The staff and doctors here are very caring and professional and always ready to help. When there is an issue with your pet and there are different treatment options, you all options are explained thoroughly and then let you make decisions. Questions are happily answered.Ive been coming here for many years. There are quite a number of doctors with varying degrees of specialties. You will need to inquire who would best fit the needs of your pet...be it a dog, cat, bird, reptile, etc. Yes, you may pay a bit more, but this facility provides its own staff members for after-hours emergency care and they treat at their facility. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Letosky, Dr. Haddad, Dr. Lamb, Dr. Dodson and Dr. Krupka. Just one example of dedication and skill.. Dr. Krupka came to my dog Millies rescue at 1:00am ...she was 4 months old (now 3 years) and her small intestine had tunneled back into her large intestine and had blocked-she could have died if this wasnt taken care of. A call was made to their emergency number and Dr. Krupka, who was on call that night, met me at the office..testing was done and the problem found..immediate surgery was needed.. and it was performed successfully right then and there.. in the middle of the night! She is now a thriving 3-year old..and would not have made it if not for Dr. Krupka and his technical staff. Had I been at another clinic without in-house emergency care, I would have had to go to a foreign emergency facility where I didnt know the docs or staff. They also have people who stay overnight and monitor the animals who are sick there. You have the peace of mind that your "children" are watched over during the night and someone would be there in case a problem would come up that needed immediate attention. Many facilities leave and close the door at the end of the day..not returning until morning...and the animals are left all alone. I know some cant afford their higher prices, and some procedures could be done at other qualified vet offices. I just have always had a good experience here and appreciate all the care my animals have received over the years. And if you want a great doggy day-care or vacation stay for your pets , PAWS on the Lake, which is affiliated with ALAC, is a great place for any kind of pet you may have.

I really cant sing enough praises about Avon Lake Animal Clinic. My experiences here have always been top notch. From the time you walk in, the reception staff is very nice, but they also went the extra effort to create dedicated waiting area based on animal type (dog side and cat/small pet side)--of course, you cant control where clients sit, but for the most part, people read the signs. When your pet is already stressed out, introducing other strange species to the situation is overwhelming, so this arrangement is perfect. Their rooms are clean and well-designed and staff is efficient. Their staff is very robust, with several veterinarians and technicians specializing in different areas, but eager to see any pet. They do a thorough exam of each patient and, in my experience, always annotate their records as they go, which is awesome. Staff and doctors listen to you in your concerns and help you address anything you need, from vaccine recommendations, to illnesses/symptoms/treatment plans. They are very clever in their treatment plans, too. No one has ever jumped to shove a medication on me, they always look at all angles. And, if you have a concern that you arent sure warrants a visit, you can leave a voicemail for the doctor and the doctor calls you back (this is amazing, I love being able to talk to my pets doctor -or their assistant- and not just a messenger). Lastly, just to show how far they go to keep your experience smooth and your pets emotions at bay, they process payment right in the room with you. This sounds like a weird thing to notice, but so many other places Ive been, Ive been fighting my pet from exploring or sniffing other pets while checking out (God forbid an accident happen while Im trying to sign a receipt), so this simple gesture to get you all set before you leave your room is awesome. Top notch vet, every aspect has been thought out and they really give amazing service.

I have been taking my pets to Avon Lake Animal Clinic for around 15 years. The facility is always clean, staff always welcoming, and the veterinarians are extremely knowledgeable and caring. I personally prefer to take all of my pets to Dr. Frank Krupka. This is partially because he is a speciality vet, and I have ferrets, reptiles, cats, and a bird. The other part has to do with his knowledge, sincere consideration to my pet-familys well-being, and the fact that he does everything possible to avoid over charging me thanks to his understanding of home remedies. He also is very involved in the community teaching folks proper animal care and upkeep, and helps local shelters often which I respect a great deal. I have also seen Dr. Lamb and Dr. ODonnell before (due to needing immediate care); they too were considerate and knowledgable for my cat and past dog needs. I especially love the receptionist named Jessica. She has been there since I started visiting and always has a friendly smile/remark about my pets. While the prices are higher than some other locations, the care and high quality surgery they provide makes up for it. I have called on the weekends, late at night, and during the holidays for random emergencies or severe worries and they always attempt to get me information as quickly as possible. I have recommended this place to all family and friends, they too are happy with their visits. I 100% recommend Avon Lake Animal Clinic for all your needs, or at the very least the surgeries or tougher diagnoses.

Weve been clients for 14 years. Weve taken our own pets there as well as some of the many foster animals weve helped ov our the years. Literally weve spent around $10k there. Anyway recently we were fostering a mommy cat and her newborn litter. One of the newborns was struggling and was smaller than the rest. I called the clinic for some advice. I just wanted to know if I was feeding the kitten enough and taking care of it like I should be or if there was something else I could be doing to help the kitten survive. The receptionist was very rude. And Dr. Petit refused to speak with me or even have the receptionist relay any advice to me at all. She didnt ask any questions (like what are you feeding the kitten and how much). Dr. Petit had no interest in helping me and I was told that I would need to bring the kitten in. I found this very disappointing and very indicative of a lack of concern for the kitten and for a very longstanding client. I hung up the phone feeling as much if her only real concern was money. If I came in and paid $100.00 then she would help me with the kitten. Otherwise we were on our own. Sadly the kitten died the next day.

We have previously been happy with the Avon Lake Animal Clinic, but will now be looking for a new place to take our pet. She acquired kennel cough while being treated there. When I called them at 8:30 am they said they would leave a message for the vet and would get us some medicine. She was coughing so hard she was throwing up stomach acid and struggling to breathe. When I did not hear back from them by 11. I called them and the receptionists said they were just too busy today to get to their messages and I could bring her to their emergency room visit. I told them I wasnt paying for an emergency visit when I just needed the vet to give me a prescription and if he had time to see me in the emergency room then he certainly had time to read the messages. It took them until 3:00 to get her some medicine. They left her suffer for a whole day and exposed her to kennel cough. A sad and expensive experience.
