I have always been less than thrilled with Hampden Veterinary Clinic. I took my Shih Tzu there, but we have since switched because we have just never felt welcome. Dr. Farren and her staff lack compassion. I brought my 10 year old Maine Coon cat, Sampson there and upon my arrival the receptionist said that my cat looked like "he just had a cold" I of course feared the worst because he was elderly and wasnt eating and with her comment my spirits lifted a bit. Then as soon as the vet saw my cat, she apologized because he was full of cancer and he was put to sleep that day. My mother brought her Shih Tzu in to be seen with a face full of porcupine quills in. She asked if she could go in while he was sedated to be by his side because as we all know...our animals are our babies. My mom asked twice, both times Doctor Farren said no. After she asked the second time, Dr. Farren refused to treat the dog because she felt my mom was questioning her ability to treat her dog. At this point with the poor little guy in pain, they had to leave and go to the emergency vet clinic for after hours care.

We had to take poor Tucker to the vet, he had a mouthful of quills and needed to be sedated in order to remove them. We went to Hampden Vet Clinic...Barbara Farren. I requested to go in with him and was told no, Barbara told me that she did not want me to see her remove the quills. I explained that I work in healthcare and I could handle it, I just wanted to be with him. I explained that had also seen both of my kids undergo surgeries. I tried 3 times to get her to let me accompany him. She then refused to treat my dog at all. She claimed it was because I did not have confidence in her. She told me she was sorry, I told her to tell Tucker that. We had to take my dog to the emergency vet who actually cared. Barbara Farren needs to be exposed for what she is..what vet refuses care to a dog in pain because his owner wants to be there for him....Doctors encourage parents to accompany their children. What is it that Barbara Farren is trying to hide?

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! this vet! Every visit is a visit of professionalism, knowledge and kindness. We are always greeted with such warmth and caring; our dog loves going to the vet (even if he has gotten a shot), because he knows how much he is loved there. As they say, kids and pets have a sense of who the truly kind people are in this world.

The best. Caring competent folks -- all with big hearts and lots of patience, not only with pets but with their owners! I feel very fortunate to have found this clinic for my cat -- its terrific! Very reassuring -- never had a cat before, and everyone there is VERY patient with me! Thank you!!

Went to get our little man Garbanzo (kitty) shots and de wormed, and the staff were very friendly and eager to help us out! Definitely reccommend this clinic for your pets! Dr Ferrin did a fantastic job, very professional

Great Service! We’re headed on vacation tomorrow and realized our dog needed 2 shots, before we could kennel him. Called at 8am and they were able to move some things around and get us in at 10am. HUGE HELP! Thanks

When the going gets tough, dont be surprised when your calls are ignored. Not willing to discuss options. Have never seen any other clinic be so rough with an ill, compliant pet.
