I am not here 2 leave a bad review because most of the people here are great! First Dr Singh is the best doctor I ever had anywhere! She will understand what your going thru she will listen to you and will do whatever she can to make your stay comfortable! The nurses are great besides 1! Taylor Michael Devin well those are the names I remembered but there were several more that did great jobs! And there was a technician Named Cecilia whos on your job and will do whatever she can to help! Great job SHADY GROVE you no how to help sick patients! OK NOW LETS GET DOWN TO BUISNESS AND THE REASON IM HERE! I HAD A NURSE NAMED APRIL APRIL APRIL APRIL APRIL APRIL PLEASE DONT FORGET HER NAME! Lets start off this April lady has something against black people Im not sure if its because my tattoos or because a black person done something wrong to her before idk! But before I just call her racist let me explain! First off I have a whole in my leg due to a bad car accident I was in which is swollen and I can barely move! So of course I need pain medication which the doctor gave me while I was here! So when it was time to get my dose she gave it 2 me! Then I needed another one several hours later and she asked whats my pain level I said 9 so she took initiative to give me a half dose and I asked her why then she told me because I told her my pain level was 7 which I didnt but then I was later informed that they shrink your dose if u tell them youre pain was 5 or below! Then she asked me why am I getting morphine and oxy well look at my leg! So she gets a doctor to tell me that there stopping my narcotics and there switching me to ibuprofen! So I called DR Singh and asked why? she said they cant do that and she will take care of it! Come to find out they they never did thats how I knew she told that doctor to do that! And I have no clue why! then she said thats a lot of tattoos that tells me a lot about you then i said excuse me then she left! A hour later she came back saying do u want another nurse! Im saying why would u say that! She said I just fell awkward! I said your fine! Even tho I was giving her weird facial expressions letting her no I no whats going on! Theres to much 2 speak about Im about to discharge now and I will be telling the doctor or who ever runs this whats going on! But Ill mention 1 more thing before I left she gave me a shot and she gave me several before they were fine but this was right before her shift was over and now my arms sore and swollen! The nurse after her said it looks like she put it in the wrong place Im sorry! SMH but please watch out for APRIL SHE IS MEAN RUDE GOT PERSONAL ISSUES AND SHE DOESNT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO INFORM SOMEONE IN HIGHER POWER

I came to Shady Grove Hospital through the ED by ambulance. I was kept there for almost 24 hours while they waited to complete a needless CT scan with contrast. The hospitalist would not consult with my specialists at GW even though I have a rare condition about which he had no knowledge. They would not give me the medications I needed and my blood pressure dropped to 73/38. They left me in the bed where I could not reach my call button following a procedure. I realized I was going to pass out and called the hospital operator 3 timesin a 40 minute period of time. She put me through to the floors nurses station and the person there said she would page my nurse. No one came and the nurse wrote in my chart that I was a needy patient. When the aid came in my room without being asked or informed, I told her I was going to pass out. I am a brittle diabetic. My blood sugar was 44. My nurse said she received the page but was with another patient and she thought another nurse was covering for her. The room was filthy with trash on the floor, gowns and bed pans stacked next to the sink, and trash 6" above the 3 tall trash can. The ED doctor told my daughter to go to my apartment and get the medicine bottles so I could take my own medication. When I went up to my room, the nurse yelled at me that I could not have medications in the room and I was being admitted because I was over medicated--I had cellulites in my left leg and a fever of 103--and they were taking away my medications. The doctor there would decide what medicines I could have--where were my rights? They locked up my medications and he took away medications without talking to the specialists who had prescribed them--endangering my life. When the charge nurse heard that I still had some medications in my room, she came in and started searching my room--suitcases, cabinets, bathroom, everywhere--without introducing herself or asking permission. I told her she had my medicines locked up and to ask the desk. She did and they told her they did have my medicines locked up. She went away but did not apologize. I told the patient advocate that I did have tupperware containers of my medications with me, separated out by days, but I was not giving those to them and I only took some when a nurse or the doctor gave me permission The hospitalist knew about my tupperware containers. I was bullied and mistreated by the hospital staff and I have tried to resolve this problem with the administration, but the VP Skip Margot who has received my letter of complaint concerning this matter has not called me as I was promised would happen.

I have been to the ER twice this week for my children so I can only comment on the pediatrics dept. the first time we arrived via an ambulance with my 2week old and were taken straight to the Ped ER. All the staff were compassionate and the Drs and nurses explained everything and answered our questions. We had to be admitted and stayed in the pediatric unit for a couple days. Some nurses were better than others but all of them were good. The Ped Drs were great, answering questions and following through on everything they said they were going to do. There was a decent play room next to the nurses station. A mini fridge and microwave was available for the whole pediatrics. The rooms had a chair that turned into a bed and a cushioned bench that could also be slept on. A tv with cable was in the room but wifi was spotty/non existent. There was a private toilet and a shared shower with the room next to ours. As a nursing mother to a newborn meals were provided for me. Directly outside pediatrics is a family lounge where visitors/family can gather. Our second visit was a false alarm with my toddler. At our home he showed difficulty breathing and by the time we drove to the Er and began registration he was visibly doing better. As a result we were not rushed into the ER (as a mother would always prefer) but as a child he was prioritized and I cant complain. This Ped ER visit also demonstrated an excellence in care. The nurses were great and the Ped Dr, who seemed very no-nonsense with adults, was amazing with my not so verbal and understandably scared toddler. He answered questions and broke it down for us. And he gave us options and signs to look for so we wouldnt have to come back needlessly. I did give it only four stars because the ER front desk is miserable. First it is unclear where people coming in should go. Both patients and visitors wind up in the same line. Next, because people dont know the process, the front desk staff wind up getting annoyed and rude. I realize it must be a difficult job dealing with people who are vulnerable and dont feel well... But they are vulnerable and dont feel well. It would be great if they could have more signs and maybe informational posters on what problems might be better off at an urgent care center. Or maybe hospitals should have an urgent care next to their ERs. But that is my only complaint with
