I usually dont leave reviews , but Im going to today. I took my 5 year old daughter to the ER at 3am this morning with a 103.6 fever and tummy pain. I carried my little one because she couldnt walk which the 2 nurses or whatever their called at the registration desk saw me walk in did not even say anything to me. I waited until for a Little bit and I went to the desk and ask the guy their if I can get some help with my little one because she had a high fever. The guy with a " oh I dont feel like being here look on his face" told me to come to the other side I was trying to give him my childs info , but he wanted her near i guess to put the bracelet so, I went to the waiting room next to the registration desk were she was laying down and carried her to the chair. They brought on inside where her temp was taken and he said " well she doesnt have 103.6 fever" Im like of course not now I gave her medicine before getting here , but she did have a high fever and she has been getting weird fevers on and off like this last week and now and its starve 1 min she has it and then all day she is fine and then the next day or few days she gets them again. He left and the other girl the the desk came in not sure why he just didnt finish doing what he needed to do. They sent me back to the waiting room to wait until a bed was available @30 min past and all the other people that got their after me were being called. I went to the desk were both of the. Were chilaxing and talking with no care in the world and asked them if they knew when my child was going to be called because I noticed other patients were getting called before me and I was their first. THEY INFORMED ME THEY WERE CALLING PEOPLE IN WITH MORE SECERE SYMPTOMS!! OKAY, SO HAVING A 5 year old crying and moaning because they have tummy pains and with weird fevers is not important?! They new this because I had explained this to the guy. The funny thing is that the other patients were white teen and black older man and they were walking just fine and they had beds for them and my Latino daughter was uncomfortable. YES, I HAVE TO QUESTION THIS. I started venting with a friend over the phone not even 2 min later they called us in, interesting. We got into our room and the interesting thing was the nurse came I and said" oh this room is being used , ok" I said yes were here . So the registration guy didnt even tell the nurses they had a patient in that room?? The doctor was really nice and the nurse they even came in a gave my kid a Barbie spy bag and little toys. Maybe they knew I was mad or they just wanted to be nice not sure, but it made my little one smile . We were their for hours which was fine they did tests. 7 am came and another dr and a new nurse came and we were released because everything was fine the test came out fine, The other nurse was so quick to give me the papers to sign and said " here are your release papers so you can be on your way" no sympathy towards my kid at all or have a good day, nothing from her or the new dr for that shift. We walk out like we did so,etching wrong. I made an apt with my kids dr and they did blood work so waiting on that also, out dr said the hospital had done other test and waiting for results which is interesting because THEY NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE OTHER TESTS!! Very dissapointed for sure. I have been their before with my kid and never felt so upset ever. The first dr and nurse we had I would give them a 5 but the other dr and nurse for the 7am shift a 0.

My experience here was not good. Im 24 weeks pregnant and came in with severe pain on my left side. When I got in, they sent me to labor and delivery (understandable), where I waited while they monitored the baby. I provided my ID and insurance card, name, address and SS card # where the nurse entered it into a computer. Baby was fine, thankfully. They sent me to the normal emergency room where I then provided the same information and got my hospital bracelet. They put me in a room, and I ended up vomiting due to the pain I was in. The nurse was very sweet (the only person who seemed to have some compassion), and gave me a very low dose of morphine as she could see how much pain I was in. As Im laying there a THIRD person (I believe her name is Debra) comes in to ask yet again my name, address, DOB, ss #, ID & insurance. My coworker who was nice enough to come with me mentioned that this would be the third time we are providing this info. She mad a snarky comment suggesting that we were lying. WHAT?! In comes the "DR" who suggested we do an ultrasound of my kidneys to check for stones, and for the ovaries since I mentioned a cyst Ive had since the beginning of my pregnancy. I got the ultrasounds done and waited in pain as the morphine wore off very quickly. When he came in, he made a comment stating "cysts dont hurt this bad"..okay? did he think I came to the hospital to pay a co-pay for SLIGHT pain?? He came back once the results were in and told me the cyst on the left ovary was the size of a quarter at about 5.3mm. Mentioned that its strange that it had not gone away at this point in pregnancy but would not operate. Sent me home. When I got home, I realized the report states "The majority of the ovary is replaced by a unilocular cyst measuring 53 x 46 x 42mm" which would make it the size of a small orange NOT a quarter and 53mm is a huge difference compared to 5.3mm. How does a doctor not read results properly??? He also failed to mention that my blood work came back abnormal. This drs name is Karl Vos. He had zero compassion, failed to read my results properly, and made comments to suggest that my pain wasnt as bad as I said it was. If that doesnt make for a terrible doctor, I dont know what does. From the registration to the dr, this place runs their patients through like an assembly line. Never again.

Wish I could leave no stars. Im glad Elmhurst is impressed with the pretty, fancy new facility but the rest of us want quality healthcare more than a sparkling fountain. Its a saga with them at this point, but let me hit the highlights. A doctor walked out and shut the door while I was speaking to him during a visit, his entire manner implying Im a liar. That was awesome, since he had, in fact, not mentioned the ruptured ovarian cyst that was causing the pain. (How the hell can you miss that when its on a scan in front of you?!) More recently had a different doctor try to prescribe me a medication over the phone telling me not to come in for a scheduled appointment and discuss it - ironically a few days after an appointment specifically to discuss medications in which it was not talked about. But the real high point was one of my ER visits. My doctor (not an Elmhurst doctor) had referred me to immediately go to the ER, and thankfully I anticipated problems and asked for an actual, physical referral. Thats still not enough for some ER nurses. While she didnt call me a liar to my face, she made it extremely clear she thought so, and made many snide and insulting comments "you just need to deal with the pain" and snapping "you need to stop coming here". The best part is that I had begged the doctor to send me to a specialist, and when I got to the ER I told them I needed to see a gyno, not be in the ER. But clearly, I was there for drugs and worthy to be treated as a lying leech. So to recap, Elmhurst will treat you like a liar, not diagnose you, and not treat your symptoms. Oh and good luck with the records dept, days of trying from both the other office and myself and we still dont know where my records are! You may want to plan to pick up any records you need in person just to be safe. And make sure to expect to be double billed - I still have an office visit from months ago showing as unpaid, after I had my insurance call over there! Im not sure Elmhurst actually understands what healing actually means. In response to your reply - Im not going to subject myself to the delights of your phone menu or days of phone tag without results. I think Ive done the best I can by warning patients to go elsewhere
