I have been a patient of Dr. Stolze for 3 years. I spent at least 5000 for services. However I have finally decided that even though I like the doctor I cannot put up with the rudeness of the staff anymore. Everytime I wanted a cleaning I had to wait at least three months and have to deal with a receptionist with an attitude. So far every dental office I have used made sure that they made an appointment for the next cleaning the moment I left one. Aparently the receptionist does not think that this is something they need to do as a dental service provider. I tried to get my regular 6 month cleaning, which aparently is very difficult to do for them. I personally dont think it is the job of a receptionist to make judgments whether a cleaning is necessary or not, especially when the patient pays for one. The hygenists (I tried two) are not customer service oriented either. They both did their work without any concern for the comfort level of the patient; I was not asked even once if I was ok even when it was obvious I was not very comfortable. The receptionist also messed up my appointment time and was very unapologetic about it; even worse, she was being confruntational like I was the one who got it wrong. In the end I cannot support a business that does not think they have an obligation to their patients and treat people like it is not a big deal, and they can always get other patients. I dont think the staff will change any time soon; it has been the same for the past three years since both the father and the daughter are using them. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere unless you are ok with receiving an extremely unprofessional and rude treatment. Bad customer service is their mantra!

I cannot rate Dr. Dan and Dr. Sonya and their staff high enough - I have never had a dentist explain the rational behind brushing and flossing techniques in a way that was easy to understand; most dentists I have seen just assume you know what you are supposed to do and push you out the door. In my first visit with Dr. Sonya I learned more about why you are supposed to brush a certain way, and what flossing is actually supposed to accomplish, then I learned in my previous 30 years of dentist visits. I also appreciate the fact that we get email updates and reminders of when we are scheduled for appointments, and its great to be able to change/update appointments in whatever way is easiest for us. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and helpful, and always seem to be in a good mood. Finally, knowing that we are dealing with a dentist office that takes the time to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and techniques in their field, and takes their responsibility very seriously (a typical quote from Dr. Dan: "why would I do something halfway when I could do it right?"), gives me complete peace of mind for my childrens dental care, not to mention my wife and my own. In fact, we schedule our dentist visits around trips to visit friends and family in central Iowa, as we live several hours away, but have not found a dentists office any closer that makes us feel as comfortable as the Stoltzes. Ames is lucky to have a dentist office as cutting edge and concerned about its patients as Stoltze & Stoltze.

Our family loves Stoltze Family Dentistry! Our family of 5 all appreciate their high level of quality customer service. Dr. Stoltze Newstrom is amazing with my boys (7 and 9). She explains everything that she is doing, calms all of their nerves, and they both actually get excited when they know they are going to the dentist. I have been taking them there since their first check up, and she done a great job educating all of us along the way. As an adult her office technology is not only update, but I seems to be leading edge to give us the best preventative care possible. I have gone going to the Stoltze for 11 years, they have filled cavities, cleaned teeth, fixed a broken tooth emergency, crowns, and more. Liz her dental hygienist is AMAZING! We will continue going them to receive their high level of caring quality care.

My family has been going to Dr. Dan Stoltze since I was a little girl. (Im 47 now.) For a few years now, his daughter Sonja is a dentist in his office as well. I love going there because everyone knows me and it has a homey feeling! Everyone is so nice and they give excellent care to my teeth. I get the same dental hygienist, Liz, every time as well which I appreciate as she knows me and knows my teeth. Laurie, one of the receptionist, has been there since I started going. She is wonderful and always helpful with appointments, payments, etc. When I lived in Florida for 17 years, I couldnt find a dentist I liked so when I came home to visit, Id schedule my appointments then! There is no other place Id rather go! Stoltze & Stoltze Family Dentistry is the BEST!

My family has been going to Sonya and her team since she started her practice with her father. I have found Sonya and her team to be friendly and caring to our needs. The staff is knowledgable and experienced. They have accommodated my sons schedule with school. After my husbands first visit with Sonya, he came home very happy saying the hygienist was gentile with him and has not experienced anything different since. Sonya and her team have placed 2 veneers and 2 caps on my teeth to improve my smile. I am very happy with the outcome. This dental family has state of the art equipment. They answer any questions that I may have. I would recommend Sonya and her team to anyone.

To start off this review I would like to disclose that I, myself, am a general dentist. I drove to Ames from my home near Cedar Rapids so that Dr Sonya could fix a tooth of mine. I knew I wanted her to be the one to fix it for me because of two important factors: 1) Dr Sonya and her father, the senior Dr Stoltze, have invested in excellent technology and training in order to deliver the best dental care possible. 2) Dr Sonya is a very conscientious and kind person and I knew she would take good care of me, and I was right. The whole experience was just great and I would highly recommend her office to anyone in the area!

Dr. Stoltze Newstrom is cheerful, gentle, and very thorough. Her digital xrays are great -- I loved that she could pull my xrays up on the computer monitor and show me areas of concern. I really appreciated her genuine concern for the health of my teeth.

Sonya has been our dentist since we moved here six years ago and she is WONDERFUL!!!! Her hygienist Liz is AWESOME --- really Ive never felt more comfortable in a dentist chair. Everyone in the office is helpful and friendly, I highly recommend!!
