Lesson learned. Just spent 4 hours at the Cox Regional Hospital South in Springfield at the ER. Noticed many went in ahead of us, so was thinking their emergency was greater...which Im sure it was. I was sympton free at the time, so Im sure they didnt think it was a rush, but I had had a seizure on my left side and never had one before. I am 58, so was trying to make sure all was okay, and it wasnt a stroke. I felt exhausted and had a headache. I went up to see about leaving and coming back tomorrow, and was sent to a room, and treated extremely rudely. A taller lady, pony tail, brunette. Okay, now wait, my family just waited here for 4 hours, and You are treated ME terribly? She wouldnt even look at me when she talked to me. Wait, lady, arent you getting PAID to be here? I thought it was important enough to sit there four hours waiting, I figured they would think we should get in. When they took me back to the room, I was shocked that nurses were standing around chatting, and it was quiet back there. I thought it would be extreme hustle and bustle. Wow!! Shocked!!! I We left as I told the nurse, "its not necessary to treat others so badly". She said nothing. Then after talking to others I realized, others dont go there because of similar reasons. Im hearing Mercy Hospital is the place to be. This is one lady who will never return!! Very sad! One more thing: I did wander, "why are they treating us like this"??? Im certainly not here for drugs, cant be that. I have very good insurance, cant be that...wow!! What did they have to gain? Are they just lazy? I had a clear account, we had done business with Cox for several years in Branson.

The worst Ive ever had, had to be there this am at 5:30 and my wife was to be the first in OR to fix a problem that we have incurred since her first operation 2 weeks ago and now its infected but we got to the desk at 5:30 they took our info we went out and waited and waited and waited, finally my wife started crying cuz her foot was hurting so bad,, she hadnt had any medication since midnight, her foot was not elevated and she was suppose to be in the OR 3 hours ago. They finally came and got us, took us to a room and she got prepared for the operation which is to reopen the wound, irragate and see whats causing the seepage and possible infection, there are plates and screws involved on both sides of her ankle and one side is really bad in a weeks time. We wait and we wait and we wait, finally the Dr. comes in and tells us that hes sorry but our dr. didnt get his facts straight about when we could get in but no one told us about any of this. Long story short, we waited over 5 hours and my wife was still laying there waiting and I had to leave. If I had run my business like you run your hospital I would still be working and I have been retired for 10 years, you just do not treat your patients like this and I shouldnt have to be the one telling you this, WHAT A NIGHTMARE WE HAVE HAD TODAY.

I had been having a severe migraine headache for four days so I decided to go the the E.R. First I had to wait in the waiting room over an hour. When I was finally taken to my own room, the R.N. was not very friendly. I had to put on a hospital gown for a headache? I just wanted relief! She leaves the room and returns nearly 30 minutes later to tell me that they had ordered an M.R.I. on my brain. I didnt get to use the restroom when I needed to, they didnt offer to dim the lights for me, and pretty much demanded their money up front before treatment. For a 20-30 minute M.R.I. I was at the hospital from 9:30 p.m. to 1:45 a.m. just to be told everything was okay and that the Dr. had ordered Hydrocodone. First off, that is just a pain killer, not a migraine medicine, and second, dont they think Ive tried pain killers before I came there. Me and my husband were very upset when we were told we could leave. And of course, I left with my migraine! No Help At All. Thanks for wasting four hours of time that I could have been trying to sleep it off!

I can honestly say that Cox and its affiliate locations are some of the best in the area. My family uses nothing but Cox Health. I had surgery to remove my gall bladder just last week while my great grandma had hip surgery. They were insistent on walking the first day but that is so your body can adjust and you wont be nearly as sore the next day, especially when doing physical therapy. I have never had more than just the occasional cranky staff member, but everyone, including my doctor, is phenomenal. I read all these other reviews about the mean staff and I feel bad that they havent had the experience that I have had. I have had nurses that care about you not just on the medical level, but the human level as well. The staff at the hospital took tremendous care of our family when my great grandpa passed and helped everyone of us, not just him. The only problem I have with Cox Health is the price, but thats to be expected given that its a medical facility. If you do need care, I really recommend Cox Health.

I dont know if its because its a non-profit hospital or what but the experience was akin to being in the twilight zone they did surgery on my 75 yr. dad because he had a stroke due to blockage in his neck.. Hes a bit large but hes average height well the wire they put the stent in with to enlarge the blood vessel was apparently too short.. They had to REDO the surgery after getting the right equipment shipped in from god knows where. Two days later repeat surgery somehow its still too short but dont worry the doctor is improvising what the hell is this? Apparently he suffered some damage to his heart when they ran the stent up there but its in there fine after the 2nd time.... They also mentioned they werent going to use anesthesia for this surgery as he was too sickly but they did anyway.. twice.. Completely incompetent but sadly this seems to be the usual experience weve been getting from the hospitals around me.. your lucky if the doctor doesnt drop you on your head.

My regular Dr sent me to Cox Er to be admitted for Blood posioning. He talked to some one on the phone and he told me they were aware of my situation and were waiting for me. I arrived NO ONE knew squat at the desk, In fact they were much more intrested in telling each other little jokes and laughing together than they were concerned with ANY Paitent. 5 1/2 hours LATER I finally got to a bed in the ER. The ER was so understaffed my RN kept having to run out of my room to help other nurses with a drunk who was making a scene down the hall. And that set the scene for the entire stay... I was given some Resident DR who Spoke some BROKEN english and I only saw about 2 mins THE ENTIRE STAY, On my floor 7 my two RNs and two CNAs were very nice, but SOOOOO overloaded!! One little example it took 5 hours to get some advil... I wish there was a lower score than 1 This place (and this aint my first rodeo here) Deserves a - - - - - - 1
