We have been going to Hickory Ridge for about 15 years. When our first dog was in his final days we were made aware that the prior owner (Dr. Gross) was leaving and a new owner (Dr. Parrish) had purchased the practice. We loved Dr. Gross, even with his lack of bedside manner. He had helped us through some very tough times with great advice and straightforward reccomendations. At that time Dr. Parrish had just started and we really didnt know her. We were so hurt with loss of what eventually became 2 dogs in 2 months. During this time we had adopted a new dog, a German Shepherd that we later found out had some major emotional issues. He was not very friendly to people outside of our household and I was nervous bringing him to see her. At their first meeting she was wonderful. She was patient and earned his trust which was really something to see. Fast forward to present day. We are now a 3 dog family and I recently had taken my Giant Schnauzer to the nearby emergency clinic where she was diagnosed with a very bad case of Pyometra on a Saturday night. Upon calling Dr. Parrish Monday morning and explaining the situation and the dire need for my dogs medical attention she worked her schedule around to be able to accomodate me and bring my dog in for surgery that Tuesday. The operation which normally takes about a half hour, took over two and half. If she had not done the surgery that quickly she could have ruptured and died in a day or so. Dr. Parris did a fantastic job. My girl is back to her old self and healthy as can be. Dr. Parrish and her fantastic staff went out of their way to keep me updated all the way through the process. They are caring, honest and knowledgeable and I cant thinnk of anything more you could ask for. I reccommend them without hesitation.

Used to love this clinic, but it appears to be going downhill. Took my cat here after receiving a card in the mail saying my cat was due for a check-up. Waited with my traumatized cat & rambunctious two year old in the lobby for over 30 minutes before we were finally seen. Turns out they had sent the card by mistake & I had just wasted my time & scared my cat for no reason! I was annoyed but know that mistakes happen. I told them that my cat has stinky breath & I might as well get an estimate for a dental cleaning while I was there. They told me they would give me a promotion for $40 off if I scheduled the cleaning. I went out to the front desk for the estimate. The receptionist was having trouble with the printer & was furious when I asked for her to print the estimate. I was holding my two year old at her front counter, she goes nuts over the printer and smacks it, yells "DAMMIT!" in front of my son. My son starts crying & is taken outside by my husband. When Im given the estimate, I ask if they had included the promotion. She said it did not, that the promotion was only if I scheduled it THAT DAY only. I call my husband who is putting our son in his car seat. He tells me that the cleaning is so expensive that we need to discuss it, but not right then because our son was throwing a fit. I asked the receptionist if I could schedule it after talking it over with my husband...we had not planned in scheduling an expensive procedure that day. She got all mad & told me that I want getting the $40 off unless I scheduled it right then & there regardless of whether or not I had wasted my entire morning by being there when my cat wasnt even due for shots. She didnt care. She was mad at the printer, so she gave me an attitude & took away the promotion...

I have brought 6 cats to this practice in the past few years, and my experiences have been fantastic. Dr. Parrish is caring, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable. She is also excellent with follow-through. For instance, she calls with test results as soon as she receives them. She also returns phone messages reliably. Another thing I really appreciate is that if a particular test or treatment is expensive, she will suggest lower cost options (if there are any). She explains the benefits and limitations of each option, so you can decide for yourself. The other vet, Dr. Mulford, is also very good. The front desk manager, Audrey, is efficient and friendly. Recently, this practice really went above and beyond with my cat Aurora. She was born feral, and although she is sweet-tempered, she spooks easily. She had a bad bacterial infection and needed antibiotics twice a day for 2 weeks. After the first 2 days, she would not let me catch her to administer the medication. After a week without success, the vet offered to board Aurora so the staff could give her the meds. The cost of boarding was 1/3 of what another local vet had charged me a while ago. Well, that cat still wouldnt let me catch her! After 2 weeks of trying, the office sent 2 technicians to my house to catch the cat for me. It took them half an hour even after I confined Aurora to one small room, but they did it. While Aurora was being boarded, I got phone calls with regular updates on her condition. Now she is home and seems to be doing fine. I have never had any vet exert that much effort for any of my animals before, and Ive had pets for almost 30 years.

We ran our Dog in to Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital literally at 8:02am this morning with a dog emergency! Meet Dr. Parrish right at the door. She was Soo Compassionate, understanding, and calm while we were freaking out!! She immediately took charge, took a quick relevant history, brought us into the room, was very efficient and thorough in her exam! She laid out All the options, relevant information, everything we needed. We felt Soo comfortable with her. (Ps, I love that they covered the exam table with a custom fitting cloth, it made the exam Soo much easier) The front desk Assistant was absolutely incredible as well! She was very professional but at the same time understandable and sweet!! We were extremely happy with the veterinary care provided as well. Dr. Parrish went above and beyond in helping our pup! They even cleaned him up and bathed him, cuz he got dirty :( from the emergency. For a bad situation, we couldnt have had a better Vet come into our lives!! Not to mention, our regular vet which is over an hour away had amazing things to say about her and her practice as well!! Highly recommend! Office was clean, tidy, welcoming! Very homey feel!

Last night I let my two dogs out in our fenced yard but had no idea the gate was open. They were found by a kind young lady in the neighborhood and brought into her home for the night. Ms. Emily is an employee of Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital. Not only did she care for my giant breed dogs (250+ pounds together) overnight in her home, she brought them to her office in the morning to be scanned for microchips. They were kept together at the vet with a blanket Ms. Emily brought from home to keep them comfortable. We were just reunited. I dont have the words to express my gratitude. I received the phone call from a lady at Hickory Ridge with the most pleasant demeanor giving me the good news that my dogs were safe. When I arrived Ms. Emily was there, on her own time, to make sure they were mine and continued to offer me help while getting them into my car. What a quality lady! Not only is she an asset to the business but to the community as well. And the office didnt ask for a thing for their time and facility use. What a generous group of people. I will be a fan forever! .
