I wish I could give a negative rating...I have taken my dog there for many years when Dr. Unsell was the veterinarian and he was amazing. He and his staff were always very friendly and customer service oriented. Under the new ownership, they are unprofessional and have zero customer service. I waited for almost 2 hours (lobby & exam room), later to find out that there was an emergency that came in while I was waiting. I understand emergencies and if that was my pet, I certainly would want her treated first. However, the customer service thing to do would have been to let me know that they had an emergency and that my wait could be 60-90 minutes extra and ask if I would like to continue to wait or reschedule, you know since we all have busy schedules (hint: I would have rescheduled). But unfortunately that is not what they did. They kept me waiting in a room for 1 1/2 hours, not knowing the reason. I finally popped my head out to ask how much longer and then they decided to tell me. I waited another 15 minutes and then had to leave for another appointment. I told the front desk person that “I would have to reschedule” and she said “okay” in a high pitched snarky voice, to which I replied, “I bet you are”. – meaning I know you don’t care about customers, so I bet you are “okay” with me leaving. A couple days later I requested my dog’s records to be faxed to a new vet and also emailed to me. When I received their “notes” on what occurred that day I was flabbergasted! In their notes, they say they apologized a few times (LIE) and also that when I left, I said “this is ridiculous, I’m done” and that they apologized again to try and make it right. ANOTHER HUGE LIE! In fact their whole account for what happened from beginning to end was a complete and total lie. Why would they even put personal statements like that in my dog’s record to begin with? I know, because they are retaliating against me for switching to a new VET! These notes were sent to my new vet with these lies making it look like I’m a difficult customer/pet owner and out of line, when in fact Edwardsville Pet Hospital staff were completely out of line! Totally disrespectful, unprofessional, and childish with their retaliation of LIES in my dog’s file! I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars there due to my pet’s health issues…but guess what, my money works just fine at other professional establishments. Don’t waste your time or money on this place!

They are very up-front with costs, and dont slip in extra costs - not sure what the other reviews about the pricing are about.... Due to a dog that has cancer, we come here more often than we like too! The staff is always very friendly and very attentive and loving towards the animals. Because of our work schedules, the doctors would often see our dog when my husband would bring her in, and then also make time on a different day to review her X-rays or whatever with me. These additional "appointments" I would come alone & the doctor (vet) would pull up the X-ray and go through things with me, often lasting quite long, at no additional charge - these were concerning questions I had that I could not be answered by my husband from the original appointment. I wanted to make sure I understood what was going on with our dog, and the vets here went above and beyond to answer every question I had (and I always have a lot). At the onset of the cancer, the doctor was able to recognize there was something wrong with our dog, but would not diagnosis the cancer. Which is completely acceptable, just like human doctors, these are "general practitioners", not specialists, and they referred us to a special cancer doctor. There was no guessing game where we wasted money on appointments for them to check random things first and then only to later be referred elsewhere. It was recognized & referred immediately, with no wasted visits or wasted money. Because of the ups and downs health-wise with a dog with cancer, we often would need last second appointments, and Edwardsville was able to accommodate on tight timelines & also meet our work demands so we werent missing too much work trying to care for our dog. We also had another dog and 3 cats, which also were seen at Edwardsville. However, they are more "normal" and were just seen for "normal" visits. Edwardsville was also available to prepare our paperwork for the animals, as well their immunizations for their travel out the country. We have now moved to Europe and Edwardsville was able to ensure all our animals had the correct vaccinations, microchips, and other health information/paperwork ready. Everything was prepared as it needed to be in order for us to get the animals out of the country and accepted without issue into Europe with us.

Never go to this Vet!!! This clinic puts business and money ahead of your pets needs even if it means killing your best friend. We are new to Edwardsville and we came home to find our black lab unable to walk one evening after work. We rushed him to the closest vet which happened to be Edwardsville Pet Hospital. They told us he likely had internal bleeding and they would take X rays to find out more but there was no way for them to know what exactly it was without an ultrasound which they couldnt do from their office and he would need a blood transfusion right away which they also could not do. After taking the x ray the vet showed us what appeared to be a mass and told us our only option was to take him to an emergency clinic on the other side of St. Louis (at rush hour). We asked if there was one in Springfield because we could get there faster. They sent us to one in Springfield. About 10 minutes out from the emergency clinic he passed away. Weeks later I have found out from a different vet that there is an emergency clinic 10 minutes away in Collinsville and that some vets dont send people there because they are "competition." The Collinsville emergency center has donor animals and can easily and quickly perform blood transfusions and other emergency services. There is no way of telling if Mason would have made it or not but we would have at least been able to get him medical attention right away without driving him an hour either direction. Oh and dont worry they had no problem charging me for the office visit and x ray before we left knowing that there were better options than putting him in a car for an hour. Clearly their bottom line comes before the wellness and life of anyones pets. I will now do everything in my power to tell everyone in this town about the terrible ethics and practices of this dog funeral home they mask as an animal hospital. Shame on you Edwardsville Pet Hospital!

My dog is being treated for cancer at the University of Missouri in Columbia. They gave me a prescription for Hills Science Diet food which is only sold through veterinarians. My local veterinarian is Hawthorne Animal Hospital which is wonderful except that they dont sell the Hills Foods. I needed a source in Edwardsville where I live to get the food so I went 2 Edwardsville pet hospital with my prescription to see if I could buy some. Much to my disappointment I was told that they would only sell me the food if my dog was examined by them. Well I was floored that they cared more about making a buck then getting a dog the food they need to survive during cancer treatment. The receptionist tried to tell me it was the law that they had to see the dog before selling the prescription food even though I had a prescription from the oncologist. Fortunately I found out PetSmart also sells the food and had no problem taking the prescription from another vet. If I could give negative stars to this place I would!
