I am very upset with the way our animals’ visit was handled. We had agreed on an estimate (which we have a copy of) was around $409 to have our female spayed in addition to one baby tooth being extracted. I also signed a form that if any additional work would be needed, we would be contacted. We received no such call. Upon picking Sammie up, our bill was for almost $800, I freaked a bit. I understand that it may have been a little more, however, the day we had the estimate done we had been told by the vet, it might even be lower then the $400 if everything was fine with her not being pregnant (which I was told she may or may not have been, to early to tell). I understand being upset because there had been an error with the estimates (their fault) and the Vet who did the surgery said she should have looked closer at the permission form (another error); however, someone in their office got her chart messed up and the procedure we agreed to was missing, however that was not our fault and the vet got nasty when she told us your dog got more then she should have and she would have to eat the bill, sorry but your clinics fault. I felt we were being treated rudely by both the person who worked on our Sammie and those at the front desk. And when the technician threw my credit card back at me on the counter, I really got upset. This was not our fault, we did not make the error, and I have never been treated like this from a veterinarian place before. In addition, as I was handed Sammie, I was told that paper where attached to help take care of her at home, there were none, (only ones was how to take care of her dental work that was done against my approval) and as I we were taking her home I noticed my hands were covered in blood; her leg where the IV was at, had no pressure bandage on it and she was bleeding profusely from it and I had to work to stop it. The way we were treated at this clinic, I was not about to callback up and ask, so I just called my niece who works at the vet we use to go to in St Louis, MO which actually knows how to treat people and the loved one they work on. It was bad enough on how we were treated because some of the people were upset and mad at us,but sending us home with no instructions on how to take care of her and her leg bleeding like that, was uncalled for, to put an animal at possible risk is unbelievable whether it was intentional or not. That clinic could have made money on us as we are now starting our kennel and will be showing and breeding show poodles, and we have four animals now that needed a good veterinarian, but I will not be treated like this, so I will be looking some place else to take care of our babies.

Best care anywhere! The cost of vet care is high everywhere you go, but this hospital really delivers for what you pay. They take great care of my dogs and my cat and I am always treated very nicely when I have to visit. They offer great prices on some of the flea and tick stuff now - its the same price you can pay online - and that alone proves that they arent trying to gouge anyone. All of the staff is great, especially Dr Burk. She is very caring and takes the time to explain things. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

I and my family are so grateful to Dr. Schulz for her compassion and generosity in going way above and beyond the call of duty to help our sick cockatiel. After a full day of "intensive care", Dr. Schulz gave us a drastically discounted second day of much needed tube feeding and then volunteered to take her home for several days so she could continue to tube feed during her days off. She is definitely standing in the gap to help preserve Luigis life, and our entire family is tremendously grateful.

The doctor is very knowledgeable and very thorough. He is great with my dog and he doesnt yank my chain when it comes to recommended or mandatory procedures. Affordable and very accommodating for last minute, unscheduled visits. EDIT: I had originally gave South Hyland 3 stars. After talking among peers and a visit to a geographically closer vet (for an emergency visit), I can very comfortably say that S.H. is probably one of the best in the area in terms of cost and customer service.

Phenomenal practice. We have searched and search for years...this is FINALLY a vet you can trust. No pressure. Love of animals. They will tell you what is a MUST for your animals will being (our dog needed serious dental work) and they will tell you the other stuff, but whether it is really an option. I feel in charge. They are SO clean and very reasonable. We love them!

The Vet Techs were the best part of this Pet Hospital. The Doctors didnt seem to care very much. The prices are WAY high. I also cannot support any organization that performs de-claws on cats...which they do. SO I wont be going back until that changes.

We have 6 cats. Needless to say, we use the services of a veterinarian often. I moved to Bloomington and changed vets two or three times. Our neighbor recommended South Hyland Pet Hospital. We have never been happier.

Nice vet clinic. Really enjoyed going there even in an emergency. The vet was kind and took care of an issue in timely manner.
