This is a tough review to write, and I feel awful disagreeing with other reviewers who clearly had good experiences, but I did not. I was not remotely impressed by the veterinarian who helped me, and it reflected very poorly on the entire establishment. First, the positives: the general staff are wonderful, friendly, and clearly very caring of the animals! The facilities were clean, and things were kept organized. As youd expect, given the other reviews here! Now, the negatives. Dr. Gandara was unaware of major food brands beyond her favored three -- Purina, Royal Canin, and Science Diet. My family is one of pet nutritionists, and vet techs; were fortunate enough to know how these particular three brands offer kickbacks to vets who promote their products. I felt hounded to change my pets diet, despite the fact that I feed them Halo wet food (grain free and, in general, very well respected). That said, this by itself is fine -- different vets have always counseled different nutrition, and I take it in stride. After all, my own preferences doubtless seem bizarre to some! Then Dr. Gandara proceeded to get a booster shot for my kitten. She injected him in the paw -- itself an utterly bizarre choice I have NEVER seen before, but, okay. Then she tried to force the plunger when it clearly wasnt depressing, and my kitten starting howling -- again, something that you NEVER see with injections. Cats stay silent unless its BAD. Dr. Gandara proceeded to shove the needle around looking for an injection site, instead of pulling out and resetting at a different location. I had a clear view: she was rough and seemingly uncaring. SPURTS of blood literally pooled on the table. My kitten had to be bandaged. The response? "Oh, we got a gusher!" No apology, no recognition that she had seriously screwed up. It was heartbreaking. I got out of there as quickly as was polite, and do not intend to return. Its quite possible the other vets at St. Francis are in a different league, and if so, wonderful! But Dr. Gandaras actions reflected very poorly on the whole place. They lost a pet family today.

Dr. Cooper and his entire staff are wonderful. They go above and beyond to be sure our dog gets fantastic care. After surgery, our dog had some issues a few nights later. Rather than making us go to the animal ER or wait until the next day, Dr. Cooper stayed late and took care of him right away. They have worked with us to manage a whole host of medical issues our sweet dog has, and have done so with skill and kindness. I feel like our dog gets better medical care than the rest of the family! I cant recommend them more highly.

Twenty years ago we brought a swallow to Dr. Cooper. Yes-- a found bird. My girls were young and all they knew was that Dr Cooper would help out the baby bird as much as he did with our other, more domesticated pets. We have tried other vets who were closer to us. We come back to St. Francis with regret that we ever strayed. This is a place with a big heart and a deep knowledge for your beloved four-legged creatures. And your young kids an learn a lot from this practice too, just by by being there.

I could not be more pleased with the service we received at St. Francis. When our 18 year old English Shepard - Moose - went into a sharp decline on a Saturday, the staff was very responsive and caring. They gave us Dr. Coopers cell phone number right away -- he rearranged his schedule to meet us at home the same afternoon. He explained the whole process to us and answered all our questions with care and compassion. He and his team took care of everything for us. I recommend them very highly!

I cannot say enough about everybody at St. Francis. They have cared for our dog for as long as I can remember and he is almost 17 years old. I trust them with any decision that needs to be done to take care of our dog. Even with their move in recent years to the new location, we still drive 20 minutes from our house because we know that we are going to get the care that we have come to expect. If you trust the care of your pets to St. Francis you will not be disappointed.

Dr. Cooper and his staff have cared for our animals for many, many years. Everyone in the office as always been kind, professional, and attentive to not only our beloved pets, but us humans too!! Dr. Cooper displays true interest in our pets health, hes very open and receptive to questions, and goes the extra mile to do what is in best interests of all concerned parties. Our entire family as designated St. Francis Hospital for Animals our "go to vet"!!

In fact, he has surrounded himself with excellent people, which shows what type of person Dr. Cooper is- genuine and caring. He is available for emergencies and his staff is committed to caring and saving my dogs when a problem arrives. I encourage everyone, if you have a dog bring your dog to St. Francis.

My best friend and I had a wonderful experience at St. Francis yesterday. It was our first time so we were a little nervous. ALL of the staff were so kind, caring and knowledgeable. The vet was amazing. I felt right at home and learned so much. Plus the prices were very reasonable. You can tell they really care about the animals. We will NEVER go anywhere else.

my 2 pups have been with dr. cooper and his staff since we moved to charlotte in 2011. we love them so much so that when we moved almost 30 min north of them (previously we lived around the corner) we still went to him. and even though they moved buildings adding another 10 mins to the drive i still havent/wont change vets! they care and are very caring.

Dr. Cooper , Dr. Woodall and the staff here are simply amazing. They treat you and your pets like family and we could not be happier with the care and treatment we have received. We also board our cats here and always feel like they get the best possible attention and love. I cannot recommend them enough!

Ive been taking my dogs to St Francis for over 20 years. Bill Cooper and his crew are, without a doubt, the best in town. Both of my Basenjis, Nicholas, may he rest in peace, and Loretta, get excited when we drive up to the door. The staff is caring and very responsive. You cant go wrong with St Francis.
