Dealing with this practice has become a nightmare lately! After 5 years I decided to leave. I called asking if they could answer some questions my other Dr wanted to know. After waiting on a call back from the nurse (who needed to ask Chris nurse practitioner) after a week I gave up on that. I called everyday and was just given excuses. I had shots I was taking and that didnt seem important to them. After three days of waiting for a call back and the weekend passed I went in. I needed them to fax my chart to 2 different Drs who have been waiting. They couldnt tell me when they would be able to and if getting it done by a certain date would be possible. Also asked for a copy of my chart she couldnt even do that. I understand they might have a 7 day wait on picking up a chart, but if you cant fax it to my Drs their is something wrong! Ive watched their office manager over the years talk rudely to people and myself. Im not sure how this acceptable to treat patients. Ive never had a practice argue with me so much. They told me I had my labs done which I hadnt with them. My other Dr did those labs so I knew I didnt have them with them. They argued with me then showed me the chart. Turns out they were trying to treat me with someone elses chart under another name not even close to mine. I should of ran then since that could have been dangerous! I stopped scheduling with Jason Berner because his office manager would call and tell me to reschedule. He would book meetings during my appointments (This happened twice)! Im busy as well finding the right days that doesnt conflict with whoever will be watching my child.

I have never had a problem with Dr Berner or any of the staff that they could not fix within reason. Kristin, the nurse assistant, would tell me if the doctor was there to address any medical issue I had or if he was out of the office for however many days/weeks, so I knew exactly how long to wait for an answer before bothering them with another call if need be. The doctor himself is very kind, patient and thorough compared to my last thyroid doctor. He is also a good listener and explains things in a way I can understand them, and he will repeat himself if need be (hence his patience). He makes notes about my other medical conditions and faxes updates to my 2 other doctors. The only thing I dont like is how difficult it is to reschedule. Dr Berner is usually booked solid for 3 months ahead, so thats how long the wait is - unless someone else cancels, and no one else prior to you is on the waiting list. Twas less than fun when I couldnt reschedule either appointment I had on the same day within hours of each other (with him and another specialist with a similar scheduling policy) and they both drew blood. Lightheadedness is not something I drive well on half an hour from home. Other than the scheduling conflicts, I find absolutely nothing wrong with Georgia Mountain Endocrinology or any of its people. Its an excellent practice and earned every single point on all five of my stars for it.

The receptionist is a nightmare. My 18 year old is enrolled in college and a insulin dependent diabetic. They refused to refill his meds because he hasnt been seen by them in a year (though he has seen a nutritionist when he came home for the summer which was 3 months ago), the nutritionist sent notes and they still refuse to refill his meds. The receptionist proceeds to tell me my son is a non compliant patient who has missed 2 appts. Not true, he went to the appt and was told he needed to pay the 200.00 balance. Balance of which should have been filed to the secondary...do your freaking job and stop scaring my child. He is a college student, im pretty sure he doesnt walk around with 200.00 in his pocket. Wish there was another physician in the area.

Cannot give more than one star (dont even deserve that) simply due to the horrible access/correspondence. Lately, it is impossible to reach anyone at the office. For months, the voice mail did not work at all and now when calling you receive an automated message saying the mailbox is full and requests you hang up. I have also tried faxing and emailing, yet, not a single response. I have been desperately waiting for my urgently needed Rx to get approved by this office for almost two months and apparently they do not know how to fill out an Rx as the first time they didnt fill out all required fields and the second time they didnt sign/date it. This is beyond unacceptable!!!

My first appointment was with Tami, the nurse practioner. She was great and spent a lot of time with me as a new type 2 diabetic. She didnt just write out the RX but instead took the time to explain to me and guidelines and other stuff. A few months later I was seen by Dr. Berner. Again, he took the time to explain the new diabetic stuff to me. His office staff has always been friendly, helpful while being very busy. I give him and his staff 5 stars!
