TO ANYONE CONSIDERING A NEW VET: This is NOT The Planet Pet you heard about when it was first opened. Dr Witte is the Planets new "Top Dog" and he is truly amazing. He has a true affinity for his profession. He empathizes with his patients, treating them with the kindness, respect and thoughtfulness that even some of his "people doctor" counterparts lack. I feel confident and at ease bringing my little scaredy dogs in to see him. His manner is pleasant, casual but professional, and there is no feeling of being rushed through or glossed over. He takes the time he needs to thoroughly diagnose and treat each animal, and he takes a personal interest in each one, making sure that they are each as comfortable as possible while in his care. One of my favorite aspects of the visit is the fact that his waiting room is never crowded with people and their pets. Though it might not be great for business, I can tell you that this is a godsend, having once owned a fear-aggressive dog. Nothing is more alienating than having to wait outside in order to avoid the stress and risk of an altercation. There ARE vet offices in Vero with crowded waiting rooms. And there are those without the crowds but WITH rates that will make your hair stand on end. I believe we have found the best of both worlds at Planet Pet. Dr. Wittes rates are very reasonable and he isnt afraid to offer info about alternatives if any are available (e.g. Dog food, prescriptions, therapies). And of course, a vet is only as good as his or her staff, and they are exceptional too. The facility is clean and bright. All in all, an A+ business to deal with in this small town of many choices.

If you live in the Vero Beach area and have pets, I highly recommend that you use Dr. Witte and Planet Pet for your pet’s health care needs. Years ago, our dogs were patients of Dr. Witte’s when he was practicing in the Fort Lauderdale area. Fast forward 10+ years…we were in Vero Beach when our 16 year-old Maltese, Lily, because seriously ill. We heard that Dr. Witte had a practice in the area and immediately called Planet Pet. We were able to get a same-day appointment. Dr. Witte thoroughly examined Lily, correctly diagnosed her with acute pancreatitis, and began treatment. Over the next 7 days while Lily was being treated and recovering, Dr. Witte himself called us at least once a day to check on Lily. He even called on Sunday, his one day off. Dr. Witte also spent a lot of time dealing with my concerns that, due to her age, Lily may not recover from the illness. I shed a lot of tears worrying about that. Dr. Witte was kind and patient and comforting, as was everyone else at Planet Pet. I’m happy to report that Lily has completely recovered, and is back to her usual frisky behavior. I attribute this to Dr. Witte quick and accurate diagnosis and treatment. My husband and I are truly grateful to him for getting Lily the treatment she needed and for being a tremendous source of information and comfort to us.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Witte and his staff. Planet Pet Animal Hospital is the best "animal caring", Veterinary in Indian River County. I have a number of friends and neighbors who also use their services. Dr. Witte gives 110% with each and every little patient he works with. The personal care given is unmatched. When an emergency has come up, he and his team go the extra mile with research, extra calls, and just support until the situation is resolved. Knowing I have this incredible team to work with helps me sleep at night. What more could you ask for?

Our beloved Silver dog developed another lump when we arrived in Vero for the winter and after performing several tests, Dr. Witte confirmed that it was cancer. Not what we wanted to hear, but we were very pleased with how he and his staff handled the situation. Dr. Witte respected our wishes when it was time to have Silver euthanized in the back of our car to make it less stressful for the dog. We miss Silver tremendously and are very appreciative of the excellent treatment and ( and us people) received. thank you Dr. Witte.

Dr. Witte always takes the time to answer questions and explain everything. We and our two beloved dogs are always treated like family there. We love Planet Pet!! The best veterinary clinic around !! Dr. Witte takes his time and explains everything to you. My dogs are treated like family there. The office hours are fabulous. You never feel rushed out of the office. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. We drive an hour each way to keep them as our vet and I would never consider any other vet to care for my pets.
