I had been avoiding going to the dentist for the last 2-3 years due to an insurance issue, I was finally able to get it straightened out and decided that it was time to get a checkup. As a young adult this was my first time needing to find a new dentist on my own. I am used to small town privetly owned dentist offices and was a little worried about going to a chain. I originally chose this location due to the good reviews on google and yelp and due to how close it was to my house. In those 2-3 years I managed to get 6 cavities and one wisdom tooth came in. Dr. Mancini saw me for my cavities and did a wonderful job making sure that there was no pain during any of my many visits. He was also very quick taking care of 2-3 cavities per visit and only taking just under an hour. It has been a little more than a month since my first filling and Ive yet to have a problem with any of my teeth. I truly believe that he is the best dentist I have been to, far better than the private dentist I normally go to. He didnt to just get rid of the cavity, but to also make sure that the tooth looked nice as well. Dr. Ruben Figueroa saw me for my wisdom tooth. I had been told for the last 10 years or so that I would never get my wisdom teeth, my mouth was to small and the xrays that were taken when I was younger, never showed any sign that they were there. However, several years ago I had one that came in and I tried to ignore it so I wouldnt have to have it taken out, but about four months ago it started to bother me and would hit the back of my jaw. Dr. Figueroa had me in and out of the dentist office within 20mins and I never felt a thing. I was so nervous about having a tooth removed that I almost canceled the appointment, but I am glad I didnt. My mouth feels so much better and the area where the tooth was removed healed within days, although, I was carefull with it for at least a week because I did not want to deal with it getting infected. Lastly, the receptionist were great, my insurance is through a local store for dental and vision. The weird part about this company is that you have to send them an estimate and they will tell you how much they will cover, if you are okay with what they will cover then you get the work done, and then their billed, and the company doing the work gets paid in 2-3 weeks. This is tedious for the receptionist, but they were more than happy to work with my insurance company to make sure I could get all of the work I needed done without being over charged. They were always friendly and kind, and offered a payment plan if I needed it due to the amount of work I had done. I would absolutely recommend Gentle Dental of JP to anyone, the entire staff was wonderful, from the Receptionist, and Assistants, to the Hygienist.

I have been a patient at Gentle Dental JP (GDJP) for exactly 10 years now. Dr. Pezeshki has been my dentist for the majority of that time. Although the building is somewhat unattractive from the street, as you step into the front door, the ugly duckling becomes a swan. The staff are gracious and welcoming. They are also quite understanding that many people are afraid of the costs and pain associated with dental care, so their humor is usually pretty great, too. This GDJP team always goes the extra mile to care for patients. They even stayed open late for me one evening to get back from work so that they could give me wax to cover a sharp broken tooth that didnt take well to my large helping of waffle cone crunch ice cream. Dr. Pez, as he goes by, has made himself available by email (to which is quickly responsive). He is very practical and has never pushed excess care or procedures on me, earning my trust and my return visits. My dental hygienists, Tanika and Monica, who have been doing my twice yearly dental cleaning, have also been there for many years and know how to deal calmly with anxious/neurotic patients. As an urban resident, many businesses and their employees can feel temporary and transient, as Im sure the customer base may also seem. However, at Gentle Dental JP, having had largely the same staff caring for me for 10 years, it truly is my hometown dentist office, and I know they have my best interests at heart. Give them a shot! You wont be sorry. And, as a medical doctor, one of whose specialties is dental pathology, I can assure you that they know their stuff as an experienced staff.

Several years ago, I decided to come back into the fold and finally go to the dentist after some time of neglect and denial. I knew I would be facing a long treatment plan to restore my overall dental health, and based on my previous experiences with other dental practices, the prospect of many repeat visits seemed really daunting. At my first consultation, Dr. Pezeshki told me the truth about what my situation was, after a very thorough examination. We worked together to develop a plan to fix the worst things first, and over a period of a few years I finally finished getting all the restorative work done. I was able to manage things budget-wise, but more importantly, I felt valued and respected by Dr. Pezeshki and his staff every time I came in for a visit. I have since moved to Somerville from JP, but I have decided to continue traveling to Dr. Pezeshkis practice because I value our relationship and I trust and appreciate the work that he and the staff at Gentle Dental of Jamaica Plain have done for me. Any time I have had the slightest issue with soreness or pain or bite/fit issues, they went out of their way to see me immediately, and every time I was given treatment or adjustments that helped. If you are looking for a dental practice because you are new to the neighborhood, or need to switch dentists for whatever reason, I thoroughly recommend Dr. Pezeshki and Gentle Dental of Jamaica Plain.

The experience of going to Gentle Dental in JP starts at the front. So in order for a customer to have a good experience and want to come back it is vital that the front line staff be polite and accommodating which is exactly what Susan and Nancy are. You can tell that they try and have years of experience serving the public. This is one of the reasons I have been bringing my kids here for the past 6 -7 years However the office manager who also sits at the front makes me very uncomfortable with each interaction I have with her. She has a sense of entitlement and speaks as though I (the average NON Doctor) should know the Ortho processes. People want a customer service rep/receptionist that speaks in laymans terms and makes them feel warm and welcome. Despite the service and assistance I get from the office manager the care my children and I get from the Hygienists Tanika and the Ortho assistant Natasha is exceptional. Tanika is always thorough and offers great advice in oral health. Natasha is gentle and understands that servicing children is different than servicing adults and acts accordingly. Overall I love this place. Not the parking though.
