For urgent care, I want patients to be aware that they will be double-billed for services at Anderson Express Care. Unlike standard urgent care clinics that charge base fees of roughly $70 for a clinical visit with no lab costs or procedures, Anderson apparently charges patients $200 dollars for use of the facility. Patients will be charged separately by the doctor, and for a clinical visit with no procedures, the base fee is apparently $150. On vacation from Colorado this summer, my daughter developed an ear infection and we were faced with the issue of finding a doctor. Normally, for ear infections there is little that can be done. However, we had been out in rural Wisconsin, where the kids were playing in the woods which are known for ticks, and we were a little worried that something had crawled in her ear. All we wanted was a nurse or doctor to take a look, so we visited the Urgent Care Clinic of Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. After a quick look from a physicians assistant (who never identified himself as such), followed by an even quicker look from the doctor, our fears of a tick were relieved, and we left. The ear cleared up in a couple days. A couple weeks ago we received a bill from the hospital for $200, which is not covered by our insurance. We negotiated that down to $144, though we were still livid, having expected it to be half that. However, the situation got worse when we received an additional bill for another $150 from the doctor who is apparently represented by Midwest Emergency Management, Inc. Needless to say, we are completely baffled by this billing process and amount, and our negative opinion of health care continues to grow. We will never visit Anderson Hospital Express Care again, and for minor clinical matters I strongly recommend no one else does either.

We went on a Sunday afternoon. Our baby was very constipated and crying in a lot of pain and was bleeding from it. We were in from out of town and didnt have our insurance card on us, but told them what plan we had and they said that was fine and they could process it later so we could get our son seen. The doctor was extremely rude, treated us like we were stupid young parents, glanced in our babies diaper and said the blood was normal and there was nothing he could do about it and we should just give him water and take him home to wait it out, handed us a paper about constipation and then sent us on our way. The whole "exam" took less than two minutes. Later we received two bills from that visit, one was for our co-pay for visiting the urgent care facility (which insurance covered), and the other was over $500 for the two minute "exam" from this doctor who apparently did not accept our insurance. Expensive lesson to learn that yes, the facility can bill us separately from the doctors that they have working inside the facility, who do not have to accept the same insurance as the facility. Also blows my mind that we had to spend most of our savings for someone to hand us an information sheet that we could have printed off the Internet ourselves. I am not the type to make complaints, but I would never take my child to this facility again and I will think twice before ever visiting another urgent care.

Made appointment w/o issue and was seen in a timely manner. Saw the doctor and got an antibiotic Rx. I thought everything went well, but then 2-3 months later when I received an invoice from my health insurance I realized that the receptionist lied to me and said they accept my health insurance. Well it turns out that the doctors charge separately (which I guess is common) from the facility, and the doctors network doesnt accept any of the major Health Insurance Providers (BCBS, Land of Lincoln, etc.). So now Im stuck with a $800 dollar bill for a sinus infection from the Doctor Provider. So make sure before you go that you contact your Health Insurance Company and ask them if UPTOWN EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS is in your network. The receptionist DOES NOT KNOW so even if she/he says they take your health insurance do not believe them. Check on your own otherwise you will owe $800 for literally 2 minutes of doctor-patient time. Gotta love our Healthcare industry!

Terrible, the doctors are private contractors who bill seperately from the express care clinic. The receptionist said they do not have the ability to check if your insurance will cover the doctors charges. What a waste of time. Go somewhere else or dont be surprised when you receive a separate bill from the doctor that is not covered. I asked them how often this happens and they said all the time. Isnt it nice knowing that they have problems they are aware of but choose to ignore.

NEVER use this facility. Same as all the other reviews about billing. My wife went in with ear pain and they had to have it rinsed. Took a total of 5 min once the Dr entered the room - all they did was rinse with warm water. Since they used a squeeze bottle and had to enter her ear canal, it was considered outpatient surgery. Total bill was over $1200 of which we had to pay $800 out of pocket. No wonder there is a healthcare crisis in this country.

Would highly recommend going anywhere else for a prompt care. Waited a long time. They bill twice, once for the facility and once for the doctor. Only saw the doctor for 4 minutes total. Charged 3.5 times the normal rate of a prompt care. Very disappointed. Would rather stay sick than go back here.

The staff at this facility is always sooo good with their patients that are coming in. The secretary they have now is the sweetest lady. The RN in triage has always been the best with caring. I would highly recommend this facility when your not feeling good!

I had difficulty breathing and so I went to Anderson express care. I was there less than 2 hrs and received a 1400.00 dollar bill and they had no treatment for my situation so they werent able to help, yet I owe 1400 dollars.

My husband went there for a cut on his hand. They said they couldnt help and sent us to Barnes ER. We get a bill for $330 for this and now i guess we can expect a bill from the doctor too. Sigh. What a waste.

Take my daughter here when in an emergency, and I was very pleased with the service and doctors.
