Joanna Tam bends over backwards to serve her patients well. She has a great bedside (or chairside?) manner. Her practice has a very homey feel and she focuses a lot of attention on you. If you cant complete the exam for any reason (for instance, if you cant have your eyes dialated that day, or if youre rushed for time during your lunch hour), she will allow you to come back to finish the exam at a later date, without charging you a second time. There were issues with our insurance company reimbursing the glasses we wanted to purchase, and while the issue did not get resolved in the end, she really bent over backwards to try to get our glasses for us. In the end, she was really helpful to the other eyeglass retailer that we ended up using, providing both our prescription and the pupillary distance to them very willingly. Other optometrists that weve used have put up a fight in providing pupillary distance measurements in order to keep patients from getting glasses from other businesses-- Joanna Tam doesnt do this. She is a professional, courteous optometrist and I will definitely go back to her for my vision exam every year!

Dr. Tam is thorough, thoughtful and professional! Her shop in South Broad Ripple is so nice and inviting. She can help with eye exams, frames and lenses. I went to her with a problem I had with a lens prescription I was given by a different doctor/retailer, and Dr. Tam was knowledgeable, caring and patient as she helped me to get the correct prescription.
