I took my sick pug to this facility and was told he probably has cancer and the prognosis is very poor. When asked how this was suspected, the vet told me he aspirated suspicious fluid from my dogs abdomen. Lie. I work in Healthcare and have asked other vets also. Needle aspiration is not done without ultrasound and they do not have ultrasound at the facility. Besides that there were no puncture marks, bandages, anything to show where the fluid was supposedly taken from him. Needless, to save my family and I were devastated with this news. I midwifed this dog, have him rescue breathing at birth, and bottle fed him to supplement feedings. I love my buddy. And he was sick and leaving me. It took me a couple of days to start thinking. Well, almost 2 days after being home and what we considered hospice care, he perked back up and acts as he always did. Its been almost 3 months now. He sleeps a lot, but he is 11 years old. I truly believe the doctor lied and misdiagnosed my dog. Why I do not know. My heart isnt healed from the hurt and I still watch my buddy very closely. But I sincerely believe the aspiration was a lie. I watched other pets leave the office treated. The UF entity is huge, but I wont take my pets back there. I just cant trust that a doctor with experience is treating my family and not a vet in training. Besides, the $1000 dollars for misdiagnosis.

My daughters 20lb mix breed pound rescued dog of 8 years was sick with cancer she went down hill all of a sudden over last 4 days our Vets are only in office Mon-Wed @ Humanitarians, we were going to take her Monday 1st thing, late Sunday night Inky was struggling very badly & I knew we could not wait any longer after 3 calls to E.R. Vets I talked to UF Pet ER they were helpful on phone and said bring her in whenever you get here open till 8 am, we carried Inky to van and drove 30 miles they got us in right away work on dog until we filled out form. All here were Kind, Informative, and very helpful. They examined Inky to confirm nothing more could be done, explained the procedure (of putting her to sleep) offered all the time we needed with Inky before but we knew it had to be done now as she was very near death. I must add, other vet offices besides making you wait for a call back for ER also wanted well over 150 dollars more, minimum and we just did not have it. If it were not for UF ER Hospital our dog would have had a tortured death. Most other vets in our area are in it Only for the MONEY and that shines through when you take our pets to them! We help save unwanted animals while not many vets care about someone elses finances. I was told apply for a pet credit card at our office!

I will NEVER take my dog here again. I will also, NEVER recommend this vet for anyone with fur-babies. They took my 11-year old Lab, Kody, to the back room. I didnt see him for TWO WHOLE HOURS. This is my baby. I couldnt be with him, see him, and no one would tell me what was going on. I kept crying as I was scared for Kody. The Vet (Dr. Corrie) informed me, after taking blood tests, that he had some "concerns". When I asked what those were, he said "I dont want to tell you, but for $600-$800 more, I could tell you." Really? I am on a budget. I will do all I can for my dog, but extortion was not the way for me to go. So, after we paid a $300 bill for blood tests and NO INFORMATION, I was able to take my dog home. The next day, I took Kody to his vet. She took one look at Dr Corries notes and said "Kody possibly has cancer". That idiot, Dr Corrie, didnt say one word the day before! All he had to do was say that Kody might have cancer and to take him to his vet for further testing. We are waiting for Xrays to come back from a specialist (for $120-alot cheaper than $600) to find out if Kody is definitely sick or not. But, Dr. Corrie acted as if he didnt care about Kody or me, but for a very expensive price, he would have.

Brought my sick German Shorthaired pointers here the other night. They said she had a twisted stomach and wanted 3,500.oo surgery or put her down. I said I wanted to check with my normal vet in the morning. They told me I was in humane and wrong. They said the best thing was to put her down. They charged me around $400. For x rays and meds. They repeatedly told me I was cruel and inhumane. She will not make it until morning and will die slow painful death. After arguing for quite some time I got my dog back. I took her to my vet at live oak animal clinic in the morning and Dr Shearer operated on her. It cost $900. For him to save my girl. Now we are 10 days after surgery and my girl is happy and healthy!! I wonder how many people have had to put their pets down because of this place?! Get another opinion first! Just as you would for yourself. The charges are insane as well! Are we paying for someones tuition?? Very disheartening to think of how many animals were put to death here because they said so or the price to save the pet was astronomically out of reach! . Wheres the compassion???

I just took my ragdoll cat in for urinary issues that began late on a Friday night. Since Im new to the area, I didnt know where to take him and was nervous about UF ER after reading a mixed bag of reviews. Since it was a true emergency and I was desperate, I took him. They took excellent care of my cat, were informative and kind to me, and gave excellent advice on how to prevent this problem in the future. They also did a follow up call and answered my questions and concerns on that call. They are expensive, but Id expect that from an after hours ER hospital. No complaints here!!

Id like 2.5 stars actually. This place is majorly slow. Constantly understaffed. Although they did their job one time it seems to be consistent on the amount of time you spend. 2.5 hours for blood work that takes 30 minutes. Then not to see your pet, you have no clue whats happening. Consider keeping your pet with you rather than in the back. Especially when they are stable enough to be with you. Add in the fact your paying through the nose for an exam fee and you will want to loose you mind. Ill have to bite my tongue because they are the ONLY animal hospital for emergencies

Had to take my 15 year old Chihuahua last night after a mishap with one of our larger dogs. All the staff were concerned, kind and caring. As a sat in the waiting room I saw 10 other people bring their fur babies in for treatment and received the same compassion. My dog was treated, received medication and is doing much better! All treatment was explained to me prior to, and costs were provided to me as well. The doctor was caring and explained everything to me completely. The nurse was excellent! I highly recommend this facility.
