I have mixed reviews of this place. 3 years ago, they saved my moms cat, Oreo. Also, just a few days ago they saw Oreo and gave him great care, after having to wait in a room from 9:30 pm until 1:30 AM before he was even seen by a doctor. However, when they saw my cat, Boots I did not feel the same care was given. Maybe the bed side manner was just not well, but I felt totally defeated after seeing them. I had an amazing experience at Crossroads and another amazing experience at the specialist my kitty went to. However, with this place, I was told my kids would understand and understand more than I would think and that I should put him down. I tried to explain that I felt I needed to do everything I could for my pet that my kids view as their own sibling. And I was told I had already done enough by bringing him to the vet at 2 am. I was also told by one of the nurses that "I just about killed you cat drawing blood." Then she explained what she did. The way it was described to me, was not done in the best way and I felt they could have been more compassionate towards the situation. I was also told over and over how they cant do much testing and what not due to them closing at 7 am in the morning. As well as when I first arrived, they said my cat was stable and left us in a room for almost an hour without him being seen. When, in fact, he was in critical condition. Overall, its hard for me to review this place due to what my personal experience is. However, I will say that they did save my moms cat so I guess they arent all bad. Overall, if you can help it though, I would suggest waiting until your regular vet opens and bringing them there.

I have read the other reviews that people have written and given only 1 star and i am sorry that you had a bad experience but i must disagree with your statements. I went to this facility for the first time on Sunday May 5, 2013 with my dog that i had for 16 years. Her name was Peaches. Peaches had been going through the old age dying process for one week and i was devastated but i had to put her to sleep because i could not see her suffer any longer. The two ladies at the front desk and the lady technician that helped me were nothing but wonderful to me and my husband. They all understood the grief i was going through and handle my feelings with the utmost compassion. They gently took peaches into the exam room and talked to her and told me i could spend as much time as i needed with her before saying goodbye. This was one of the most saddest days for me. Peaches had been my best friend for 16 years. The best thing about the whole process was the fact that they took peaches once she had gone to heaven and prepared her body and placed her in the sweetest white cardboard coffin and wrote the sweetest message on the top of it. I would have never thought that a place like that would do something so nice for us animal lovers. Most Vets would just have you carry them home yourself. Southern Crescent also took a print of her paw and placed it in clay for me to have a long lasting memory of Peaches. I want to thank each and everyone of you that were there that day. You helped make a very, very sad day for me a little easier by being as compassionate as you all were. God bless each of you in a very mighty way.

My dog went to the groomer on a Friday afternoon for a summer cut. He acted anxious when we got home, then the next day was licking and dragging, then by Sunday he was yelping and whining and cowering so we took him to S.A.V.E.S. It was a 3 hour process, even after we were placed in front of others because of our dogs loud yelping and whining. The vet said he had "inflamed anal glands" and assured us that the grooming had nothing to do with his discomfort. We got medication and a collar and were charged $279. By Tuesday the dog was even worse and had refused to go to the bathroom for a couple of days so we called S.A.V.E.S. for a followup visit. However, we were told there was no such thing as a "follow up" and that we would have to pay an additional $125 to be seen as if it was a new case. I asked for special consideration but were told the full charge was required as "company protocol". We declined and went to another reputable vet who confirmed that he had indeed been cut too closely and had been misdiagnosed by the clinic. He was worse because we were putting medication on the wrong area as directed by the S.A.V.E.S. vet and were told that his anal glands were not inflamed. The S.A.V.E.S. staff was courteous but inefficient, they completely misdiagnosed my dog, causing him prolonged suffering, and then were unreasonable and callous about following up on his "medical plan". This will be my last visit to this place.

In Jan. our 12 year old Akita, Kodi, whom we adore, suddenly became gravely ill. I rushed him to SCAEC and called on our way in that I was bringing in a case of bloat. They took us in immediately upon arrival and quickly x-rayed him and came out with even graver news, it was beyond bloat, something called GDV where his stomach had actually flipped, there are a lot more details of it, but that will make the post too long! Anyhow, they prepped for surgery, then came out to let me know he had passed before they could get him on the table. I was devastated. Dr. McIntyre was so kind, took me to a room where I could wait fro them to bring him to me so I could sit with him awhile. She came back about 20 minutes later with an odd look on her face and the miraculous news that he had revived himself!!!!!!!!!!!! They got him stabilized and went ahead with what turned into a 4 hour surgery involving all 3 vets and a tech. They could not have been kinder, more professional, and man, they saved my darling boy!!!!!!! We transported to Auburn Univ. the next day for a week of ICU care..... With their heroic efforts Kodi lived almost another year, as we just recently lost him.....We are devastated at his loss but so grateful that we had more time with him than we would have. He succumbed to old age and complications of arthritis. .... we miss him so, but will always be thankful that SCAEC was there when we needed them!

I have mixed reviews about this place...I had to make a hard decision and put my 4 and a half year old baby girl down due to lymphoma. My regular vet recommended i take her here. When i arrived the staff was great. I was a mess before i walked in their door. I was put in a room and was allowed to spend a little time with her before the vet came in. The vet was wonderful. She was nice and tried to console me. In all honesty, i was expecting the vet to give her a sedative before the lethal dose. That didnt happen. Which led to a very traumatic event. The vet gave her a little bit to start the process. My baby freaked out, tried to get up and then shel looked up at me and then her head just fell to the floor. I was expecting a sedative. I wanted her last few minutes to be pain-free, and my poor baby died in pain. Fast forward a week. I was a mess the day i let her go, and i couldnt remember if i gave the office my number to call me when her ashes were ready. So i called them, just to make sure. They proceeded to tell me "Well mam, your dog has been sitting in the fridge for the last week and was just picked up today". That is beyond inappropriate. We all know it happens. There needs to be time for the crematory to come pick them up. But this is information grieving pet owners dont need to know. I would never go back to this place. EVER.
