In Response to Relas Review: The pet did present for an injury to the paw. A treatment plan and estimate were presented to the owner. Our protocol consists of sedation, radiographs and placement of a splint should the pet need it. The owner consented to this and, indeed the pet had a broken toe. Splint care was also reviewed with the owner to help minimize problems such as the splint slipping, getting wet, odor, etc. Protocol requires that the splint be changed every two weeks to allow cleaning and drying of the splinted site and to evaluate for any problems. Since there was a fracture, the pet is required to be sedated each time to help insure the bones are properly aligned, and make sure that the healing is not undone by an overly active patient. We also want to allow for proper replacement of the splint. Each time a pet returns for a procedure such as this, a surgery consent form is signed as well as a treatment plan which shows estimated costs. This case was no different, and the owner did sign both of these papers. If an owner feels that sedation is not needed, or they dont agree with the treatment plan, they are certainly welcome to visit another veterinary hospital for a second opinion. However, the time to discuss these concerns is before the procedure is done. We always encourage owners to call us at the first sign of any problems. If there was an odor or the pet was in any distress the owner should have contacted us immediately. It should be noted that I was the one to call this owner to remind her of the two week appointment. At no time did she mention a problem, only that she had decided to take her pet elsewhere. We never refuse to speak to our clients and at no time did we refuse to speak with this one. When this owner called (after taking her pet to another hospital) with a question regarding her pets previous visit the veterinarian immediately spoke with her. I am truly sorry that this person had a bad experience, and moreover, Im sorry for the cat and hope hes doing better. He was a cool little guy, and I enjoyed working with him. We love our patients and recognize that they are important parts of your family. I would urge anyone who has a concern about the cost of a procedure or the treatment itself to talk with us about it. Likewise, if there are problems or concerns after a treatment or procedure is performed, call us! We are always willing to answer your questions. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of care and want nothing but the best for your pet.

I brought my cat in because I suspected his toe was broken. The first visit was fine and they confirmed it was broken and bandaged him up. The trouble started at his two week bandage change when I was charged a bunch of money for sedation. For a bandage change? I work in clinic so I know this is unnecessary. I had just moved back to the area and had not yet started my new job yet or I would have taken him there. By week 4 I had already decided to take him somewhere else due to the unnecessary sedation of my cat. I brought him in to my clinic for a bandage change and some xrays to see how the toe was healing. Not only was the toe still completely broken (at this point there should have been at least a bone callous), but on removing the bandage, the skin on his foot was rotting off! The smell was awful and his poor foot was red and swollen. All this clinic did was charge me for unnecessary sedation and give my cat a horrible infection. Mind you, I know how to properly care for a bandage. Ive seen many times in clinic what happens with improper bandage care. However, I am appalled that an improper bandage such as this has cost me so much and is costing my poor cat. Do not go to this clinic. Poor service and they refuse to call me back addressing the issue. They should not be practicing medicine if they cant even get something as simple as a bandage right.

Over the past 8 years, we always have great experiences at Buffalo Alta Animal Hospital. Whenever we bring our dog, Dr. Hammes and Toni are very good with him despite the fact that he is a generally nervous dog, especially at the vet. They are both kind and knowledgeable every time we com in. They were also there for us and very helpful and understanding when one of our dogs passed away. I would highly recommend Buffalo Alta Animal Hospital!

I have been going to this Vet office since 2013 after my vet off Charleston and Buffalo misdiagnosed my cat and fixing her cost me thousands of dollars, the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center even recommend them after fixing my little furball. I am extremely pleased with the way my kittens are treated at this office. They are so caring and they remember little things about my pets and their health and I love that.

This place is god awful. My 6 month old pitbull got kennel cough and broke out in hives from this office. They then tried to deny that it was their fault and wanted to be a smart ass to me about it. My dog is now sick from them. They also wanted to charge a ton of money to fix something that they caused in the first place. Please dont take your animal to this place if you value their health.

Dr. Hammes and Toni have taken excellent care of my dogs for over 10 years now. My dogs are 11 and 14 years old. They have always been caring and supportive taking the time to discuss options of treatment. They always review the costs beforehand and get my dogs in usually with same day appts when a problem arises. Thank you for caring.

Family owned vet hospital. I have been going to them for years. I am a now retired Dog trainer of 43 years. Over the years I have known many veterinarians. I appreciate the knowledge, caring and honesty of Buffalo Alta Animal Hospital. They really care for the pets and their owners. They get my highest praise.

Dr. Hammes went above and beyond to save the life of our beloved yellow lab. He performed intensive surgery to check her stomach and every inch of intestines. Our lab had ate something and had a blockage. We will never be able to thank him enough. Toni is also great! They do truly treat every animal as if their own.

Dr. Hammes has a wonderful way of explaining everything in clear terms, giving options, and being very transparent with pricing. Its clear he knows his stuff and that provides a level of comfort anyone would need in a vet. I can feel confident in his assessments and appreciate the care he takes of my animals.

Dr. Hammes is such a great vet. He is very caring and tender with our fur babies and takes the time to go over treatments with them. Toni is awesome! Our fur babies love her. When no one can hold them (one is really feisty) and he goes to her no problem.

Turned me away while my bunny died in my arms. Vets need to focus on other furry babies too. I will never set foot in there again. The woman in the front needs training. She is horrible with no compassion. Zero stars!
