My first visit with this eye care provider was horrible. A few of the staff were rude and not helpful with helping me get an understanding on why my insurance didnt cover my visit. The nurse rushed me to hurry off the phone with my insurance company because they were closing in 30 minutes, however I had waited in the reception area for 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. After I talked to my insurance company, I decided to go ahead and pay for the eye exam out of pocket and purchase glasses. The eye exam was $85 and I purchased eye glasses. My visit totaled to approximately $400. I was also interested in contact lenses, but the exam for contacts were an additional $60 plus I would have to purchase the contact lenses. I have worn contact lenses for several years. The eye doctor Eric N. Thai acknowledged that my vision had not changed. I informed him that I wanted to purchase contacts from 1800contacts and he discouraged me from doing so, saying that he could could order my contacts and match the third partys price. However, I decided to order my contacts at a later date. The next week I contacted the eye care provider to receive my eye exam prescription so that I could purchase contacts from 1800contacts. 1800contacts told me I would only need my prescription from my eye exam. Premier Eyecare refused to write a prescription for my contacts stating that I would have to pay them an additional $60 for a "contact fitting", where they only put testers in the eye and then they would write a prescription. There would not be any measurement to my eyeballs or anything significant. When I went in person to ask for the prescription. Dr. Thai got aggressive saying he will not write my prescription without me paying for a contact fitting. I then asked him, had I did the $60 contact examination instead of the eye examination, would I have been able to buy glasses and contacts. He said yes. However, since I only purchased the $85 eye exam, I could only get glasses. My issue with this business is that I informed them I was interested in both contacts and glasses. They were not willing to inform me that I could have just did the contact exam, and I could have purchased both glasses and contacts. The eye doctor and his staff informed me that the contact exam would be an additional $60 (not including contact lenses) to the $400 I paid for eyeglasses and a regular eye exam. A good and honest business would be forthcoming with informing patients who are interested in both eyeglasses and contact lenses that they could save $15 if they get the contact exam, which would work for glasses as well. Instead, this business wanted to gyp patients out of money by withholding this information. It would not have been difficult to write my eye prescription. But since they were aware that I wanted contacts from a third party seller, they refused to cooperate with writing my prescription because they were aware that I needed it for contact lenses. So after spending $400 with this eye care provider, they refused to help a loyal customer because they were overcome by greed.

I walked into the office of Premier Eye Care & Optical, and I was met with hostile aggression. I have never experienced being verbally and emotionally attacked by a staff member. She identified herself as (Dr. Eric Thais wife), in front of other patients, staff members, which included Dr. Eric Thai. She was belligerent and belittling in her attempt to communicate. I was only revisiting this location to secure requested information from my recent eye exam/frame fitting on (March 29, 2014) Instead, I was spoken to so disrespectfully. If that wasnt enough, she adamantly refused to give me all of my results. I know my insurance covered the entire visit, therefore; I vehemently question why I am only privy to a portion of my results? I was mishandled, disrespected, and treated with discrimination. No thought was given or exercised as it pertained to my rights as their customer of the last five years. The tone of voice used to address me was intentionally demeaning, furthermore; it was intended to incite an interaction that surely would have ended in an altercation. However, I had no desire to lower myself to her standard. Therefore, if you care less as to the overall treatment youd receive at the hands of these unprofessional professionals, turn a blind eye and prepare to be blindsided.

I went to this doctor twice after having moved from Slidell. The first time, they low balled my estimate and I left in tears after paying 3x what they said I would (I was unemployed at the time and didnt have insurance and needed an updated prescription to buy contacts). The second time they kept me waiting in the lounge for 1.5 hours and when I asked if I would be seen next, they got very aggressive and told me I needed to wait to wait my turn "like an adult". Other than a guy in another room, I was the only one there. Then they dilated my eyes--something I would have liked to have been notified of previously. I was on my lunch break and had to wait an additional hour before I could drive home (and even then, it was a little iffy). I asked to take my prescription with me to order from an online site and they lectured me about how that is not policy. I mentioned that my previous optometrist never had a problem with it and that I would investigate further about their ability to withhold my prescription and they gave it to me begrudgingly. Will never go back again. Im ashamed I went back a second time.

As a person who was once legally blind, my vision is very precious to me. That is why I appreciate Dr. Thai and his staff. I always get straight answers and excellent care and service when I visit Dr. Thai. My contact lenses are very hard to fit, and I appreciate that Dr. Thai always takes the care to ensure that the fit is perfect. Since I have had glasses and corrective lenses for 52 years, I think of myself as something of an expert. Dr. Thai is always willing to listen to my thoughts and questions, and I appreciate walking out of his office with clear vision and a comfortable fit. I would and do recommend Dr. Thai to anyone who has any vision or health issues with their eyes. From making the appointment, to fitting your glasses or lenses, Premier Eyecare and Optical gives personal attention to every step of the process.

Never come to this place again . Unprofessional store, staffs were bad, bad service ever . When you bought sunglasse from them , when you comeback ask them to fix that for you, they kind dont want to fix it. They seem like you bought longtime ago and they dont want to fix that for you. They are unprofessional to do that. I came to another store to fix the sunglasses I bought from premier eyecare and optical , that store they r so nice, they fix that for me and they didnt charge me anything . The premier eyecare and optical need to learn from them.

Pleasant doctor and very nice staff. After only dealing with Americas Best for the past ten years, I decided to give a local doctor a shot. I just needed a current prescription to order some safety glasses online. They had no problems just checking my eyes and letting me know my prescription. They didnt try to sell me more than what I wanted. I like that.
