Today I had my first experience at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital. I will never go back. Ever. If I suffered a gunshot would outside of the hospital and had no vehicle I would hitch a ride to ANY other hospital. I went in with a very painful case of pancreatitis. Ive had pancreatitis several times before, so I knew what was wrong before I even got there. It is extremely painful. Read the symptoms. Treatment for this illness consist of being taken off of all solid foods, and only consuming small amounts of water and other clear liquids, provided your enzymes are low enough to handle even that light diet. Treatment also consists of pain management. I am not a drug user. I do not drink alcohol. Ever. Yet I was treated as if I came in just to seek out narcotic pain medicine. I was given one small dose of Dilaudid (which did help blunt the pain a little) and that was it. They ASKED me if I wanted to be admitted (what kind of medical facility gives you an option when you clearly need medical attention) in which case I told them no. Upon leaving, the PA, who clearly had no idea what she was prescribing, wrote me a prescription for 12 5mg Norcos. I was prescribed a better painkiller when I had my bottom wisdom teeth pulled. On top of that, I found out afterward that Norcos would only exacerbate an inflamed pancreas. Seriously? To say I was astounded at the complete and total incompetency of this facility is a wild understatement. I will however, say there was one super sweet nurse by the name of Cindy who seemed to know what she was doing, but unfortunately her shift ended right after I got there. Maybe I had a bad experience because it was the day before Independence Day. Maybe it was because everyone there didnt want to be working. Maybe the hospital does get a lot of drug seekers. But I am a very clean cut, fit, 28 year old white man who works full time and has his life together. You would think they could tell the difference. I arrived in pain, I left in more pain, and to add to that pain, I left with a very large bill in hand. I could have handled the bill of an ER visit had I gotten some sort of treatment. But the way I see it, I spent a couple grand to find out the level of my lipase enzyme. I will forever wonder the cost of that lab work, as the hospital probably made an insane amount of profit for my "treatment." In any case, I feel I should have been treated better, and I hope if the circumstances ever arrive that I have to go back to this hospital, things go a little more smoothly.

Do not go to this ER. They wanted to put my 11 week old baby on IV antibiotics and transfer her to another hospital for an overnight stay just because she had a fever. While at this ER my husband told the doctor she was crazy (we could hear her on the phone arguing with the other hospital - obviously they thought she was crazy too) and they kicked him out and called the police. Once we arrived at the other (normal) hospital, the pediatrician said she just had an ear infection and could go home. The Galichia doctor wanted to start IV antibiotics but all they did was give her a shot. Why couldnt they just do that and send us home? The pediatrician said that would take care of it. This ER must be bored because they are playing with peoples emotions and starting unnecessary drama.

We had the absolute BEST care from Emergency Doctors and staff to the Hospital Doctors and staff. Everyone was excellent. Could not ask for better from the second we arrived to the second we left. They were kind, informative, caring, and pleasant individuals. I even felt ok in leaving my husband there at night with the firm belief that he was going to totally be taken care of. Thank you all especially Rachel and Dr DeBolt, CT Technician in ER, Micah, Bryan, Kaylee, Karaniza, Denise, Dr. Bowles and cath lab group and others that we dont remember their names. Thank you cleaning crew the hospital is very clean and smells good too. They even threw in a Santa Claus walking the halls and 2nd graders playing bells for Christmas joy. WOW! Thanks again.

OMG I love these people. I had hurt my back on the job. I was sent by the insurance company to a Clinic on Maize Rd, run by a large city hospital. Doctor told me on my visits to go home and get lots of bed rest. My right leg began to swell. Doctor told me to continue with my bed rest. My leg continued to swell. This went on a few weeks. Finally, Dr. Smith at Galichia, took a look at it. Well a few hours later, I was in surgery having a filter placed in my chest. I had blood clots up and down the leg. Would not have taken much for one to break loose and kill me. This hospital and doctor, saved my life!! I am so grateful to the staff who treated me as if I was family. Thanks again GHH! You guys are great!

I had the best doctors and the nurses, Dr. Bowles and staff were top notch top gun of physicians, he has been my doctor every time anything serious was going on and have survived and am growing stronger every day. I wanted to give a name to the nurses behind the in the trenches that get no praise openly, down the Jerrold, Jessica, Rachael, Bobbi, Morgan, Trena, and also the ER physicians Dr. Famon and Dr. Bledsoe. I thank all these folks from the bottom of my heart.

We were out of town-ers at an over night gymnastics event. Our son needed to go to the ER for an ankle injury in the wee hours of the morning. From the moment we walked thought the door the staff was amazing and friendly! There was no wait time, nurse was with us promptly, as well as the doctor, x-ray came to the room and the clerk handled all the paper work bedside. I am not sure I can praise them high enough for the professionalism and bedside manner.
