I recently had an excellent experience with Cape Cod Vet Specialists, South Dennis location. It feels awkward using the word "excellent" as we had to say good bye to our cat of 16 years, but the staff and in particular the veterinarian who took our case was outstanding in how they handled the situation. (I regret that I did not write down the veterinarians name, but believe it was Dr. Rebecca Brahm.) The situation was fairly nightmarish to begin with. Our beloved cat that has been part of our family for years suddenly is acting paralyzed (while walking around fine just moments before). It is Sunday of Labor Day weekend and our vets office is closed. Fortunately we were referred to Cape Cod Vets Specialists of South Dennis for 24/7 emergency care. It took us just under an hour to get to this location and I was so grateful that the staff met us at the car and assisted us in carrying on our pet who was clearly suffering. We were seen immediately and provided with a clear diagnosis and options. The veterinarian was extremely considerate and understanding of our feelings in this difficult situation. I wish we still had our cat, but if this had to occur, I couldnt have asked for better pet care. I also received a hand-written sympathy card from the veterinarian a few days later. I am so appreciative of people who do their job remarkably well. Thank you Cape Cod Vets Specialists - we would recommend you to any fellow pet owner.

We brought our cat there for a second opinion on a growth in our cats mouth. She had been losing weight and was unable to eat on her own. We could not afford a biopsy given our current financial situation so we wanted to see an oncology specialist for the best possible opinion. The vet was very honest about the prognosis, costs, and benefits of differing options given her condition. In the end we decided it was best to euthanize our pet.The staff was very courteous, respectful, and understanding of our grief as we were extremely upset, giving us kind words and the time we needed to say goodbye. We are very grateful for this. I am editing this review for the following: Our latest kitten became ill and was not eating so we returned here despite the cost to get the best possible treatment (or so we thought). Despite the fever, and stating the cat would receive IV fluids, she was sent home with no treatment which I discovered when I returned home. Further, she was tested for Fiv/Leukemia despite having told them she had been tested and vaccinated for both at a cost of $75. The next day my kitten had a fever of 105 and had to receive emergency treatment. Thankfully she is now fine due to the care provided at another clinic. My second visit here was distasteful to say the least. Like ours, I guess your experience will depend highly on which Vet you see. I dont like to gamble with my pets health, so I will not be returning.

They charge $350 minimum to just look at your pet. They give a low and high estimate, then charge higher than the high estimate. You dont want to go there unless you fear your dog might die before you can get it to your regular vet. They charge anywhere from 4 to 10 times more than your regular vet. My dog was attacked by a pitbull 2 weeks ago and I feared need for of blood loss Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. I paid $800 for them to shave his neck, clean the 3 teeth punctures, give him 10mg of methadone for pain, 1 week of amoxicillin, 20 tramadol for pain and an x-ray of his neck. My vet would have charged $280. They played on my panic, making me almost allow them to keep him to do exploratory surgery to make sure a vein or artery werent nicked for an estimate of$3,000! They told me he needed surgery! I called them later when I was called down to see why he needed surgery. That is the only time they told me it was exploratory! Greedy thieves. I watched 4 people over a 1 hour period pay then minimum$2.000 each for their cat or dog! Insanity at the greed. They know youre in panic and would do anything to save one you love and take advantage. I pray you never have an emergency with your pet which means I hope of your pet needs medical attention, I pray its during regular veterinary hours.

HAVE BEEN HOLDING BACK WRITING A REVIEW. THEY SHOULD PUT A SIGN SAYING,"WE ARE GREEDY VETS, EMPTY YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, PLEASE". WENT TO OUR REGULAR VET AND HE DID SOME TESTS, CAME TO $61 AS AN EMERGENCY, THEN WENT TO "CAPE COD RIPOFFS". WALKED IN WITH OUR DOG, BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED AT HER, THAT WILL BE $500 TO $700. BUT THEY MADE SURE YOU PAYED UP FRONT. THEN 10 MIN. LATER THEY CAME OUT AND SAID IT DIDNT LOOK GOOD AND IT WOULD BE $5,000 TO $10,000 IF WE WANTED SURGERY, THAT MAYBE THE DOG WOULD LAST 30 DAYS. HOW CRUEL AND INSENSITIVE CAN THESE PEOPLE BE. THEY PRAY ON YOUR FEELING. THEY SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE AGS OFFICE AND BETTER BUSINESS OFFICE. THE ITEMIZED BILL SEEMED TO BE A JOKE. HOW COULD THEY DO ALL THESE THINGS IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE REG VET DID THE TESTS AND CHARGED $61 FOR THE SAME DIAGNOSIS . THEY SAID THE REG VET DONT KNOW THEIR PRICING. HELLO, GUESS NOT. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. MINUS STARS FOR THIS PLACE. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, KEEP CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED AND DID NOT HAVE A TECHNICIAN THERE TO DO ULTRA SOUND. SO, AS AN EMERGENCY ROOM HOSPITAL, THEY GET AN "F" FOR FAILURE

We arrived at 3:30 AM with our dog who had been shaking his head non stop and trying to scratch himself all over on our rug. When he vomited and his face began to swell up, we knew it was time for CCVS to handle the situation...And that they did!! He was having an allergic reaction, for which he was given an injection and a prescription. Now, 12 hours later, the swelling is gone and hes his old self again. We had never been to CCVS before but had heard rumors about exhorbortant prices and long waiting room times as well as uncaring staff. That could not be farther from the truth!! The doctor on night duty was perhaps the most caring and informative vet Ive experienced in the 25 years Ive had pets. Sure it cost a little more than my usual vet would have charged but it was also in the middle of the night on Saturday. We werent about to wait until Monday morning. Pets should be treated as our children and, as such, need to go to the emergency room when the situation warrants it. Long story short...They were great and Id go there again without hesitation.

This amazing place saved our dog’s life after he almost died due to the negligence of our regular vet. When we brought our 2.5 year old Busby in at 8pm last Thursday, he was literally dying from sepsis from what was supposed to have been a simple procedure. After stabilizing him, Dr. Kochin and Dr. O’Marra conducted three surgical procedures during a 5-6 hour period through the night and saved him. His post surgical care has been phenomenal and every complication, symptom and set back has been addressed and carefully monitored. He was transferred from their Dennis location to Buzzards Bay so he could get even closer monitoring. All of the doctors, nurses, technicians and other staff have been extraordinarily kind, communicative, honest, comforting, and responsive. We will be forever grateful to them for saving Busby’s life and helping him and us through this traumatic ordeal that never should have happened in the first place.
