Worst hospital stay EVER. Was admitted through transfer for heart rate being low, nurses were literally in and out of the room before you could ask for help half the time, the staff DO NOT communicate with each other well at ALL. Dr swears he ordered a nitro patch, I had no nitro patch, I had a headache so bad and the Drs answer was "I will have them discontinue the nitro patch.", again, THERE WAS NO NITRO PATCH. Told the nurses for damn near FOUR hours I had a headache, EACH time they walked through, did I receive any relief? NOPE! FINALLY, I had ONE nurse who actually talked and listened, told her about the headache, and the lack of nitro patch, and finally got tylenol. Also, not to mention, the cardiologist that was in charge of me gave me a speech about being diabetic and how I need to be "skinny" to get rid of my diabetes. (Ive been diabetic for well over a year, Ive lost 60 pounds in that year, and technically am not diabetic since all my levels are normal now) This was literally the first convo I had with the Dr. I have literally never been made to feel so low, EVER, during ANY of my hospital stays (luckily have had very few). I will NEVER allow myself to be transferred to Byrd, EVER again. Some of the nurses were very kind, but honestly, for the most part, as a patient I felt like an inconvenience. I also wore a heart rate monitor while there and I had informed the staff multiple times that my neck was hurting, Ive been released for over a week now and my shoulder is numb from where I have a nerve pinched from wearing the telemetry unit, again, not once was I offered any help for the soreness in my neck, Im just hoping I can be treated for the loss of feeling in my shoulder. How is this place still open? I wouldnt drag my half dead enemy here.

I went into Byrd Regional Hospital Emeregency Room on a Thursday night, and the ER performed fine besides making me wait in pain for hours before they gave me something for pain. I had a 5mm kidney stone, so I was in serious pain. Well, one doctor decided it was okay to release me and let me contact my doctor the following day, which I agreed with. However, the local urologist, Dr. Frasier, had the ER call and insist I come back to be monitored and have something done about the kidney stone. They admitted me to the hospital and put me on a fast, since I was due for surgery Friday. Well, Dr, Frasier did not make his rounds until 2pm Friday and informed me I could eat because there would be no surgery, because he had to get to the airport. Additionally, the general doctor could have me discharged the next day. I could not believe it, they were keeping me in the hospital for nothing, Plus, the nurse call box was broke in my room and if I pushed the button, it stayed on and the nurses would fuss at me thinking I was repeatly pushing the button when I wasnt. The overall performance of my 2 night staty in this hospital was very poor and I would not even let my dog be admitted there after this experience.

Quite possibly the worst hospital in America. Called ahead of time to notify I was bringin in a patient in serious pain and requested a wheelchair outside. When I got there, there was no wheelchair outside. I filled out all the paperwork required (mind you hes screaming in pain the whole time), we go to the waiting room and hes in too much pain to sit in the wheelchair so he decides to lay on the floor. He laid on the floor ENDLESSLY screaming, as the hospital called back patients who did not seem injured or sick at all. They let this man lay on the floor screaming after plenty of other patients told the staff that he was in severe pain. When I finally got fed up and spoke to someone, they were just completely rude. WORST experience EVER.

Let me just personally say that the Ladies here at Byrd Regional Hospital are awesome. Mrs. Liz was the best!!!! Mrs. Heather so patient and gentle with my lil princess Lia. Mrs. Whitley was simply awesome as she hugged and encouraged my baby girl through this two day ordeal. She almost made me cry with her heart of empathy and patience. Mrs. Katie was simply amazing as usual. She is always super sweet to us. Mrs. Belinda was helpful and kind. Last but definitely not least.....Dr. Minerva Ramirez was so awesome throughout this entire process...two days of labor and helping my baby give natural birth to my grandchild. The first of two grandchildren that I will have. I am so grateful

How is the hospital in network and the doctor is not? Went to the ER which should have been only $100. A month later I get a bill for $1600. Called the hospital and they explained that the doctor was contracted out and was not covered by my insurance but the hospital was. Since my experience I have heard of at least 4 other people have this issue. I went for what I thought was a heart attack which ended up being a gallbladder attack. While I was moaning and crying in extreme pain the nurse had the nerve to ask me if "all that noise was nessasary?" Really?!?! I can not put into words how much I hate this hospital.

My husband went in because I asked him to, he was feeling bad from sinus pressure, sore throat, chest pressure and the male nurse just looked in his mouth and said you have a cold, get rest and fluids. Then the nurse went down the hall and my husband could hear him mocking him for coming in. This is unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. No tests were run he was just turned away being told he has a cold. My husband doesnt go to the doctors often and this is why. Rediculous!

Out of all the hospitals I have been to the last two years, this is by far, the best !! They have run test that never have been run in the last 15 years of my disease. ER crew was awesome, 2nd floor nurses are very caring, knowledgeable, and just awesome!! I have found my hospital.
