I was admitted due to severe mental illness and suicidal ideation. Since Im 15, I was put in the adholecent unit. Over a few days, I started becoming really sick because I they didnt have my medicine. I started getting really bad withdrawal symptoms, and I tried to sit and rest as often as possible because I had a constant migraine (and they can only give you 1 advil every few hours so I couldnt get help if I tried) but I was forced to walk back and forth with everyone. Sad to say, I never got any of my medicines except for Welbutrin. Luckily, I got a few chances to take a nap in the quiet room (a tiny room with a mattress) so I could feel better. The staff was nice, but very strict and angry at times. They enjoyed talking to us and checking on us. I have to admit, the food really made everything worth it to me. The meals were AMAZING, and you have several choices for drinks. They also have options for vegans, like tofu chicken nuggets and salad. A huge problem that I filed several complaints about was that we are supposed to be taken to bed by 9. We usually got to our rooms at 10:30. And they wake us at 6 in the morning. Personally, I was extremely tired along with several of the other kids due to this. At one point, there was a serious problem during a meal time. The adholecents and adults are not supposed to be near eachother, but during mealtime, theres a few seconds of them passing by us. During these few seconds, a new adult got confused stepped to the side in our line, and another adult reached over and grabbed her, shook her, and screamed at her - NOT a staff member. The girl was crying and telling her to not touch her because the woman was hurting her, and staff didnt do much about it. I was discharged after about a week. Recently, I contacted the hospital, and they still havent replied to me. Its been a week. Overall, this place is VERY unprofessional, but the things I learned made one of my illnesses go away almost completely. Im happy I got the chance to come, but I would never want to go back, because I constantly felt threatened and the days felt so long. There arent that many activities and we have extremely restricted freedom when it came to those activities. If I had to go back for any reason at all, I would hope that they would have my medicine in on time, improve supervision, and stop ignoring the complaints I filed.

My partner has gotten dramatically worse since arriving two days ago. They wont help her get transferred somewhere else because everyone goes home on the weekends, even the case workers and many psychiatrists, and anyone who stays is too busy to do a good job. She waited 29 hours to even be seen by the psychiatrist, (even though you have to be seen within 24 hours), and they wouldnt give her her prescribed medication until he saw her. She got there at 10:30am on Friday (hadnt taken any meds yet), was seen Saturday at 3:30pm, and didnt receive medication until Saturday night (not sure when, but it was later than 8:30). The physician denied her bedrest even though she told him she had mono. They refuse to let her in her room (even after a note was made that she needs bedrest) and left her to lie on the floor in the main room, without getting the physician or calling me (I told them I was her advocate and know all her medical history.) They got upset at her when I told them to run things by me and tried to tell them what she needs because she is unable to advocate for herself. Due to her mental state she cannot explain her situation fully, and I had already explained many times that I am her advocate--still, no one would talk to me or tell me what was happening. I told them within minutes of her arrival that she was supposed to be at a different hospital and needed to be transferred (I had heard the horror stories), and three days later nothing has been done about it. She is continuously triggered while in group by hearing other peoples traumas, yet they dont let her leave and will make her leave the bathroom if she tries to step out. People touch her although it triggers her and they dont let her separate from the group although being around other people (especially unstable people) scares her and gives her anxiety. No one will let me tell them this, however, and the psychiatrist is completely unreachable. The woman at the front desk has no authority to help anyone after hearing complaints and the nurses wont come up to talk to you. There are a million locked doors between the patients and the outside, and no way to reach the psychiatrist or physician as a family member. This whole system is incredibly flawed. Shes there right now, suffering, as I write this, and apparently here is absolutely nothing I can do to stop it or help her.

Summitridge mental hospital exposed, I admitted myself into summitridge hospital in lawnenceville GA, To get a insight about summitride mental facility. Heres the things I’ve seen, Staff, Staff being mean to mental patients calling them names and yelling at them when they dont understand. They don’t build the person up they break them down. They ignore their needs and act like they aren’t there. They called me names and put me down. Names include (nasty” staff member: twana) (idiot staff member: katie) I was laugh in my face for taking up for a patient who was getting bullied by staff. And they speak about patients in a Nigerian language and point and laugh. (Staff member: Gyse) Health environment, They wouldn’t go get clean towels for patients to get a shower. So I had to use a sheet and the other patients didn’t even get a shower. This was on the acute unit. A patient wiped poop all over the walls and they left it there for hours. They have hair stuck in the drains, the floors have trash, the bathrooms and rooms have mold in them, the tables are greasy. Me and another patient (kelly) had to put hand sanitizer on napkins and wipe the tables out on acute unit, the dinning room has flies and ants in the windows (has been there for days) there is hair in the floor there. The same piece of hair in the same spot for the whole 6 days I was there. That’s how I knew they didn’t clean the floors. I’ve found hair in my food 4 times (they gave me new food) Treatment, They don’t give the right treatment to the patients. They have psychiatric patients with detox patients learning how to get off drugs than learn about how to deal with depression and suicidal thoughts. (I was one of them patients Responsibility with medication, They don’t not give the patients meds on time. They give it to them hours late. They gave the wrong medication to the wrong patient (patient: heather) they give shots for no reason and threaten unstable patients with them. They put evil in lawnenc(evil)e. It’s a horrible place and should be investigated! Article by: Abigail Mcfall See you on fox 5 news. With 5 other ex patients

I normally don’t write reviews however, this one is quite well deserved. As an employee of Summit Ridge Hospital for about 1.5 years, I have seen the organization transition into a place I would happily bring family (if the need came about) and would comfortably recommend to friends, colleagues and even strangers. I can work just about anywhere but honestly, I am exactly where I desire and need to be. Our workers are some of the best in the industry, they are well qualified possessing degrees, licenses, experience and have been well-vetted. Most importantly, they love what they do. I see an elevated level of persistence everyday when our techs takes a little more time to help adolescents process the events of an intense family session; and when those employees got together and purchased clothing for several patients that had none more than what was on their backs. Then there was the time when an adult male got his situation under control, resumed working and reconnected with his family. After all, “This is what we do”. There is a plethora of other golden moments produced by “The Ridge” yet, we neither have the time nor space to discuss. Under our new leadership, “The Ridge” as it is warmly called by many its employees maintain a very skillful, caring and dedicated team. This care is further evident by and seen in the CEO’s enthusiastic involvement with the company’s ground zero staff responsible for passing medications - to her deep concern that we as employees should never settle with simply meeting but, surpassing the expectations of every patient under our care. Again, I can work just about anywhere but honestly, I am exactly where I need and desire to be; working right here at “The Ridge” with a team I know, I trust and look forward to seeing the next day. A team of individuals that rely on each other, understand customer service perfectly; believes and knows that the patients we serve is the “life blood” of our organization. The same team that has positively changed the lives of many thousands and is looking forward to helping that next person overcome the issues they face.
