I have had the Banfield Optimum Plan for my dog and cat for several years and had no problems because they are healthy and I took them every year for a check up like I am supposed to. My family is moving to Europe this year, so I took my dog and cat in to see Dr. Singh and Dr. Mike before we left because we needed international health certificates to be allowed to fly into the European Union. I brought them both in November (even though we werent leaving until January) because I knew that there were very specific rules about the rabies vaccine. I was very specific when I dropped the dog off for his check up and teeth cleaning that he was going to Austria and that he needed all his shots to be legal for Austria. Through a little bit of googling, I knew that his rabies vaccine had to be no more than a year old but at least 30 days old on the day we flew out. I told the vet tech this. When I picked my dog up that evening, Dr. Singh had left early so I never saw him personally, but the vet tech told me everything was fine. I asked about his rabies vaccine and the tech said it was fine. I came back a few days before we were supposed to fly out to see Dr. Mike and get our international health certificates. Dr. Mike said everything was fine and the dog would be ready to go. When I saw his rabies certificate, it said that it was two years old. I brought this to their attention and they said it was fine because his shot was good for three years. I told them that was not fine because they can not issue a health certificate for Europe with a vaccine over a year old. I told them I had said this a month ago when I brought him in and they said that there was nothing written down so they did not know. THEY ARE VETS ISSUING INTERNATIONAL HEALTH CERTIFICATES and THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR A VALID CERTIFICATE! They have taken no accountability for their mistake, they have never even appologized much less offered to help cover the immense expense my family is having to undertake sending the dog to Europe 30 days after we get here. Plus, my poor children have had to leave everything they know and love, including the dog who has been a member of our family for almost 7 years. Shame on Columbia Banfield and Banfield corporate for letting things like this happen and not being responsible when they make mistakes!

Horrible customer service!! We took my daughters beloved sick gerbil there for a sudden bleeding tumor. I will admit Dr. Mike was very compassionate in offering treatment and doing what could be done. The tumor was inoperable, but if we could heal the wound my daughter would have more time to say good-bye. $85 later, we went home to care for it. When we were called to remind us of our follow-up visit, I specifically asked if there was a charge. The woman told us to hang on, then returned to say that no, since it was a follow-up there would be no charge. I had no intention of paying more money just to be told either keep doing what were doing or its time to talk about other options. So, when we went to our appointment I again inquired as to a fee for follow-up because I hate surprises. I was mortified to be told that yes, there would be a charge of $35! When I told them of my specific inquiry the day before, I got the lovely response of, "Did you get a name?" Since I had not, the manager persisted in requiring the fee. Remember, this is to take a 5 second visual look at a wound to see if it is healing. Apparently the manager preferred to ASSUME I am a liar instead of that someone on their part made an error. We left without being seen, and I had to explain to my distraught daughter that we can not allow people to take advantage of us when our emotions are involved. We will not use a company that assumes we are lying just so they can collect a petty fee. They have lost our business forever, and I am being vocal in letting others know that Banfield cares more for MONEY than their customers! Shame on you Banfield. Dr. Mike, please find another employer before your reputation is destroyed.

At first glance, we liked the management. However, the "daycare providers" were less than caring. There were a couple of ladies in the nursery that were outstanding. They took care of our 1-yr-old. But after a few days, we noticed that the others who rotated in did not pay proper attention, or for that matter, check on what our child could eat/not eat. Twice they gave him food we specifically said not to give him. Our 3-yr-old, who loves socializing and is easy going, screamed that he did not want to go... starting the second day. We could not believe the amount of yelling the providers did; their lack of interaction with the parents; their poor attitudes; and lastly, the "I really dont care attitude" of the management, which took about two weeks to properly observe. We were "drop-ins" for two weeks, and simply cannot imagine ever entrusting these folks with our kids again. We ultimately pulled them out and went over to the Grace Episcopal Church/day care.

My experience has been fair. I have two cats and signed up for the wellness plan. While the veternary care has been ok, one of my cats just dropped off of their radar. They just stopped notifying me that he needed to come in for any services so he now goes to a different vet. Regarding the wellness plan, I absolutely agree with the other comments above. It seems everytime I bring my cat in, they find something else to charge me for thats not coverered by the plan. So Im also going to change vets once his wellness plan coverage expires.

I brought my kitten in who I had rescued from this Petsmart shelter. He had a severely infected eye which one of the doctors didnt seem to care about at all! He ran the normal heart rate and even checked for parasites which he was already on medication for. I took the kitten to another vet a few days later and they were concerned he would lose the eye if it was not treated correctly. The staff and doctors did not take this seriously at this Banfield. They overcharge for things I didnt need and didnt care about my cats wellbeing.

I absolutely love this place. Every time my puppy (Common) and I come here we are greeted cheerfully. Our Dr. is Dr.Stone she is the BEST and i would recommend her to anyone who wants to come here. She loves her job and it shows in the way she treats my puppy. Common gets excited when he sees her. I always get seen right away and I never wait in the room for a long period of time without Dr. Stone always comes right in. Thanks to Dr. Stone and the staff of this location for making all my visits pleasant

I took my cat there and he was clearly very sick - they gave him a steroid injection which made his heart condition worse, they misdiagnosed him, and they performed unnecessary tests that I didnt want done on him. It cost me over 600 dollars and I ended up putting the cat to sleep later that night at the emergency place in Annapolis (who were absolutely wonderful!). Never again will I bother going to petsmart for a vet...
