I am totally impressed with Derick Dermatology. About 2 years ago I went to another Dermatologist and had him check a spot on my face. He didnt seem to worry and gave it a quick look and said it was OK. For some reason I just didnt think he was correct. I waited and finally went to Dr. Derick. Before going to the office I researched Dr. Derick. I found her to be a very well informed individual. Her credientials were outstanding. She looked at the same spot but opted for a biopsy. This was done in her office and really was not uncomfortable. Results came back and she felt it needed to be removed. She sent me to a Surgen and he did the removal using Mohs procedure. I cant than her enough. I was over joyed when I left the surgens office and he told me I was now cancer free. GREAT TO HEAR. Because of Dr. Derick and this surgen I can rest easy. Had my stiches our today and Karen Smith, PA was wonderful. Great job from a very happy patient. I will always be grateful to Dr Derick and her staff for their extream knowledge and professional manor. Your not treated as another insurance claim but as a valued patient. Personally stating, one would be crazy to go to any other when you have the best right here in Barrington.

I recently took my daughter to Derrick Dermatology, and we were seen by Karen Smith PA-C. She was absolutely wonderful. She examined my daughter carefully, asked a lot of questions, and gave us a lot of helpful information. We loved her. Then, I made an appointment for my son. We were seen by Michelle Bate FNP. She walked into the room, examined my son, and told us he needed to use lotion, and his rash would go away. I really didnt pay money to have a physicians assistant tell my son to use lotion.....especially since he has had this rash for years...and weve tried that already. She didnt ask any questions, didnt act like she cared, and acted like she had somewhere else to be. I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor/physicians assistant in my life. It was insane. And to top it off, she was getting frustrated with me for asking questions, and trying to get some sort of a possibility of what my sons rash could be. I have a medical background (which I didnt tell her), and even if I didnt , I know that is not how you treat a patient.....EVER! We will go back, but we will not be seeing Michelle ever again. And if they ask me why, I will be happy to tell them.

I went here for some dry skin (psoriasis) and as soon as my PA walked in the door, she was very cold and quick to diagnose a steroid medication for me to put on my face. I had a mole I also wanted her to look at and she said she would take a quick look and usually that requires another appointment. After some weeks of using this steroid medication, it wasnt working and I went back for her to prescribe me ketoconazole to wash my face with and she also prescribes Elidel, since Ive said its worked in the past. Still...nothing has improved and I recently went to another dermatology location and met with a doctor, who seemed very agitated at what had been prescribed to me...saying a steroid should rarely be prescribed for the face and ketoconazole is actually drying and very cheap, so its a good option for people who dont have insurance. I have top of the line insurance and am very upset I was given such lack of care but I seem to be in much better hands with an actual doctor. Will never be here again nor will I recommend.

I did a lot of research into a dermatologist before choosing to go to Derick Dermatology. All reviews I read on other clinics had horrible bedside manner reports. Dr. Derick had the best reports in terms of treatment & bedside manner. Dr. Derick is abrupt, blunt & to the point. Which honestly caught me a bit off guard. But then she saw my paw print tattoo & she asked if I was a dog person. I explained I owned a pet sitting business. We chatted about being a woman who owns her own business & its not easy in today society etc. So she was cool & was a bit social. Not really a warm fuzzy kind of bedside manner. Maybe its a dermatologist kinda thing? Dr. Derick gets down to business & takes care of it. She examined the areas in question, told me what she thought they were, what my options were & took care of what I chose to treat. Then noted areas we did not treat for future reference. The staff was friendly & easy to work with. I was in & out within 25 mins! Id go back to her.

My overall experience at Derick Dermatology was fantastic. I went there after my last dermatologist pretty much gave up on my acne problems without ever finding a cure. With Kathi and the MA Laura, I went over my long list of failed over the counter acne treatments as well as my prescribed ones. I could tell that they really listened and cared, and felt my frustration. They gave me some samples and a new RX and told me to give it a try but to let them know if it wasnt working. Just a few weeks later, I could see the difference but my face wasnt exactly where I wanted it. So I gave them a call, and Laura said they would call my pharmacy and make the pills stronger. WOW! I have never had this much confidence in my face. I am so appreciative of everything they did for me! I will be back for sure, and recommend this office to everyone!!

I scheduled an appointment with another dermatologist in the area and after I hung up the phone, I knew I didnt want to take my son there. I went to yelp and read the reviews for Derick dermatology, made the call and immediately following, cancelled the previous appointment with the other physician. Upon arrival the professional staff made us feel at ease and there was minimal time spent in the waiting area (I happen to manage an oral surgeons practice at Water Tower Place, so I am sensative to all aspects of a practice). The assistant (Lanae) who took the health history couldnt have been more attentive and professional and the PA, (Karen) was professional, educated and made my son feel very comfortable. I have already referred 2 people to Derick Dermatology after having just been there only yesterday.

I visited Derick Dermatology for the first time today and was very favorably impressed, right from the moment I walked into the office. The office is beautifully appointed, from the pictures on the wall to the wide variety of magazines available to patients. The staff at the front desk was friendly and efficient. I was especially pleased by the promptness of my being called in for my appointment. I received very useful information during my initial consultation from one of Dr. Dericks assistants and was extremely pleased with the information provided by Dr. Derick and by the cosmetic injections that she gave me. Overall, my experience was very positive, to the extent that I will continue to be a patient at Derick Dermatology and will recommend Derick Dermatology to my friends.
