We sat in er for 3 hours then they moved 7 of to upstairs. The first cna and rn stated that is was to empty out the lobby. Not one of the medical staff asked how we were. It is now 1015pm and still havent seen a medical professional behind this cutain yet. We are here for a broken foot. I know what every staff member did over the weekend and what motorcycles and cars they grew up with and didnt even talk to them. Good patient care? I think not. Will probably be here for another 3 hours because it is now the nurses cigarette time. So sad. It is now 1050pm a male cna finally came after we asked for help. We let him know how long we have been here and he said if you were down stairs you would still be waiting and then he left. A rn in charge came in and apoligized and then looked at the foot and got him to xray again. Apparently they took xrays of the ankle and not the whole foot. Imagine that. Finally gave him some pain medication. Thank god some one here actually showed some concern. Maybe this hospital should take these employees cell phones away also. Too many personal calls being received during working hours. If they would spend the time taking care of the patients like they do their personal business there wouldnt be as mant bad reviews. Know next time where not to go. So sad. I used to work in a er and have never seen this much disregard.

Absolutely the worst hospital in Polk county I was brought in at 11:00pm by EMS with heart palpitations and g.I bleeding and a bad reaction to antibiotics they prescribed me after failing to review my medical history was sat in lobby n was told they would draw my blood within 10 minutes 2 hours later I asked why my blood has not been drawn yet n they made it apparent they forgot about me after drawing my blood I was sat back in the lobby where I was told that I would have to wait for 6 patience to be discharged before I can see any doctor or talk to any medical staff besides triage after waiting till 4:00am and speaking with people in the lobby that had been there since 6:00 pm the day before I asked the nurse what was going on and she said they were understaffed in it would be quite a while before i see any doctors or medical staff finally I decided to leave after asking for the results of my x-ray and was told that Winter Haven hospital no longer reviews x-rays they have to be sent to another facility to be reviewed and sent back to Winter Haven hospital and it would be several hours before I had the results of my x-rays back if you actually care about your family I suggest never taking them to Winter Haven Hospital

Went to the emergency room for boyfriends eye. This is the worst pain he has been in his whole life. Crystal (nurse) talked to us like we were stupid, her bedside manner was completely non existent . When I told her the numbing drops for his eye caused him more pain, she said thats not true and theres no way. I left and went back into the room right across from her. A few minutes later she was talking to another nurse very clearly saying "Ive never had a patient tell me that numbing drops didnt help. They are so stupid. There numbing drops theres no way they didnt help. Ive NEVER had a patient tell me that." her tone of voice was so rude and condescending. unfortunately, my boyfriend has a previous condition in his eye and it is very sensitive, so yes the drops did make it worse. No we are not stupid. I just wanted him to feel better but this nurse did not help at all. When my boyfriend himself asked for more pain meds she shrugged and walked away. We will go all the way to lakeland if we need the ER again.

I have been to this hospital more than a few times for various issues. Almost every time I have have a bad experience with at least one employee. The last time I went in extremely dizzy and sick with a massive blood pressure spike and had a nurse with an attitude take me to my room, she was extremely rude and as an example said in a hateful tone that "I needed to slow down because I didnt know where I was going". This was after she told me the room number and we were walking down a hall with the doors #s in chronological order. Talk about a condescending a-hole. As a matter of fact most of the staff speak to patients like they are kindergartners even their elders and intellectual superiors. I suspect most people are intellectually superior to and darn sure more respectful than the staff at this hospital, just by the way they talk to each other and their patients. If I had a choice I would go to any other hospital in Polk County.

In a word...UNACCEPTABLE! I went in @ 4pm because my dr. was worried that my BP was to high. (which it had been for 6 days) There were only about 20 people in waiting room. Got my BP retested @ 5pm. Still high. EKG @ 530, Blood drawn @ 6. Got registered around 630...STILL IN ER WAITING ROOM. Finally @ 730 taken in back. BP still HIGH!!!! Saw Technician more than nurse. Had to ask to see DR. Dr...(actually ARPN) Comes in @ 1030pm. Talks a bit; leaves. @ 1 am; received a pill to lower BP. (same one I had taken @ dr. office 6 days prior) Another blood test order. Was finally released at 2am telling me I had bronchitas and to take a stronger BP medicine. I followed up w/ the dr that had originally prescribed the first BP medicine and she said I didnt need to take the stronger one yet. I am completely frustrated with what happened and even though I only live 5 minutes away from WHH; I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!!!

I havent needed to be treated here, and after talking to many locals, I dunno if I want to. I wonder what their mortality rate really is, compared to other hospitals, and is it proportionate to the higher percentage of elderly people living within a relatively short distance. Hospitals are where most/many people die in this country. Big pharma is definitely to blame for this to an extent. Moreover the US "F" & "D" Administration (FDA) should NOT EVER be the same entity PERIOD. Here is some poison...I mean food...food, "Really". Oh, are you now ill with an ailment (due to the poison....I MEAN FOOD...FOOD...darn it...) that "we have a TREATMENT for, but NO CURE". Hey, It has been several decades now, but Im sure that we will have a cure..."real soon though" because Big Pharma is not profit driven (sarcasm). There is no long term profit from a cure, only a treatment...Hmm...

Brought my one year old grandson there before midnight...20 patients waiting so I didnt expect it to go swiftly. At 3:30 am and still no doctor in sight at all I asked the nurse prationer where the doc was...he responded "budget cuts sent one of our docs home at 3!!!patients in neec of attention everyehere and these idiots send a doctor home! I gaurantee my insurance paid for a doc that was thers! However...everyone on your support staff was awesome! Did all they could and still I had to take my grandson to.LRMC...which is where I and ANYONE I care about will NEVER go to winter haven hospital for any reason...their care quality is so below standard its unreal to me! THEY SENT A DOCTOR HOME TO.SAVE MONEY!!!! No worries..Ill never give you a dime of mine! I guarantee these docs wouldnt take their lives ones here!....its just that far below par!!!!!!!!!
