I just moved back to Mentor and was in search of a new veterinarian for our 3 boys (dogs). Im that dog owner who treats her dogs like children! They are THAT important to me. I did a lot of research and actually received a recommendation from a very good friend to take our boys here. We needed shots/exams for 2 of the boys. FROM THE MOMENT we walked in, there was nothing but negative energy and no personalization..not to mention after the doctor did the shots for our Shepherd (she took him in another room) SHE NEVER CAME BACK! The vet tech brought our dog back into the room and we were told we were good to go. Now mind you, we are new patients...No one ever said how the exam was..the doctor never even spent any time getting to know the dogs for a minute or even asking US any questions before she started giving her exam. When the vet tech brought our one dog back into the room we were in, he ended up snapping at her (she tried to wipe his behind, because he excreted his anal glands in the other room) She had this nasty look of disgust on her face and was quite simply acting like a b****! When we left the room and I went to go pay for our visit, I told the lady at the front counter that I didnt know the doctor was not coming back into the room and I wanted to know how the exams went and so forth. They brought the doctor up front and I was able to talk to her and then right before we were getting ready to leave, this lady comes in with her dog...the dog owner comes up to my dog and and sticks her hand out...as to pet him. Well, my 113 pound Shepherd is protective (as Shepherds are) and he snapped at her. You should have seen the look on everyones face. We took our dogs out to the car and I came back in to finish paying, I apologized to the lady at the front desk, and by that time they had the lady that came in with her dog in another room, but then I said, "you dont stick your hand in a dogs face that you dont know." And then Im thinking to myself that ANY dog owner knows THAT. The look and attitude on the face of the lady at the front counter was as if WE were the bad guys. There was not ONE good thing about our visit and needless to say my boys and I WILL NEVER be back.

I have used Mentor Animal Hospital for years. Dr. McLaren is the only vet in the area who sees rabbits, and she is very knowledgeable. And Dr. Hornick is great with my dog! And Lindsay at the front desk is about the nicest lady youll ever talk to on the phone! I came to this vet because its only a mile away from my house, and stayed because everyone is so nice and amazing. They even call you a few days after you bring in your sick pet to make sure theyre doing OK! Love them!

The best vet / experience in the area! I have been to several other local vets and have had various issues and complaints - my parents took our pets here when we were kids and even though its farther of a drive for me now - I gave it a shot. I started transitioning our pets here about 2 years ago and now Ill never go anywhere else. Also, just recently lost our Boston and I cannot say enough about the compassion and kindness from the entire staff.

I love Mentor Animal Hospital. Since they have a very low staff turn over I pretty much always talked with the same person. I moved to Cleveland in 2003 and lived just a block from Mentor Animal Hospital and in 2004 I moved to Cleveland Heights. After trying several vets closer I gave trying to find a vet that was close and went back to Mentor Animal Hospital because of the great job the vets and staff do in helping me care for my pets.

Mentor Animal Hospital is a great veterinary practice. Drs. McLaren and Hornick have both taken Im care of my dogs and cats for the last four years. The practice is also staffed with great vet techs who are very kind and competent. These folks show true care for your pet and for you. I would (and have) recommended this veterinary practice to family and friends.

I have always had a good experience here. They treat my kitties like their own and are always very kind and accommodating. Several years ago my cat had to have surgery. Dr. McClaren took him home with her the first night afterwards so that she could keep an eye on him. I appreciated that.

Ive been coming here for almost 20 years, and cant imagine going anywhere else. Everyone, from reception to technician to the physicians, are kind, welcoming, thorough and caring. In additional their rates are reasonable. There is never a long wait and they all make my cats feel loved.

My Lexie had blood in her urine, so I made an appointment for next day. The doc finished surgery early and they called me to bring her at closing to be checked. They didnt rush us, Took time to x-ray and give her a shot. They are always gentle with her.
