I recently adopted a kitten from the Humane Society at the end of July. I was able to call the Golden Valley Animal Hospital and setup a general exam very easily! They scheduled me a couple days after I called, and offered important information over the phone to help the registration and appointment go smoothly when I arrived. The receptionists were very nice, and found an open room for me to sit in with my kitten so he wouldnt get overwhelmed up front. The rooms were spacious, and very clean considering how many animals visit during the day. I met with Dr. Heidi Blackburn, she has plenty of experience and knowledge with cats and dogs. Dr.Blackburn was very gentle when handling my kitten, and was easy to talk to about general questions or concerns. She wasnt short, and answered each question with detail in a way that seemed sincere as if it was her own animal. I would also like to mention, Dr.Blackburn discussed the costs for vaccines, medications, or surgeries before moving forward with your animal. Overall, I was there for about an hour and each employee I encountered was very helpful and wanted the best for each animal that came through the door! Ill definitely be back!

I had a 5 month old puppy and an older dog boarded for a week, 9/2013 - the staff at the front desk told me that the puppy broke a tooth and that I needed to make an appointment with the vet to most likely have the tooth extracted. that did not look like what was described to me and I sought an independent opinion Well it turned out that decidious (sp) canines both were sloughing and one lower left happened to be a bit crooked with decidious (sp) tooth still sitting in place,( off to the side) making it look broken, it was not (had another vet evaluate the dogs mouth ). The advice the second vet gave me was to watch and observe , and sure enough both permanent canines came in. Both the dogs were also very thirsty and drank a lot of water for three days after getting home, i am curious about why the vet was not told of the alledged (sp) injury and why both my dogs were so very thirsty. fortunately their urine was clear and output good . I have been taking my pets there for years since before the remodeling and had not had a bad experience until now.

Its been a mixed experience here. We joined GVAH because we know and trust Dr. Goldblatt. She is wonderful, but we rarely get to see her. On the other hand, weve had two appointments with Dr. Rothstein, who has terrible bedside manner. He has been brash and judgmental. We recently had our kitten spayed, paid $385, and for a premium price got substandard care. Our poor cat had external stitches and they told us we should have them out in 2 weeks, which is longer than most vets recommend. They did not even suggest the option of internal stitches, for which she would have not had to wear an Elizabethan collar at all. I was also horrified to find out they do declawing procedures here, which is not just removing the claw, as the name suggests, but amputation at the knuckle. I have little faith that they are looking after the best interest of our pet and we will be taking her elsewhere in the future.

We took our sick turtle here. The vet was rude and said she was fine, so I took her home. Two days later when her symptoms worsened, I took her back to insist she was sick. There, she stayed 5 days for injections and 10 more days because we were going away and we wanted to make sure she was in good hands. I called every day to check on her, and was told she was eating and "acting like a turtle". When we picked her up, she was worse than when we brought her in, and died a few days later. I am horrified that they either blatantly lied to me every day I called to check on her, or they didnt even bother to check on her to see how she was doing for the 15 days she was there. They also broke her heat lamp and didnt return many of her items when we went to pick her up. They hurt our family financially and emotionally by their lack of care that resulted in the death of our family pet.

Not recommended. We had to put our 20 year old beloved cat to sleep Nov. 2016 and it was the hardest experience of my husband and my life and unfortunately our experience at this vet made it even harder. The veterinarian was cold and didnt seem to care whatsoever that this was a very sad experience for us. My family has put down pets in the past and the vets we went to had ALWAYS sent a condolence card at the minimum but not one word since our visit to Golden Valley Animal Hospital to put our cat to sleep. We left the clinic sobbing without a word of sympathy from the staff. Not impressed at all and quite shocked by the lack of care and emotion. This was a painful experience and I would not recommend this vet to anyone.

Honest staff who gives you the straight scoop! I took my 6 month old puppy here to get a red lump on his leg checked out. I took him to Banfield a week ago and they couldnt even tell me what it even looked like. They wanted to do a biopsy and outsource the lab work, said the bump could be a number of things. I walked into Golden Valley and the wonderful vet looked at it immediately told me what it most likely is. I wanted to do the biopsy, just to have piece of mind. After 4 minutes, she comes back with the lab results. It was exactly what she had guessed. The pricing was half of what Banfield was going to charge me. No wonder the lobby is so busy, fantastic staff! Will be going here from now on.

Dental service quoted for dog was $600. Received call while dog in surgery with price of $1200. Butters, our Pomeranian needed a teeth cleaning and extractions. Golden Valley Animal Hospital gave us a quote of $600. On Thursday, July 2nd, while Butters was in surgery, Dr. Blackburn called and said that the fee would be $1200. This was twice the quote. I felt that I had no options as the dog was in surgery. Every other vet that I have spoken to has said that this price is outrageous. Also, the day before, on July 1, I had taken another dog to the cardiologist. We were told that the visit was approx $500, but that was $800! Find another vet. Dont go to Greenbriar either. Expensive and dirty!

I LOVE this clinic. My dog, Zeus, has had many health problems in the year that Ive had him and I cant rave enough about the care he receives from every staff member we encounter. They always greet both of us cheerfully as soon as we walk in the door. Theyre always willing to spend the extra time to answer all of my questions. They call to check on him after hes been in for an appointment. Ive never experienced such dedicated staff. Dr. Reimann usually cares for Zeus and makes me feel like she takes care of him as if he were her own. He used to be terrified of the vets office, but theyve doted on him so much that hes calm and happy when hes there.
