Doctor and those who worked there were friendly; HOWEVER, they spend most of their time trying to up sell you products, services and insurance you dont need. I get that this is how veterinarians make their profit but they were obnoxious about it. I had to review my bill carefully because it seemed extraordinarily high. After review they charged me for things I didnt agree to. It was rectified immediately but it definitely did not give me a good feeling about the practice. UPDATE: I originally rated this veterinary clinic a 3 out of 5 stars but recently got word that my dogs heart worm prescription through a legit (and popular) third party vet pharmacy was denied and I was asked to call my vet. I have done business with this company for years and never had a problem with them or any of the Vets I have ever been to giving them the necessary information to fill a prescription. When I called the company they told me it was more than likely an effort on the Vets part to try (again) to up-sell their own medications. If that is the case, rest assured we will be finding a new veterinary practice. Completely unethical and just down right shady. Will update when I talk to them Monday morning. 2nd UPDATE: After talking with the clinic on Monday it is clear that my suspicions were correct. This particular practice has absolutely no ethics (or business sense). They basically told me they will not approve of any prescription fills from anybody except themselves which runs completely contradictory to the conversation I had with the Vet tech at the office. I asked them directly if they will price match the popular online vet meds company and I was told their online pharmacy will price match but the actual office I was in will not so you can imagine how surprised I was when Jennifer completely contradicted what the receptionist/vet tech told me. I stated that I have been dealing with veterinarians and the popular online pharmacy for 5 years and I have never been denied before and that it is clear to me that this was nothing more than an attempt to prey on customers who arent aware enough to see that theyre being taken advantage of. Dr.Ball, Edwards, and the staff I dealt with are nothing more than a bunch of liars who should be ashamed of themselves for the way they conduct business. I will never do business with them nor would I recommend them in any situation. Just think if they lie about minor things in order to get your business imagine what they will do in more serious situations. I dont think I have ever met a shady Veterinarian/staff before but I guess there is a first time for everything.

In response to the comments made on May 22: We are very sorry that this individual thought we were "obnoxious" in the way we presented the medical options available for his dog. As the advocates for pets we do feel it is important to present owners with the many options that are available today. Veterinary medicine has changed greatly over the last 40 years. As technology has advanced in all aspects of our lives alot of the same benefits are now available for pets. To not inform owners means we are not doing our job. We also understand that in the exam room it is a lot of information to digest. That is why at checkout the receptionist reviews all charges to make sure owners are completely comfortable and aware of what they are paying for. On review of our video camera for that day this is exactly what happened with this person. Secondly, his prescription was not denied. As per FDA guidelines owners need to come in and pick up a written prescription if they want to buy medications on line because legitimate pharmacies require them-no different than your neighborhood pharmacies. Please see www.fda.gov for more information. The best reason to talk to your veterinarian prior to ordering medical products online is to make sure you understand there are risks involved. Counterfeit medications are now a multi-million dollar industry. There have been documented cases of dogs receiving "heartworm pills" that got heartworms anyway. Recently there was a case where a dog died after "Frontline" was applied that turned out not to be Frontline at all but some other insecticide. People dont realize that companies like Novartis, Merial, Merck , and many others wont sell their products directly to online pharmacies because they realize the importance of having a doctor-client relationship so their medications get used correctly. These products end up online because they are diverted by unscrupulous individuals who are only interested in money. Because of coupons and free doses that are available from the drug companies for things like heartworm pills and flea/tick prevention our prices for those items are often equal to and sometimes less than online pharmacies. We have tried to contact this person but he refuses to talk to us by hanging up as soon as we identify ourselves. Again we are sorry that his experience with us was not a positive one. Signed, Dr. Nancy Ball

We have been more than pleased with Solomons Veterinary Medical since we started taking our many animals to them. We love Dr Edwards and her devotion to our animals, the first time we met her was when our Cat (scruffy) had a medical emergency and she left her dinner to come in and see him. She goes the extra mile to research issues and always calls to ensure we understand the treatment. The entire staff at the clinic show great concern for the animals welfare along with ours. We had to have our beloved Dog Shadow put down and they were very kind and considerate throughout the whole ordeal. Compared to other vets in the area (and we have used a few until we found Solomons vet) the service and knowledge is well above par. The staff has always listened to our concerns and responded in a timely pleasent manner and with the appropriate information.

I have 4 dogs! When I moved to Southern Maryland I went to 3 different places until I felt comfortable with Solomons. Amanda and Jennifer where the receptionist working the first day I went and they welcomed me with very warm smiles, the tech Bonnie was very nice and explained all the vaccines and Dr. Edwards was very nice and treated my pets like they were her own the past time Cathy and another Jennifer were working and I kept with the same doctor and the tech was the same as well but all were wonderful! I won't go anywhere else and will reccommend this place to everyone I know that has animals. Everyone may have their own opinions on this vet but my experience was GREAT! Thank you to all the staff at Solomons Vet!

We have taken our dogs here since we moved to the area. The staff are always courteous and knowledgeable. I have complete confidence in their dedication to animals and their families. They have seen us through the loss of a pet and two adoptions as well as several surgeries. I highly recommend them.

These people are all about overcharging you. They dont care about you or your pet. They just care about the $$$$. They try to get you to pay for unnecessary services and when you dont go there, they turn you into Animal Control. DO NOT USE THIS VET UNLESS.

Excellent comprehensive care with lots of love. The only veterinary facility Ive ever used that follows up within 36 hours of visit (test results, shots, disposition of pet, etc). Quality care facilitated excellent pet growth in 6 weeks!
