We were extremely disappointed with the way our cat Romeo was treated on Saturday at McKillip animal hospital. We came in to follow up after a recent trip to the emergency vet in which they determined Romeo had a UTI. While we were at McKillip, the doctor was great with Romeo, but the vet tech (male, not sure of his name) was really rude and unhelpful. The doctor thought Romeo might need to have his anal glands expressed, so they took him back to do that while we waited in the lobby. When the vet tech brought him back to us 30 minutes later, he said, "your cat lost his temper and urinated and defecated on himself. He wouldnt let me clean him, so I just put him back in his carrier. Hell probably clean himself later." Im pretty sure my cat didnt "let" you express his anal glands, or take his blood, or anything else either, and somehow you still managed to get it all done? So in other words, the male technician didnt want to deal with it, and it was easier to just put him back in his crate and send us on our way, so that he didnt have to worry about it. This was completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Romeo smelled worse than anything I have ever smelled in my life, due to not cleaning off whatever was expressed from the anal glands, combined with the urine and feces that apparently were produced due to the amount of stress/pain caused by the male technician (which has also never happened before in the 12 years Romeo has been alive, and he has seen many vets). You are a vets office! This is not ok. Cats never like baths - this is not specific to Romeo. Due to the laziness of this technician, we got kicked out of two cabs on the way home because of the overwhelming, nauseating smell, and ended up having to walk home with our cat in his crate over two miles. This was traumatizing for both us and our cat, who is an indoor cat and not used to loud cars and people. Additionally, if you absolutely could not give the cat a bath, could you have at least taken the small blanket and shirt out of his crate before throwing him in there covered in all of that? Or ask us first if we would like to get that stuff out?? Shirt and blanket ruined. We will never be back there. And the male technician should really consider whether this is the proper job for him. If you cant give a cat a bath after a procedure like that, why are you working at a vets office? Completely unprofessional. And completely unacceptable to be treated that way. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!

After my dealings with McKillip today I am horrified and will definitely never return. I dropped my cats off this morning to have them boarded while the windows in our apartment were replaced. Our cats were boarded numerous times in the past at our previous vet, and they were always well behaved and well loved by the staff. After checking out and paying for the boarding service when we came to pick them up, we proceeded to wait almost 15 minutes for our cats to be returned to us. Twice the receptionist looked my direction and claimed that they were coming. Then, she approached me to tell me that one of our cats had become mean and they had great difficulty getting her into her carrier. This sounded odd considering shes the type of cat to walk right in when you open the carrier door. She then went on to tell me that my cat was so upset she had pooped herself, and they werent going to clean up the mess. To make this infuriating story short, when we arrived home and got our cat out of her carrier it became clear to me that she had pooped several hours ago. While I had expected diarrhea, instead her carrier was full of hard, dry (ie, old) turds. I question if my cat was ever removed from her carrier to begin with. Both cats immediately ran to drink water and use their litterboxes upon leaving their carriers. This is not common behavior for them upon returning home from boarding, which indicates to me that McKillip failed to meet their most basic needs in the 7ish hours they spent there. Horrible. There is absolutely no excuse.

I went here on a recommendation. I will never return. The relief vet gave me advice that would either kill my dog or allow him to run away. My dog had a bad reaction to k9 advantix which caused hot spots all over his body this caused his skin under his armpits to break down and create an open sore. I took him to the ER and they gave him medicine and advised a mesh harness so it is away from his arm pits and to ensure this never happens again only have him wear his harness on walks. I took him to Mckillips as a follow up as i am new to the neighborhood and needed a new vet. Dont get me wrong there was a few positives. But they were very minor. The waiting room was nice. I like the free parking. But that is it. The relief vet advised that my pug wear a normal collar and never wear a harness. A PUG CAN NOT WEAR A COLLAR. If a pug wears a collar it can damage their trachea and can kill them. Or based off their necks it will slide off with the slightest tug allowing him to escape. As I love my dog this advise was horrible. To me it is akin to malpractice. The regular vet may be nice, may be capable but the relief vet is Horrible.

I recently brought my very ill cat to McKillip Animal Hospital. From the minute I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. The vet techs, doctors and other staff members have been great since the moment I met them. They are thorough, polite and communicate really well. As someone who is not knowledgeable of medical terminology, I feel like I have been able to keep up to speed on the progress of my cat. Dr. Teiber has been my cats primary physician and she has been wonderful. She is always willing to talk to me whether I call or am there in person. Dr. Teiber makes sure that I understand whats going on and has shown tremendous care when working with my "baby". Dr. Glater, Dr. Brizgys, Dr. Bender and Dr. Larson have all been able to see my cat and help keep me updated. Their communication as a team has really helped me keep at ease knowing that everyone at the hospital understand his case. Alexa, Kayla, Elaine and Patty have also been extraordinarily helpful; Always answering questions, showing compassion and helping me through each obstacle. I am so glad that brought my cat to McKillip Animal Hospital and HIGHLY recommend them.

We wont be going back after repeated poor staff interactions and misleading pricing. Beware of this clinic if you cant afford to pay for all of the "extras," of which when quoted, their prices jump about 50%. (Of which they do not provide estimates.) Front desk staff is immature, albeit young, and doesnt interact with customers very well. Actual Doctors are nice, but pricing is WAY too high for comparable services. When questioned, desk staff excuse was "Find another vet in Lincoln Park with lower prices." In other words: they are priced against their competition in lieu of actual cost to do the procedure. This is an unethical business model and takes advantage of those in need of a qualified veterinarian. Our family already drives 15 miles to get grooming done so we dont have to pay for the Lincoln Park pricing, which not all families can afford. I guess we need to start driving out of the area to find a more affordable vet. This facility also has no parking. After 5 years, the entire life of our dog, we wont be going back. He wont care.
