Dr. Mac and her entire staff are OUTSTANDING. We have used Oak Hill off and on for several years, mostly for emergency or questionable things with our dogs. Within the last month or so, our 11 y.o. border collie, Murphie, developed a growth on his eyelid that continued to increase in size. Dr. Mac removed it, and it looked great; however, after about 3 weeks we noticed it was coming back so we went back to see the doc. Obviously, this was a cancerous growth to have come back so quickly, BUT... Dr. Mac took the time to call some "expensive" canine ophthalmology vets up in Athens area and discussed the case. Knowing we didnt have a lot of money, she told us the cost if we took him up there, She said shed never done the particular procedure that was recommended but she was willing to research the surgery and felt confident in her surgical skills to give it a try (for about 1/2 what it would have cost (not counting the time and travel for us). The staff and everyone, watched over him over night and we picked him up early the next morning.. Im delighted to say., while his eye is swollen, as expeced, it looks wonderful. Dr. Mac had to "make a new eyelid" from some skin on his face to protect his eye , and you can hardly tell where she took it. He is able to blink his new eyelid and we feel so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving caring and compassionate vet to care for our fur babies. We definitely appreciate the extra effort that was put forth to save our ole boy. We love Dr. Mac and all the staff. Thaniks so much!!

LOVE this vet. My dog, Koda, has never been so well taken care of. When he comes in everyone knows his name, he boards there frequently, but even after our first time ever boarding him here the staff knew his name and you could tell they treat every pet that comes in as if they were their own. Because of our great experience with his boarding, we decided to use them for his medical care also. Usually when I take him to the vet to update his shots I inform the veterinarian that he can get a little mean when he gets shots and may show his teeth if he feels threatened. At every other vet I have ever taken him to they immediately put a muzzle on him. Here, they came back to the room with some calming spray on a handkerchief, tied it around his next and said to wait a few minutes for it to kick in. I have never seen my dog so calm to get shots before. The fact alone that they didnt force him to wear a muzzle makes me want to come back to them time and time again. You can tell everyone on the staffs first priority is to make sure your pet is comfortable, they love what they do and they love your pets like their own.

Dr. Beth, as my babies know her, is the only Doctor I have taken my animals to in many many years.. I have seen her before she opened her clinic, Oak Hill Animal Hospital, and have been through many happy lives of many pets from the Guinea pigs my kids had when they were young, to the many cats and dogs Ive had and still have. There are too many stories to share here but the one that most stands out right now is Willie, my miracle (thanks to dr. Beth) dachsund. She diagnosed him in 2007 with an autoimmune disease which almost cost him his life at barely a year old. With much knowledge, understanding, love, and care from Dr. Beth, I am blessed to say Willie is sitting right on my lap at this moment I am writing this review. He had his teeth cleaned this week and is a very healthy senior dog! I trust her completely and assure anyone looking for the best Doctor for their pets they can say they found her! The clinic is filled with loving, caring people and I cant say how much I highly recommend

Unfortunately Im sorry to say I do not have a good review to post. I took my dog a few months ago to be checked for vomiting and just feeling sluggish. Dr. Beth Brown McElhenny made me feel like I was an unfit parent to my dog. I assure you I am not. My dog lives a high life and sleeps with me every night and is extremely well taken care of. I treat him like my child. She told me that my dogs kidneys were shutting down and he wouldnt live much longer. She continued to belittle me in a disrespectful tone as well. It just seemed like she was in a hurry and in a very bad mood....almost as if I was an inconvenience to her and that she was better than me. A week later I got a 2nd opinion at a different vet and they confirmed there is nothing wrong with my dogs kidneys and that he must have just had a stomach bug. They ran tests on him and everything checked out just fine. Needless to say we will not be visiting Oak Hill again.

I was referred to Dr. McElhenny for a breeding issue. I deal with dogs and dog people every day. Dr McElhenny has taken the time, when I go into her office, to listen to me and concern herself with my dogs and their breeding. She has actually gone a step above and done research and contacted me of her own accord. Any vet can treat a symptom, it takes a real vet to listen and treat the illness. Her knowledge and skills far exceed any other vet I have worked with!

My two year old Plott Hound, a rescue Ive had for one year, has adjusted well under the care and guidance of Dr. McElhenny, and her dedicated staff. He is always welcomed and patiently attended when we visit. I particularly love their VIP program. My vet bills have been easier to manage since enrollment in the program. Kudos, to Oak Hill Animal Hospital for the gentle care and treatment of my K9 buddy, and my pocketbook!

Their website says they see reptiles, so I brought my reptile here. They were very helpful but I was concerned when all their knowledge came from a brochure. Really I know they mean well but please please dont bring reptiles here. The staff is very friendly but I feel very uncomfortable bringing in a pet that they say they can help but all their knowledge and advice comes from a brochure.

Dr Mac is awesome and I had a great experience with the new doctor there last week. They are in this business because they love animals, and they do their best to keep customer costs reasonable. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my dogs and cat.
