I wish I could be posting a positive review but there is nothing positive with this story. My two year old female cat Babes had a anal prolapse and needed immediate attention. This happened on a Friday night into Saturday leaving only a limited selection of veterinarians in the area. The initial visit was fast and polite. While Babes seemed to be okay after the procedure in single stitch they put in place for the cost of $700.00+ ( the bill originally started at $1320.00) which only lasted until Sunday. Monday morning I had to return with the cat to have a second surgery done for $250.00. The vet felt that I had not kept the protective collar on the cat and the single stitch was popped by the cat. Which there was no way to tell and was debatable at best. I explained my side but it seems they they did not care or ignored my statements. Babe then undergoes the second surgery like a champ and is okay for a week. The second set of stitches does not hold and for the third time. Obviously at this point with medications, monitored feeding and the collar that was never removed how could this happen? Again back to the same vet for immediate surgery this time a procedure that was supposed to be more extensive to hold in her intestines, $640.00 ( ironically maxing out the Care Credit line I had). I again have a discussion with the Vet and the Office manager and express my dissatisfaction with the two previous outcomes. She has me sign a letter basically stating they do not guarantee anything and the directions I have followed all along. Less than 72 hours later I find Babes in a bloody mess with a large portion of her "guts" hanging out her rear end, puddles of blood on the floor, her bedding ect.. My heart broke, she tries to walk to me collapses and crawls to me only a few feet away. I was hit by a truck of emotions. I wrapped her in a towel and made her comfortable as I could. I know she is on her way out there was too much blood lost and damage to her intestines. The emergency vet tells me even if I paid for the surgery ($2000-$3000) she felt that Babes would not make it through the surgery and that it may not work even if Babes made it. I had to make that hard choice of putting her to sleep. Whether it was a lack of skill when it came to the surgery or there was more of an issue than was missed by Veterinarians. I feel that it was more about money than a guarantee of work. I did get a call from the Vet and a apology after they found out that Babes was put to sleep. However apologies to not replace a wonderful pet, remove the pain and suffering of my Babes, my memories of this event or the debit incurred in trying to save her life. Boyette Animal Hospital does not stand behind their work or take responsibly for their actions. When your pet is in pain and you are at a emotional point where you will do anything to save them it is too easy to sign that line of credit. I highly suggest going somewhere else that will stand behind their work and or truly solve the issue. ** Two photos have been included, the second is of the "issue" and should not be viewed by sensitive pet owners or children.

Sadly, I cant fully recommend Boyette AH. We have visited this practice for nearly 20 years (back when it was Dr. Bobs and in the Winn Dixie strip mall!) but the service has not been great, in my opinion. After I moved back to Tampa in 2012, I immediately took my dog back to the "family vet" once he started scratching his ears. They prescribed ear drops, which cleared it up temporarily. A month later it was back, so I took my dog back. Same drops. Two months after that I moved to Lutz and took my dog to a different vet. It was a staph infection in his ears! After a month of steroids and antibiotics, he was finally infection free and comfortable! Now we are experiencing the same thing this summer. My dog stays with my dad (my dads #1 companion) and Boyette AH is local. Recently his paw started turning rust colored and he was biting, heavily at it. My dad took our dog in and they bandaged it, and sent him home with a powder. They re-bandaged it every 3 days for 2 weeks. It cleared up. A month later, it was back! I took my dog to the new AH, the one that correctly diagnosed his ears, and it was a fungal infection in his feet! Twice Boyette has caused my dog additional pain/suffering. I dont believe this was due to negligence, so much as being cautious as to the costs of the the lab tests to verify the bacteria/fungus are pricey and they were trying to same us some money. However, I have told them more than once my dog is insured, so whatever he needs the cost is unimportant. In the future, I will unfortunately be hiking my puppers from my dads house to the new vet nearly an hour away to get the right diagnosis, the first time.

We were referred to Boyette Animal Hospital a couple months back by our vet in Spring Hill as my daughter who lives in Riverview had a cat that was 15 and although he had always been an inside one he was having some health issues. She had him since he was a kitten and was very attached to him as we all were. They took x rays and found some big tumor growths around his intestine area which were causing the problems. Unfortunately due to his age they could not operate. The staff there was "VERY CARING" and did all they could with medication etc, for his problems to keep him as comfortable as possible during his remaining time he had left. When it was time for him to go they were "EXTREMELY NICE" and gave my daughter all the time she needed with him to say her final good by which was very tough for her. After that part was over they even had a small casket like box to put him in so she could take him out with "dignity" when she left. Then about a week ago she got a "sympathy card" from them as well. I cant say enough about the outstanding "QUALITY & CARING" of all the staff at Boyette Animal Hospital !!!!! I would "RECOMMEND" them to anyone who needs a veterinary clinic for their pet. They are a FIRST CLASS FACILITY !!!!! To ALL the staff at Boyette Hospital: THANK YOU FROM THE CASTORINOS !!!!!

This was one of the most horrible experiences I ever had with a vet clinic. We are new to the area and someone recommended this place, so I made an appointment and told the receptionist that I will have limited time due to only having an hour for my lunch break. After being there for 45 minutes still waiting in a lobby one of the associates came out and advised that the doctor we were assigned to see has taking lunch. I got a feeling those people have no regards to other peoples time. When I tried to reschedule the receptions was also rude and short in her answer trying to make me wait longer. The vibe I received from this experience is that they are the only people who have jobs and others really dont matter cause they need to take lunches. They have no respect for their clients TIME. Being in a medical field does not make you superior, you are still here to serve people, and some offices just fail to do just that. If you are looking for a quick professional quality service for your pet this might not be an option for you, a busy person with a job, kids, dogs and a house full of chores will be just wasting time trying to get an appointment there. It looked like the average appointment time there will be up to 2 hours.
