A month ago I called the EMEV to ask a few questions about my cat who was hobbling. The woman on the phone was so disrespectful and abrupt that I hung the phone up. Later that night I had to call back because my cat was declining, and she startled me so much that I felt I had no choice but to bring him in. I got there around 9pm, and sat there until almost 2am, for them to run every test in the book, take xrays, charge me $600 and then MISdiagnose him with "trauma" from possibly roughhousing with my dog. last weekend I went for a re-check with OUR vet and I was blown away to find that he had a BONE INFECTION from having fleas as a kitten.. there was never any trauma, no fractures, nothing as the emergency vet had charged me for. I will NEVER return there. They dont care about your animal, they care about getting your money, sitting on their cellphones and playing on that computer in their office on facebook.. Horrible experience, horrible office.

Last July 28th our black lab Boudicca was injured in a brushsaw accident. The front of her leg was badly cut (were really lucky she still has four legs). We run a sporting lodge about 75 miles NW of Millinocket ME. Of course it was a Sunday! Ray and Ron got the bleeding stopped and Ray and I set off to Brewer. It usually takes us about 2 1/2 hours to reach Millinocket but we made it to Brewer in three hours and five minutes. We were so very lucky to have Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary ready to help us. Boudicca stayed overnight and had surgery on her leg during the night. We picked her up the next morning and she walked out of the kennel. She had a hard cast for several weeks and than a soft cast. Thanks to the great care she got and great follow up care from Katahdin Animal Clinic we can only feel a thin line of scar tissue and she uses that leg as though it had never been injured. Thank you! Thank you!

Its late afternoon on a Friday, the cat started showing symptoms of a urinary tract blockage. Got the cat to the Veazie Vet for treatment (consists of 48 hours of IV and overnight care); and of course they are not an overnight facility. Standard protocol for overnight is to take the animal to EMEV in Brewer. The vet could do it for me (20.00 one-way) or I could do it myself. I took the cat over to Brewer;(I know getting wordy here) and I have to say that at first it was weird (new place for me & they were getting set-up or the evening/weekend rush). But, once I got registered and saw the attending vets, everything went well. They are very nice and very caring for your pet. Let me tell you though that treatments and emergency surgeries can get expensive here. I saw two dogs brought in, fwith faces covered in porcupine quills, price each 1,000.00 So be prepared with the Visa card. Lets face it - I love my animal!

I have to say that I found this Vet ER to be extremely helpful. I came in on a Saturday morning and my Great Pyr had been hit by a car. She had multiple fractures and they saw her immediately. Going to the ER, you always know that its going to be pricey, but thats the chance you take by sending them to the ER, right? Whats more important, the animals health and well being or a price tag? The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and my pets well being was most certainly their top priority. I was extremely saddened to come home and read so many poor reviews of this ER, most of which seemed like financially driven reviews. I never once had the feeling that our dog wasnt their first interest, not our pocketbooks.

This place was absolutely horrible! I brought my dog there and they didnt want to touch him or listen to me when I said I know whats wrong. They didnt want to do X-rays to see if his jaw was broken they just gave me meds and I was on my way! I called back later that night cause my dog was NOT letting me anywhere near him with that syringe so he wasnt getting his meds and still wasnt eating or drinking and all they said was "if it worsens bring him back" like who has that kind of money?! Absolutely horrible!

We brought our 17 year old Pomeranian down at 3:30 AM last Thursday morning after calling in advance to let them know we were coming. We were met at the door and he was immediately taken in for treatment. Although the results were not what we were hoping for I was pleased on how the situation was handled . I was very pleased with their cremation services after receiving our pets ashes. Thanks again for your kindness.

Always willing to help, even over the phone. However, sometimes the information is not the best. Was told to follow one course of action for a night, and after following up with my primary vet in the morning I had to rush them into my veterinarians office for treatment in hopes that it was not too late. That being said this was an isolated instance and other than that one time everyone has been great.

When a pet gets seriously sick or injured during off-hours then there is only one place to bring them. The emergency vet is very kind, compassionate and helpful and knowledgeable. As an ACO we deal with them frequently and trust them to do what is nest for both animals and owners.

They treated us like people who were concerned about a family member. They were respectful of my feelings and answered all my questions. We ended up needing to put our old kitty to sleep and did everything to comfort and respect my sick and dying kitty.

Poor front desk experience -- very unhelpful. Especially under times of stress, it is very helpful to have a timeframe, or a sense of how many animals are ahead of yours. The rest of the staff was good though

Excellent care! My Golden Nicky had a hematoma on his ear and I was concerned enough to go to the emergency care. Very informative and helpful. Thank you for putting my mind at ease! Worth every penny!

Although the wait was a little long.. but to be expected on a holiday... the vet did an awesome job sewing up my dogs nose... cant even tell he had a huge gash there now!

These people put their heart into their work. They will take good care of your pet. Its expensive but the people that work there dont have any control over that.
