My daughter had a 4:45 MRI appt. The day before they called to cancelled after 7pm, stating that they hadnt received the auth. number from the doctor, therefore couldnt keep my appt. The office who hadnt sent the number had already been closed so i wouldnt be able to get the number till the day of my appt. Not wanting to miss my appt, i called Hurley back to ask what Id do if i didnt have insurance. She reluctantly told me Id only have to sign a waver, not need the auth number and could keep the appt. I said Id like to do that, knowing Id get the auth number before my appt. She was frustrated and said shed have to notate that so it didnt come back on her end to get in trouble. She confirmed to be here at 445 for paperwork with my insurance card. Getting the auth number, i arrived to check in at 445. I then witnessed everyone before me go back, then everyone who came after us go back. I asked if there was paper work or something i could be doing and the woman who checked us in said if i do it will be when we go back. After an hour, i received a voicemail stating my insurance authorization was only good for that day and i needed to be here. I then told the woman who checked us in that i have a message theyre waiting on us. She made a call and toled me it was another 20 minutes. I called back Jennifer who left the message and explained Id been waiting over an hour I the waiting room and told there was another 20 minutes. She told me shed come get me and then explained "theyre not doing their job." I had to bring my younger 2 children because my husband wasnt going to home in time and thought with a 445 appt Id be out in time for dinner. Its now 630 and she STILL hasnt gone back for her MRU and my younger 2 are so over being here and very hungry. Its been a terrible experience to watch a dozen people go back and still be waiting almost 2 hours later with not a singled person to be seen. Update: before leaving Friday we were told due to the holiday on Monday, a doctor wouldnt see it till Tuesday. Today is Wednesday and i gagging heard from anyone. I called the doctor and they havent received it yet. So i called Hurley and left a message. When originally making my appt. I left 2 messages before calling a 3rd time when i made an appt. speaking with a person (i wasnt called back). Because of this i just called a second time and spoke with someone who cut me of cause she "already listened to the message." That irritates me because if you can answer my call and talk to me and already listen to my messages, why couldnt you have just responded. Regardless, apparently theres no chance Id get a call because apparently, theres a 5 day wait for a specific person theyre waiting to look at it before sending to this doctor. I explained that wasnt what i was told and she responded we dont typically tell people whose looking at it. I reiterated, it was being told Tuesday and never being told 5 days. From making my appt, cancelling the appointment, blaming not receiving the fax on a "fax glitch that occurs", being forgotten for hours alone in a waiting room, begging told wait till Tuesday then they werent even in Tuesday and its supposed to be 5 business days, this was the most unprofessional experience beginning to end i think Ive ever experienced. I will recommend no one ever go there (for an MRI at least)!

I have learned to be an advocate for our baby, do research, and ask questions of the Doctors, and get other opinions before going along with an early inducement. If it were not for stepping back and seeing a bigger picture we may have been pressured into inducing labor too early. Our baby was born 10 days ago. After waiting to find out the babys gender, we are happy to say "Its a Girl"! Her name is Helena, and her middle name is Sage. Her nickname is "Ellie". We are greatly appreciative for the many prayers that went out over the last few weeks. She was born of a natural birth. After 22 hours of labor, and much stress, after she was born we discovered the reason the doctors (including Dr. Khedr) at Hurley wanted to induce (with high potential for c-section) two weeks early was Not legitimate. Instead, she was born at 6lbs and 3.8 ounces at Mott Hospital in Ann Arbor. Because we would not induce due to their illogical reasons, we were told the day before our babys due date, that we could no longer work with the Midwives at Hurley because of the hospital lawyers advice. We expressed that our baby is more important than Hurleys liabilities. The stress from Hurleys malpractice was tremendous, and no woman should ever be manipulated into inducing labor based on illogical reasons, and poor hospital protocol to begin with. Hurley seems to lack respect and care for women who are vulnerable during pregnancy, and pressured my wife and I into going along with a potential life threatening situation for her and our baby. By wanting to induce too early without giving proper reason and common sense, we were forced to disagree with the Doctors, which was extremely hard to do. However, since we were willing to walk away from a bad situation, we moved on to get different opinions. We spent many hours having discussions with many Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Doulas, and other moms! We are incredibly grateful we did not induce too early for the wrong reasons. Instead, the pregnancy went full term at 40 weeks and several days! In addition to going full term, no dangerous inducement drugs, and no narcotic pain drugs were used. Instead, homeopathic medicine, therapeutic grade oils, and other natural methods were used to induce labor and manage labor pain! We are now settled in at home as a family, and Helena is a happy baby.

Hurley hospital is overcrowded, under staffed, and apathetic to their clients. I took 3 students to the emergency room and it was so crowded we couldnt be seen for about 2 hours. My students needed an Arabic speaker so the intelligent nurses sent an Urdu speaking man from Pakistan and a Turkish speaking man from Turkey. Really? On a personal note I went there once for family practice physical, I was early for my appointment but had to wait over 2 hours to be seen, I saw my doctor for 10 minutes then I had to wait another 2 hours just to check out! This cost me an entire day of work since they only take clients before 5pm and are unavailable Tuesday/Thursday afternoon. She wrote me a few prescriptiosn (coincidentally over-the-counter cough medicine and birth control) but wouldnt give me a few other necessary prescriptions (for weight control or mental health) unless I saw her a second time, and since she was a med student and had rotations on Fridays, she couldnt see me for another 3 months! After one month had gone by, she CHANGED her rotations from Fridays to Wednesdays, which I cant do because I TEACH CLASSES M-Th. So I had to change my doctor to one that CAN see me Fridays. In order to do this I have to get that med students referral to see another doctor. Ive been calling Hurley for 3 days, on Monday she wouldnt answer so the operators said try again Wednesday (today). For 2 hours I have called, they continuously transfered me, they had me page Dr. Ahmad, then sent me BACK TO THE BEGINNING. Im tired of wasting 2 hours a day being put on hold! This is reduculous and its not even a nice hospital! If your time is precious to you FIND ANOTHER HOSPITAL.
