Dr. Crane attempted to remove a squamous cell from my fathers jaw approximately 1 year ago. My father had 2 other similar cells removed without a problem by a Dr. in Raleigh previously. Needless to say, my fathers area on the jaw where the procedure took place did not heal. He returned on approximately 9 occasions over a period of months to see Dr. Crane and his staff. They initially said it would take time. As months continued to pass with no improvement (and A LOT of pain), Dr. Crane and his staff were unsure of what was occurring at each appointment. They finally referred him to seek a plastic surgeon to look at the wound. The plastic surgeon was the FIRST doctor to suggest another biopsy of the area. The biopsy showed that the cancer was still in the wound, which was why the area would not heal. We have since moved his care to the doctors at UNC Chapel Hill, where the doctors are continually surprised that it took as long as it did for a doctor to suggest another biopsy. Ironically, I was telling a Wilmington friend about my fathers experience and he said "was it Dr. Crane??". His wife had apparently had a spot on her leg removed but had to end up going to another dermatologist to have it addressed again. My father went to Dr. Crane because he saw advertisements on TV and billboards. If you need a dermatologist, ask your primary care physician for a referral.

The office manager refused to see me without my full social security number. I offered to pay cash, pre-pay, make a large deposit, file my own insurance, etc...People like this are the reason identity theft is so rampant...she was a complete B***** and pretty ugly too haha. They already had my driver license number and a copy of it, my insurance card number and a copy of it, my birthdate, full name, etc... Requiring your SS number to receive medical care should be illegal if it is not already. I wonder what they would say if I was an illegal immigrant? I would probably be seen immediately without any questions. So anyway, I caved because I did not want to waste time going to another doctor. The doctors were nice but were unable to diagnose my problem. I was given a prescription for a steroid and told to come back in a month for a biopsy if the problem persisted. I WAS in an out quickly though, virtually no wait time in the waiting room or the exam room.

Several issues over a period of 3 years including: identification and removal of pre-cancerous skin areas, discriminating rosacea from pre-cancerous areas then providing proper topical treatment, and correctly identifying a basal cell carcinoma location then surgically removing same, have been handled professionally and timely. Im very pleased to have the choice of several locations making it easy to obtain a timely appointment now that Dr. Cranes practice has grown and is now known as DermOne. Im also impressed that physicians finishing their residencies are supported by DermOne and that DermOne is assessed as a qualifying practice for them to gain practical experience. Im always asked before a resident is included into the exam room. If it takes a few extra minutes to support these residents and have an built in second opinion, it is worth the time and beneficial on several levels.

I have been going to Atlantic Dermatology and now DermOne for about 16 years now and my daughter also has been seen several times at DermOne. Almost all of my visits have been with Dr. Crane. I can easily say that I have never had a negative or unpleasant experience with anyone at DermOne. Dr. Crane is always pleasant, professional, and knows his stuff. The office staff have always been professional and pleasant at every visit. I have never been asked to pay anything before being seen and I also typically leave social security number space blank at doctors offices. I have never been questioned about it by anyone. Finally, lab work or test results have always been available when I was told they would be. No problem. I recommend this dermatology practice.

I started going here 1 year ago when my acne started flaring up for the time in my life in my 20s. At first, they were okay with scheduling me and getting me in on time. But, over the past 6 months, I have had the worst experience at a medical center that I have ever had before. They are constantly changing my appointments because my physician is sick/on vacation/ or has been fired-quit. I am on Accutane, which to be on the medication you need blood work done every month. EVERY MONTH THEY EITHER LOSE MY BLOODWORK OR CANT FIND IT UNTIL THE LAST MOMENT. How do you lose something you have taken out of my body??? They have caused me more stress than needed and are always recomending the most expensive products that arent covered my insurance. Good luck.

Went for annual visit/treatment if necessary. Someone came in to take my vitals and have me undress. It was freezing. No Dr Crane for 20 minutes, so stuck my head out the door and finally someone in the office administration area saw me and told me Dr Crane had a difficult patient. He came in 10 minutes later, sat down and tried to sell me product. He tried to do that the last time I saw him and told him I wasnt interested. Meanwhile, the day I saw him, was still recuperating from viral laryngitis and waiting in the cold room made me ill again. Have reported it to Medicare and Keypoint. Hes a quack and thankfully have found a good dermatologist (where I learned many other patients had had similar complaints about Dr Crane).

I went there for a consultation on a few procedures. Wait time was very long ! Prices were way higher than I expected after researching how much each procedure should cost. With some weird comments from Dr. Johnathon Crane and rush rush ,rushing me along . (and I do not ask many questions as it is), I had a mole removed from my face , with no previous explaining of the procedure in any real detail. No relaxing atmosphere..:( :( Kinda scary actually! $ 350.00 !! later, which was WAY higher than I was quoted over the phone, (150.00).. I will not be going back there any time soon unless I have a scar or something bad from his mole removal for COMPENSATION! The office women were very nice . But thats about it! :( :(

Worst New Patient experience I have ever had. Front desk staff was so unprofessional/ rude I will not be returning for my follow up appointment. When checking out with the same person who checked me in the lady was making my follow up appointment with me as I was writing down my appointment on my planner she stated "can you move out of the way I am starting to form a line". She did NOT say that I was done checking out or that I was to pay anything for my visit today or anything at all. I work in a doctors office and I have the same job position as than her in my office. There is no reason to treat me with no respect as a paying patient in the office. I will not be returning to that office.

I am a long time patient. I noticed a mole had changed appearance and color so I called for an appointment. Was really rudely treated and was told I could not be seen until sometime in November. However, I could call every day to see if there was a cancellation. When asked could I not be called when there was a cancellation, I was told no. I called another dermatologist (who I had been seeing for cosmetic services and they got m in the next day. I signed papers with the new office to transfer my medical records.
