Im so torn between giving 5 stars for how absolutely amazing Melissa, Dr. Schening, & Jessica are as pediatricians or giving 1 or 2 stars for how aggravating the over-the-phone service is. Jan, bless her sweet heart, never seems to have confident answers for barely anything. She seems like a very sweet person but I never feel confident in her wish-washy answers to literally any problem my daughter has had. Besides that, I am immediately put on hold every time I call the pediatricians office for at least 5 minutes, usually 10 or more. Last time I hung up after a 20 minute wait. I get "Hi, Next generation pediatrics, can you hold please?" *click....music begins. Who has time to hold a sick/crying/in pain infant in one arm and a phone in the other for 20 minutes for the possibility of receiving somewhat confident answers to my urgent questions? Not this momma :( Im going with 3 stars. Im a pretty forgiving person which is probably why I have put up with this kind of service for over a year but Im on the brink of leaving to find another office. I never leave negative reviews for anyone! It hurts me to say negative things about businesses or people but since this is regarding a business that works with parents and children, I feel its my duty to share. Like I said, most of the actual doctors and nurses that care for your child in-person are phenomenal! Ive only had a negative experience with one doctor that treated my daughter for a 14 day virus. I wont go into TOO much detail but I basically ended up having an anxiety attack by the time I left and was told to drive to the ER because my baby was "starving" (which she proceeded to tell seemingly every nurse in the office after closing the door to our room. She also scolded me for not knowing I was supposed to be feeding my baby rice cereal and probiotic (um, new mom here! Sorry...I assumed she was getting probiotic through my breastmilk and iron through the baby food I was feeding her)I felt so condemned and awful! I went to the ER and had to hold my 10 month old down for blood tests and anal temps etc while she screamed. It was awful, only to find out her levels were fine and she just needed a little pedialyte and water. Bad experience. I dont blame the front desk girls either...you can only manage so many phone calls and tasks at one time. If I leave it will be because of the 1. Inconsistencies amongst some of the doctors. The one doctor seemed to say and recommend things that contradicted Dr. Schening. Jan seems as though she has to ask someone else or "look it up first and get back to you" and when I repeat back her advice to ask her to verify she says "umm...well, I would assume so" or something similar. Sweet woman, though! 2. Time...Ive waited 2 days and then chose to call back for answers to urgent questions regarding the stomach virus after relaying my story and symptoms to a. The front desk girl, b. Jan and eventually c. Dr. schening who was able to tell me I needed to come in. Also, I dont know how much time other worried mothers have to wait for 10-20 minutes for a nurse to answer their questions about their immediate situation, but I know it gives me a lot of anxiety during that wait. When my 5 month old daughter is overheating and gagging on her own vomit while Im out in public, I need answers And tips NOW not in twenty minutes. Next time, Ill know to call an ambulance but even if Someone Im the office could have at least spoken with me long enough to tell me that, that wouldve been great. I am SO sorry to be leaving this review. I really am. But I have brought my concerns to Next gen more than once and nothing has changed. Melissa & Jessica, youre amazing. Absolutely wonderful and have calmed my anxieties and made me feel like a good mom when Ive left. YOU are the reasons I have stuck around. I just need to say that these are GOOD people, but the business as a whole, is lacking.

Anyone considering treatment here should know about this: I have never left a review for a business before, because I usually dont have time for this sort of thing. But what we have experienced at Next Generation has me deeply saddened at best, and incensed, at worst. We came to Dr. Schening 4 years ago, because of her reputation for not pushing medication or vaccinations. We were grateful to have found her for that for our 4 little girls. Any parent knows its not easy finding a doctor you trust. Or now, trusted... After 4 years of seeing our daughters, Dr. Schening sent us a letter (that she didnt even bother to sign) stating that she would no longer see our girls for treatment. No reason was given. We were just about to schedule our 3-yr checkup for our twin girls. I called the office manager, Sherry, about it, and she said it was because we didnt schedule our well visits as frequently as we should have! What?! NEVER, in any communication from their office, did I receive a notice or a letter that stated that if I didnt schedule an appointment with them, they would refuse to see my daughters ever again. Even if they had notified me about it, wouldnt that seem like a strange policy?? Im a business owner myself. You dont treat loyal customers like this. In that first conversation, I asked Sherry to talk with Dr. Schening about it. She said she would and get back to me. Never did. I had to call back 4-5 times. Left messages. No response. Finally got through. She said she would call me that next Monday. Never did. Finally now, 6-7 weeks later, I finally called back again. She had to look up things in her notes. It sounded like she didnt even remember our situation. She is very kind, but she takes no responsibility for any poor customer service, by simply claiming that she is just the messenger. Maybe she has her hands tied and is not able to influence policy decisions. But if thats the case, that tells you something about the way things are run in their office. What is ironic is that Sherry told me they were taking new patients these days. What?!! So, you would take new patients but you wont take my children, who have been with you for years now!? Frankly, none of the reasons that Sherry has given me for this decision add up. I think there is something else going on that they arent telling us. Or maybe they simply are too overloaded with customers and cant keep up. Good for them. Bad for us. And bad for you, if you go.

Dr. Schening is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable and offers a variety of treatment options, which most often do not include over-the counter medication. Dont get me wrong, she has written my children prescriptions before. However, she takes the time to treat the root of the problem, which for us has been small changes in diet or natural supplements.

Worst place ever we called because my son had thrush and they told us they were to busy to squeeze us in that we can call back tomorrow and MAYBE they will be able to see us my son is only 4mo old and would not stop screaming in pain so we call another Dr and we got In right away.. That was the icing on the cake
