Lets start this off with I work at a vet hospital but my sisters dogs dont go there. So in July my sisters dog look like she had a UTI and they took her in and the doctor confirmed but yet gave her the wrong dosage on the medication so the UTI got worse and became bladder stones but what bothered me is that I went to take her to get an X-ray before we confirmed it was stones and the doctor there was uncertain if it was stones or a tumor. I saw the X-rays myself and it clearly look like stones but no she wanted me to pay an additional $180 to get a specialist to confirm. Im sorry but youre a doctor you went to school for this you should know. I later on had to rush my sisters dog to GSVS because it was stones and my sisters dog did not stop vomiting after an hour leaving Banfield because she was blocked and the doctor at Banfield didnt want to tell me that and apparently it showed in the X-rays. Thank god for Garden State Vet. Another thing the Staff are so rude. Today I tried refilling Apoquel for Abby so I can pick it up tomorrow the guy said "you know its 5:58pm?" Okay you guys close at 7pm and Im just calling ahead to have it ready for tomorrow. He gets upset, gets my info to 1 of the refills and I didnt even get to finish he hangs up on me!!

I have been bringing my dogs to Banfield for over 1 1/2 years. When my puppy, Star, was found to have chronic kidney failure, Dr. H and the rest of the staff were wonderful with her. Nothing was done without discussing it with me first. Dr. H was wonderful with call backs and even when Star was kept overnight, Dr H checked on her regularly, even coming in on her day off. Today, Star had to be put to sleep, Dr. H came in on her day off to be with her for the procedure. Heather, someone who loved Star and who loved her back, came in on her day off, a hours ride, to be with her. Lindsay, Heather and Dr. H all stayed in the room with me and Star. Marlena, Lisa, the entire staff, WONDERFUL!! I have 4 other dogs at home, we will continue to go to Banfield!

They dont know how to handle cats. Im accustomed to paying for sedation but all of a sudden they cam out with another $100+ to monitor her heart rate. I told them I will not pay that extra just so they can do what theyre supposed to with a cat under sedation and they better do their job like theyre supposed to! I switched to the Petsmart in Edison and they dont know how to properly handle cats there either. Im cancelling the plans for all 4 cats! Their waiting area is full of loud dogs which aggravates my cats. They always want to take the cats "in the back" for everything but I refuse. Youre going to do everything in front of me.

Overall I am not impressed. We have a new sugar glider who developed a severe sinus infection. Banfield made us wait several days for an appt, then we had to wait over FOUR HOURS to see the vet. The vet did not have much experience with the sugar glider and I dont believe prescribed the right medicine. Our glider then developed an ear infection and lost its ear flap as a complication. We had to go to Red Bank Animal Hospital, where they were much more familiar and treated our glider to recovery. If our glider had received more timely and better care, I dont believe he would have gotten so much sicker.

The coporation has placed stricter rules on Banfield, as a result, most of the old staff has left. Now there seem to be over crowded, under staffed. Not enough seating area. Over an hour wait with an appt. The doctors seem to try to "upsell" you. I was there with a friend whos dog had an ear infection. The vet said "let me show you how to clean his ears" then charged him for an ear cleaning. They almost tried it on me today, but I said no, not if you are going to charge me! This was my last visit to them. ps I was given medication for $45.00. I found it online for $19.00

Doctors are more like salespeople, they try to sell you everything they can, even things they know your pet doesnt need. I just keep the wellness plan for regular checkups and emergencies, but I have a holistic vet on the side that works on my pets main issues like diet and so forth. As with ALL conventional medicine (including for humans) please be careful about what you let them do (and prescribe), its usually founded on the size of your wallet, not the size of your need.

It should be less I was let is 5 min early by staff I was the second person in line with the family pet that has insurance with the wachung one. In retrospect I should went there. But @ 8:55 with heat stroked animal they let in 7 animals b4 him and I have to wait till the owner showed cause they were not planing to let me in a room 9:45 I got a room on on que to wait another hour if lucky. If HE DIES IT ON THERE HEADS CAUSE ALL THEY WANT IS THE MONEY.

The vets there are good and they are all kind to the animals but the front desk staff ignores faxes they receive for RX requests from pet pharmacies. Its so very annoying. I dont understand why I have to call Banfield to get them to respond to the pet pharmacys fax. The pharmacy informed me that they faxed a request to Banfield EVERYDAY for the past week with no response. My dog could drop dead waiting for her medicine. Totally ridiculous.

Listen to the reviews. This place is terrible. Dont make an appt, youll wait hrs anyway. Theyll just try to sell you everything. Docs arent friendly. If you have a cat, then DEF dont go here. Yes theres tons of loud barking dogs everywhere. Doc told me my cat needed nausea food, another vet SHOWED me it was cancer. Great job guys lol. Dont bother will that wellness plan either..its a sham. Trust me...go somewhere else.

Been paying there plan for a year. They said they will call me to reschedule since there doc was too rude. Never did . Those docs dont know what there doing and Clearly didnt finish giving the shots to my dogs. Cant stand this place and company. Friendly people at the front though. Big thumbs down !

Ive been waiting here for over an hour now and not once has anyone come to let me know how much longer my wait will be. I was a vet tech a long time ago and never would have let my clients wait for so long without notifying them of a delay. Im not impressed with the service either.

I stopped going since my visits became where they would take my dog in the back and bring her back after they did whatever, I wasnt able to witness anything and that threw me off. I have a hard time trusting companies and only can go by their word that they did anything.

It has been 45 minutes since my appointment and they took two people before me- one who was late to her appt and one who did not have an appointment. Unbelievably long wait given 30 dollar monthly payments for one dog. Needless to say I will be cancelling after today.
