I have to wonder if the lousy review has been left on the wrong site! My experience has been nothing but excellent. On the stellar recommendations of neighbors, I came to Howell Ave. Pet Hospital prior to and within a week of picking up my 15 week old Shih Tzu pup, TinkerToy, who will be a year old in 2 months [October]. I went here to finish his shot series, worming, etc., and will return for spaying, at which time he will be microchipped. They have always been willing to take the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. As with any doctor, emergencies rightly intrude on appt.s, but mine have been timely. They have been gracious whenever I have been a few minutes late. I am also able to get in rapidly when I call for an appt. They saw Tinker within an hour of my phone call about an eye infection just last Friday. They took us to an exam room as soon as we arrived, where a vet tech weighed him [10 #s], took his temperature, examined his eyes, ears, skin, etc., and trimmed his nails (at my request). After an eye exam by Dr. McCarty (including eye stain), we were sent home with drops and pills for infection, as well as pain medication. *ALL* were already cut into halves or quarters, for my ease of administration. Both the doctor AND an asst. reiterated dosage instructions, and I will be taking him back for follow-up tomorrow (Tues.). BTW, Tink began acting like himself again the morning following his appt., letting me know he was feeling much better. A good friend has cats, and her care has been equally wonderful. If you are looking for a vet, you wont find better ----------------- This comment is from a "Shih Tzu mom" for 45 years now, who has lived in multiple cities (including NYC), with multiple dogs.

Most unprofessional experience EVER. Waited for 20 mins in the lobby after our scheduled appt time. 40 mins after scheduled appt time, the vet finally enters, looking completely disheveled, unorganized, and uncaring. After receiving a 10 minute lecture about neutering my dog (hes 8 yrs old and will never be neutered), she proceeded to take my dog from the room to examine him. They were gone less than 5 minutes - definitely not enough time for a thorough exam (he did get his nails clipped in that time.) After finally finishing (70 minutes after scheduled appt time), I pay in cash. The receptionist hands me a receipt and says, have a nice day!. I literally had to ask for my change back. A complete disaster of an establishment masquerading as a vets office. No professionalism whatsoever. Obviously this establishment is understaffed and overbooked. If you do not care about your pets or the care they receive, please patronize this place. If you do care about your pets, please FIND A BETTER VET.

I am convinced there is no better vet than Dr. McCarty. She is incredibly knowledgeable and shares it with her patients owners. She really listens to your concerns and addresses them. She clearly adores your pets which is a number one concern for me. Her entire team is equally wonderful and supportive. I really cannot say enough in support of Howell Ave. Pet Hospital. I currently own one pure bred dog and five cats, only three of the five cats go outside. She treats the cats accordingly. I am about to rescue a mixed breed dog and needed advice on integrated an older dog with cats. Again the staff was supportive and helpful. Im older so in my lifetime Ive had seven other veterinary experiences. I didnt leave them because I didnt like them. It was mostly circumstantial. I followed Dr. McCarty from a previous vet hospital. I mention the other vets only to confirm Ive had plenty of other relatively long term vet experiences. Howell Ave Pet Hospital is the absolute best!

We moved to Cincinnati in August, and shortly after one of our dogs came down with a stomach bug. In a hurry to find somewhere to take her, I saw the reviews for Howell Animal Hospital. Im so glad we did. Not long after, we began a quick but painful road that ended in us having to put our dog to sleep. Everyone here was kind, accommodating, and never annoyed with my near daily phone calls with new questions about my dog. They did everything they could for her and when there was nothing else for them to do, they referred us to the specialist who could best help. I can not recommend this place enough and I know we will continue taking our remaining dog here for regular care.

This facility never fails to provide my cat the best care possible. Ive brought her in for a variety of reasons, and the front desk, the vet techs, and the vet are all extremely friendly and always knowledgeable about the types of care and procedures they offer. I also appreciate how they never tack on additional prices without consulting me first, so I know exactly how much Im going to owe before I leave. Each time Ive come in, Ive called in the morning to schedule an appointment and they scheduled me in the same day. I am so appreciative that they are right in the area. I will never ever take Ginger anywhere else! Thank you so much for all the amazing care you provide!

If you care about your pet, this is the ONLY place to go! My pets began going to Dr McCarty in 2001 before she opened Howell Avenue Pet Hospital. She has done major surgery on one pet. Another pet had an allergic reaction and I remember her calling me at home twice on a Sunday evening to check on him. Thats not service, thats family! In 2007 I was forced to relocate due to my job. Since then, other vets have faced a challenge because she has set the bar and my expectations so high!

My wife and I have brought several pets (cats and dog) with various ailments to Dr. McCarty at Howell Ave Pet Hospital and consistently felt our pets were given superior care and we received compassionate and considerate advice. We move with some frequency so have experienced a lot of veterinary offices and Dr McCarty and her staff are a group we are happy to recommend.

Everyone here was very welcoming and took good care of our cat. They gave her the pill she needed and applied the first dose of flea medication for us. One star off because the tech suggested we not do the fecal test to save money, but it was done and on the bill anyway. Otherwise great experience and we will be going back!

I have taken my pets to Dr. McCarty for over fifteen years. My pets receive the best care and the staff at Howell Ave are the best. So helpful, friendly and transparent, they really care about us. So lucky to have a reliable clinic that I trust. Cant recommend this practice enough!

Dog got 12 teeth pulled from this location. Cost seemed reasonable and staff was extremely kind and caring. Clean facility. Professional staff. Ample parking with a pet store next door. Great neighborhood location and my dog is still alive. What more can you ask for?

This place seems good. They checked out our cat and hes doing much better. It turns out he probably ran into a wall causing his pupil to reverse dilate. They gave us some eye drops and he is back to normal. The price was reasonable as well. I would go again.
