dr. Rupp!
