I walk in, very pleasant lady helped me. Asked me if I ever been here before and if I had insurance. Yes I have been here previously and yes I have insurance PPO, $10 copay.. after the payment cleared and she made a copy of my insurance card 2 minutes later she walks me into the room. Wow this is fast, great so far... 7 minutes go by, a nurse comes to check my vitals, super AWESOME... 50 minutes later... nobody comes... so I still wait... as I wait I go on Google and look up the reviews for the location.. everybody is saying the same thing... so I wait 10 more minutes, nothing... so I am about to leave... tell the lady at the front desk I have been waiting for an hour and this is ridiculous. She said what room are you in. Are you kidding me? She check the board and say your next... give him 15 minutes. I wait 20 minutes and what a SURPRISE... NO DOCTOR... Do not go here ladys and gentlemen, its a waste of time and the staff just going on and on about the phones and who is getting married. How about someone come check on the patients in each room to make sure they are calm an okay. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS AND SO DOES THE TIME YOU WASTE... and what kills me is that ITS NOT EVEN BUSY IN HERE... ITS 3 CARS PARKED OUT FRONT And that includes mine...

Can I give zero stars? First, I will say that for the most part, the nurses and staff were nice. A little brusque at times, but generally nice. BUT Talk about not knowing your a** from your elbow. If you have anything more than a cold, please stay away. I had an ultrasound there for possible gallstones. Got one call back that said it was negative. Two days later got another call back that said I had gallstones. Made another appt. with doctor to discuss results. Got there (and paid another copay) only to be told that they cant find my results. Didnt even have a record of when I was there for the ultrasound. Doctor tells me "yea...I think I remember reviewing them. Heres a number for a surgeon. Make an appointment to get your gallbladder removed.Ill call you tomorrow when we find the results." Umm...OK. NEVER got a call. I called them several times after that and NO ONE ever got back to me. Guess what, cant make an appoint with a surgeon if I dont have lab results! Ever have a gallbladder attack? Its not fun!! You think insurance will pay for another ultrasound. I doubt it.

The staff is very unprofessional I walked in and the 3 women at the desk were so engrossed in their conversation that they didnt notice I was there.. I was given a prescription for mammogram and called back to get the script changed and 48hrs went by no return call.. The next time I needed a script for additional testing they never faxed it.. The findings of the mammogram werent favorable and I needed to have minor surgery.. The doctor never called me to discuss and had one of the women at the desk call and tell me I need to go to a breast surgeon and gave me 2 numbers.. I asked if I needed a referral she said she didnt know.. I asked if the Drs she gave me took my insurance she said she didnt know but if not obviously dont go.. I felt that for a very sensitive matter as this the Dr should have called me to the office to discuss the results and my options.. They are very insensitive and unprofessional but I guess thats what you get for going to a clinic.. The only positives are the office hours and no appointment needed. Get a PCP that will be accountable!

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED AFTER CALLING THE OFFICE AND BEING LIED TO AND BRUSHED OFF FOR A WEEK I FINALLY DECIDED TO STOP BY I FIGURED THEY CANT JUST IGNORE ME IN PERSON. AFTER SITTING THERE FOR HOURS AND BEING IGNORED WHILE DR STEVE STUART RISMAN WALKED BY ME OVER AND OVER WITH SUCH AN ARROGANT DEMEANOR. HE FINALLY STOOD OVER ME AS I SAT IN THE CHAIR WAITING WITH AN INK PEN POINTED IN MY FACE TELLING ME HE WAS NOT GOING TO WRITE MY MEDICAL CLEARANCE LETTER FOR A PROCEDURE IM HAVING IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOLD HIM I FEALT THREATENED. THE LOOK ON HIS FACE WAS NOTHING YOUD EXPECT FROM A PROFESSIONAL IN HIS FIELD. I MUST HAVE REALLY GOTTEN UNDER HIS SKIN. I TOLD HIM I WOULD WAIT THERE UNTIL HE WAS AVAILABLE TO WRITE THE MC NO HARM IN THAT I FIGURED. HE CALLED THE POLICE AND HAD ME ESCORTED OUT OF THE BUILDING. THE POLICE OFFICER WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING AND SUGGESTED A FEW WAYS TO BETTER THE SITUATION BUT NONE THE LESS I NEVER FELT SO DEFEATED AND DISREPECTED. DEFINITELY TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE

Takes forever and mistreats you. So about a month ago I was feeling sick. I had a bad cough and I almost couldnt breathe. My family practice was busy so I was forced to go here. Ive been here before, but this is the worst time I had. So they took me into a room, and I sat down. They tested me for strep throat and they said the results came back positive. So they put me on Amoxicillin Suspension, the liquid form of Amoxicillin. I took it for ten days, and I noticed I only got a little bit better. So I made an appointment with my family practice physician and went in. I sat down, she tested me for strep throat, (by the way this is at Martinsville Family Practice) and she said that I NEVER HAD STREP THROAT AND THAT IS WAS ONLY BAD ALLERGIES. Ive gone to that Doctor since I was born and I know she was completely right. To this day on I WILL NEVER go back to Family Care ever again.

Based upon a family members experience, dont go there. As I understand it, part of the role of a General Practitioner is to refer you to a specialist when there is a problem that they cant cope with. Not this place. Multiple blood counts out of range, one "critically high". No explanation, no problem, just "come back in 3 weeks". The proper recommendation would have been "you have a serious problem, go see this hematologist". Severe back pain for months and months. No problem, just more of the same next month, rather than "you need to see this spine and back specialist". I could go on, but this is long enough and this story did not have a happy ending. I have no idea if this is typical of clinics or not. In any case, dont let the friendly smile fool you, be smart and understand everything you can about your condition, otherwise you cast your fate to the wind.

I have been there several times and like the friendliness of the front desk in contrast to Medemerge (who is awful with customer service). Dr. Joe diagnosed my gall stones which have been misdiagnosed for several years to be acid reflux. I first went to Medemerge 6 years ago with my second attack and they said it was acid reflux without doing the proper test. Dr. Joe is always very thorough, presents different options with treatment and is personable. He ordered a sonogram for me and referred me to a very good surgeon. My sons and husband go there when we cant get in to see our primary. I highly recommend Family Care over Medemerge or the emergency room.
