I USED TO like this place. Ive been bringing my pug here for a couple of years now since i moved into the area and yes you wait a LONG time to be seen but considering there is no office visit fee and theyre nice it seeme worth it. For a couple weeks I had a feeling my pug was pregnant and I took her on Friday November the 18th to get looked at and they gave her an xray and determined YES she was pregnant but with only one puppy and it was a big puppy. They said she was do very very soon but could not determine if she could give birth on her own so told me to wait until she goes in to labor and if it seems like shes having problems to bring her in and a c section was $600 (pugs rarely can give birth on their own)..... A WEEK LATER exactly... she went in to labor and i called them and I told them shes in labor and acting like shes in a lot of pain and asked to bring her in. They said they stopped taking walk ins at 10:30 (i called at 10:43) and she could come in at 1:00.... I told her I do NOT have $600 and if they could do a payment plan and the lady fn told me ""NO it has to ALL be paid upfront and considering it is a life or death situation for my pug and shes a pet i care about I will find a way"""" are you fn kidding me? So pretty much they would NOT help me since i didnt have the $600 and was just going to let her die. Called an Emergency Vet hospital and they are closed until late tonight... so once again I tried to ask them to help me and they wouldnt. After calling around bawling my eyes out from what that lady had the nerve to tell me I found a vet in Umatilla that said they close at 12:00pm (i called at 11:30) so i explained my situation and they said for me to bring her in right away and they will give her a c section and wait for me to get there and take payments AND only charge $250 for a c-section.... I will NEVER go back to lake vet. Apparently all theyre worried about is getting in money and not the health and saftely of people pets. From now on I will go to Manley, Gd - Animal Hospital of Umatilla off Cr-450a...

To start the vet that we worked with seemed less than enthusiastic about doing her job and responded to questions with a conplacent, "hungover" attitude. After never talking to me or my boyfriend about whatnis casuing the issue and rather throwing our puppy on steroids and antibiotics, we finally had had enough with dealing with the no-appointment system, where you wait nearly 3 hrs to be rushed out in 10 mins. What a joke! I also, being an individual that has worked with animals for many years, was a little turned off by the lobby environment at this clinic. There were about 8 receptionist/clinic aids in the amall corral for checkin and they were talking as loud as was possible. This poor office behavior was making the animals, having waited for so long, very nervous and upset. What amateurs scream, cackle and holler in a room full of nervous animals? To boot, we decided to take our pup to another vet office that might take his still untreated skin condition seriously. Our new office needed some medical records from Lake Veterinary Clinic to be sent over. Their response? "We will when we have time." Our new vet was a little shocked at their response but, sadly, we were not surprised by their lack of professionalism. Steer clear of this poor excuse of a clinic. Seek more engaged vets, your animal is worth it.

i have been going here for 15 years or more never had any bad experience until september of 2011. my 12 week old puppy was very sick, took him in and seen one of the new Dr. Oaks, he said he had a bacterial infection now mind you he would not eat or drink. gave him some antibiotics and sent me home. he still wasnt better the next day so i took im back and seen the same Dr. he game him sub q fluids a shot of antibiotic and said to bring him back on monday he would be fine.... need less to say my puppy didnt make it through the night!!!! took him back in on monday and talked to Dr. weber and he wasnt very nice at all. took the other Dr. side saying he would have done the same thing, i said well you could have done something more, kept him over night to keep him hydrated, but they dont have people that stay over night..... how can you give advice and bring the dog back monday when they are that ill??!!!! I will NEVER go back to that place!!!!!!!

Lake Vet is affordable but you need to ask up front the costs involved or you could checkout what you think is a simple visit into a couple hundred dollars for a week of meds. There are no visitation fees but dont go in expecting it to be very low cost clinic. Since it is first come first serve, the wait can be up to a few hours. I have seen sick and old dogs outside that I have offered my spot to just so they could receive help sooner. The lobby can get very crowded so some animals may get quite stressed. The staff is mostly quite friendly, especially the intake. There are a couple of DVMs here and like anywhere, they could be impatient and indifferent to caring and thorough depending on their moods. Overall, despite the wait, it is usually the first place we will take the dogs we foster. I would like to give it 3 1/2 stars, with no place being a 5 star location in the area.

I have never been to a vet that shows as much compassion, care and respect for not just the animals, but for the pet owners as Lake Vet. Theyve saved a handicapped pet of mine more times that I like to remember. Each time was just as drastic as the previous visit but they always took time to explain the needs and medication that was needed and when the unfortunate time to make the decision to send him to his maker, they didnt rush me and they showed so much care during and after. You may have to wait a bit, but Id rather wait and know that Ill get the care they give, then go to another vet and feel like just another pet with a dollar sign attached. Not to mention Ive met some pretty amazing people sitting and waiting.

My girlfriend and I have been using Lake Veterinary Clinic for about a year now when we got my first cat. We have done all my check ups and procedures with them. Great staff; theyre great with the animals and very affordable. Since it is a walk in clinic, youll want to get there early in the morning. Doors open at 8am, so if youre walking in, you should get there before 7:15 at the latest. They have 5 rooms so you want to try to be there as early as possible. There is an unofficial line in the morning, so when you pull it, make sure you know who comes after you so they dont skip you. Also make a note of how many cars were there before you. Be responsible and be fair. This is a great vet, and I will continue to use them!
