Update: after one and half month, my Guinea pig made full recovery and back and running now; thank you! ---------------- Original review: Hands down, 5 stars! I love and enjoyed everything about this vet clinic! Nice facility, good people and great expertise, and to top it off all those with reasonable pricing. My Guinea pig Chewy was experiencing skin infection of unknown reason. Dr. Katherine Halapy, after extremely thorough and careful exam, decided to go for a 2-step treatment strategy: first to treat as lice infection since the treatment should be quicker and cheaper and less of a hustle; then when it didnt work, she prescribed fungus infection medications, without forcing me to pay for another appointment fee (appointment fee is 60 dollars which is not bad also). Now after 1.5 months, Chewy is back on her feet and up and running again. And we both thank the clinic and Dr. K. Highly recommend it! This clinic is famous in the region for treating and caring for exotic animals, from Guinea pig, snake, bird to mink. Dont even waste your time and money at any Petsmart or Petco or any clinic they recommend. Ps, when I first saw the 5 star reviews, I had my skepticism; but the experience of visiting was so enjoyable, I almost want to find an excuse just to visit again (like a nice little zoo down there)

My dogs are my babies, so what doctor they see is extremely important to me. Lakeside Veterinary Center is such a wonderful facility with the most caring staff! They treat my fur babies like important family members and seem to care about them as much as we do. I love the warm greeting we get the moment we walk in and the thorough care that is given to each one of my pups. Dr. Halapy was so happy to see my dogs that she was down on the floor with them in the room - thats my kind of lady. Dr. Rhody is so caring and very knowledgeable. When my sweet girl was sick and we didnt know what was wrong with her, he took such good care of her and got her back to health ASAP. Also, our big 110 lb boy can seem pretty intimidating when its time to get his nails clipped (the one thing he hates), but the Lakeside Veterinary Center team managed to keep him calm and handle his pedicure with ease. I cant say enough about the wonderful staff here. To top it off, they encourage their patients to come in for happy visits, so they can get pet and loved, that way coming to the vets office isnt so scary! If youre looking for a WONDERFUL, CARING, CONSIDERATE, PASSIONATE vet, look no further! They are also one of the few places that will see almost any type of animal that can walk through their door. Im very glad we found them!

I have been to many vets over the years with my dogs, hedgehog and parrots. Today I had to take my parrot in for a checkup after she was exposed to self cleaning oven fumes and was showing symptoms of compromise. I spoke with Amelia on the phone. She was professional, courteous and very caring. I was given an appointment the same day. The vet, very competent Veterinarian, saw my parrot and prescribed what needed to be done without ordering a lot of tests that were not necessary. I have been to vets before that order all these tests, only to say, " I was going to treat this with blah, blah, anyway regardless of the outcome of the tests. Well, hello, why didnt you spare me the expense of all those tests when you knew what you were going to do anyway:). I was very pleased with ALL the staff there, unlike other veterinary offices I have been to. I would highly recommend them. I intend to take all my pets to them in the future. The veterinarian was compassionate and caring as all the staff were. Worth the trip from Columbia!!

I am totally grateful and appreciative of Dr. Rhody at Lakeside Veterinary Center in Laurel. Ive had many many buns pass away due to inept "exotic" vets; whereas he actually heals them! Furthermore, there are times when Ive suggest an illness, and he *always* listens to my suggestion then explains why it could or could not be a possibility. If it can be a possibility, hell test for it and from there well both know whether to rule it out or not. For a vet to listen to a "Pet Parent" and not immediately dismiss us-- that is indicative of genuine care of the creatures well-being. Dr. Rhody is, by far, the best vet Ive ever encountered and his staff are amazing. If you need an amazing vet for any animal, I encourage you to go to Lakeside.

I was uncertain about returning to Lakeside Veterinary Center after a bad experience with a vet there who has since left the practice. When I found an injured animal by the side of the road, they were the only place I called willing to lend a helping hand. Their staff was so friendly and supportive, even though the animal didnt have an owner. They brainstormed creative ideas in case the creatures paralyzed back legs didnt come back up to speed. They didnt jump to euthanasia as the first option. And they didnt mind my repeated calls to check on the animals welfare. They have totally changed my opinion. I cannot thank them enough.

Lakeside and the worlds best vet have taken care of our dogs for two decades. Kali, our Doberman, was one of six in her litter. She was going on 14 when she died of cancer, and the breeder who sold her to us said of the six, Kali was the only one to live past 10. And the reason is Lakeside and the doctor, who took care of her all her life. Our little German Pincher, (not a miniature, but little next to a Doberman, has been under care at Lakeside for four years, and he also is healthier than his siblings. Again, great care. I could not recommend any vet or veterinary center more highly.

I had previously taken my turtle, who had a wound on one of her legs that wasnt healing, to a different vet who simply jabbed at the wound with a needle for about 5 minutes, opening up the scab. They then charged me $70 for the visit and a small tube of "natural" healing cream. Two weeks later, with no healing progress, I took her to Dr. Rhody at Lakeside. He actually examined her, explained to me that it was likely just an abrasion, and gave me an actual medical cream to apply. Two weeks after that, and my turtle had a faint hint of a scar left. Shes all good now :)

Ive taken my aquatic and box turtle to Lakeside for over a year, and always received excellent care. They were great with my aquatic turtle, iin particular, who seemingly electrocuted himself by biting and cracking the protective casing on his water heater, and also had a skin irritation. Lakeside was also great about helping treat a sick kitten that was given to me with a sever respiratory infection and missing one eye. They cleared up the infection and surgically closed the eye socket. Their prices are reasonable, and the doctors and staff are helpful and friendly.

Lakeside was recommended by my previous exotics vet when I moved to the area. They have always been really great, but were especially helpful last year when my chinchilla broke his foot. He had to visit on a regular basis and he received excellent care, even when he was more than a little crabby about being there. They made an effort to take x-rays without sedating him, to avoid unnecessary risk for him and higher costs for me. I would recommend them to anyone with a chinchilla or other exotic mammal.
