Every time I leave Coal Mountain Animal Hospital I feel cheated. I moved to this area and used them because of their location. I read the bad reviews and now I wished I listened to them! I went in for my yearly examination and they offered a junior canine test. I have learned my lesson in the past by not asking how much something costed in the past so I asked how much would this test would run. I was told around 70$ with no other explanation. When I checked out the price on the bill was $112 for the junior canine test.... on top of the annual examination fee and the annual shots (which are the charges I expected). My bill was close to $300. When I brought up the fact that I was told the test was $70 NOT $112, they explained to me that it was $70 on top of the annual fee. How am I suppose to know that?! When I was told $70, then I expected to see $70 on the bill. Which is fine, but dont make it sound like it is $70 when on the bill it runs $112. It was not clear to me how much the price was. I felt cheated and when I asked they assistants they made me feel dumb. She even admitted to saying the test was $70. Nothing was ever offered to fix the misunderstanding. Again, this is NOT the first time that this has happened to me. A very similar situation happened with the grooming services. Please be careful when using this vet and ASK questions when something doesnt make sense!!!

After diagnosing our dog with an immune problem that had to be monitored they called us at 5 pm and told us to pick up our dog and take it to an emergency care facility. Our dog desperately needed a transfusion. The refused to take the time to do it. They waited too late in the day to check up on our dog and because of their error wanted us to spend 1200 dollars at an emergency vet because they wanted to go home. Their idea of monitoring was walking her twice a day and giving her pills. They were not watching her condition. If they had then our dog might be alive today. Then the "dr" told us she was doing us a favor by waiting 10 extra minutes for us to get there past closing. Then when our dog some how made it through the night they refused to take her in again because I questioned their incompetence. I had to start all over again with another vet and our dog died that night. If you love you dog AVOID this vet. The service is terrible. They might be able to handle getting your shots but when it comes to a real problem find someone else.

As a former employee of Coal Mountain, from 2006 to 2008 approx. I would like to say that I know your animals are getting the best care possible, from people who care. The kennels are clean and when they say animals are walked twice a day, I can say from experience that every dog gets walked twice a day, when I say walked I mean walked for a good 7 to 10 minutes not just walk out the door and stand there to pee. I love my former employer. As for the comments about front desk customer service, according to their site they have made, I believe, some positive changes in employees. I believe that if these people tried again they would have a different experience! The groomer Michelle is the sweetest person, and really loves the dogs (and cats!) she works with. Even if your dog is super bad, she stays sweet!

I took my beagle mix to Coal Mountain Animal Clinic to have a tooth pulled which was infected. While she was under I asked them to go ahead and remove a lump on her throat that she had for awhile. She was diagnosed at another clinic with the infection so the staff apparently wrote this down wrong when I brought her in or the vet misread the instructions. They took out the lump but left the infected tooth in. (the main reason I went). I asked them if they would waive the anesthetic fee if her tooth became infected again (the antibiotics had taken care of it then) and they werent going to do it. The vet finally agreed. Amazing! I wont bring my pets there again. Poor customer service.

PROS: Most of the staff members are friendly; they seem to appreciate & respect both the animals and their owners. The doctors are knowledgeable, professional and courteous and seem to genuinely want to help keep their patients happy and healthy. The boarding facilities at CMAH are very good, especially for the cats. The dog kennels are a bit cold with all the steel cages, but I guess that is to be expected. CONS: Most medications and test results are quite expensive in comparison to others. +++ Pet Grooming at Coal Animal Hospital is EXCELLENT because of Michelle, who has been there for many years. She is highly experienced, kindhearted and the crown jewel of this entire office.

We have been using Coal Mountain Animal Hospital for about 3 years now for our cats, dog and boarding needs, and have been very impressed with their professionalism and caring. They went above and beyond with a sick pet of ours and didnt charge us anywhere near what they could have for the services and operation they provided. Agreed the front desk staff can come across as indifferent, but the doctors and technicians truly love animals and go to any lengths to give your pets the very best care.

My vet had passed away and I was trying to find a new vet. I have an elderly German Shepard. The first vet I tried totally discounted everything I said and my dog continued to suffer. A friend referred me to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital and I could not be more happy with the service my dog and I have received there. The vet listened to what I had to say and treated my dog accordingly. Kiley (my dog) is doing so much better! Thank you so much Coal Mountain Animal Hospital!

Referred by family members to CMAH when we moved to the Cumming area. Not only with the fine medical services that they offer, but with their caring attitude whenever we have boarded our little Jack Russell. Our little girl is getting on in years (13-14) and shes a bit nervous when we leave her. However, when we pick her up shes happy to see us, but not nervous. Highly recommend this animal hospital.

I have four pets and the staff treats them all like they are very special. Dr. Stephanie Hartsfield-Vinson loves animals and you know it when you talk with her. Her compassion is very apparent when treating a sick fur baby. They follow up the next day after treatments to make sure the pet is doing well, which gives you an opportunity to ask any questions. I have had great experiences with this practice.
